I visited this facility

I was very impressed with The Harrison. It was very clean and inviting. I especially liked the way that it had the atrium, which was open. All three floors were able to look and see movement and things going on. They had a little area that had birds and I just thought that was a great added touch. Everything about this place was just impressive. This one has the Medicaid waiver so that may be something that my mother will be able to do further down the road. Everyone that I encountered there was very nice. They answered any questions I had and went above and beyond, and even answered some questions that I had about military assistance for my mother. The staff was pretty knowledgeable in all those areas. I saw people waiting for the dining area and everything smelled very good, but I didn't sample any of it. It was something that I would gladly move my mother into. And she is a very, very clean person herself.

My mom is on the waiting list at The Harrison. It's five-star. We like it. The staff is nice. The facility is nice. They have a lot of activities. They have crafts, they got bingo, and they have karaoke night. They got different stuff that they do every day. They play cards, too. They have a salon, and they have physical therapy. The rooms were nice. You can have a one-bedroom or a studio.

Provider Response

Hi Julie, thank you so much for your positive comments about The Harrison!

I went to The Harrison. I like that it is open and airy. The rooms are nice and spacious as far as the assisted living part of it. I haven't been into memory care. As far as assisted living, it's nice to be able to look onto the common area like come out of your room and look into the common area and kind of see what's going on. The other thing is because my mother hadn't had her Medicaid set up yet, the admission (I'm assuming she was with admission), she gave me a reference for a lawyer that sets up Medicaid, which was awesome. The staff that showed us around was all business. She was kind and nice. They have a great big gazebo and that's nice. I call it a gazebo but it's really big and they have cookouts out there. Actually, it's a big patio, but it's covered, and then they have a big common area that the floors with the rooms look over. It's kind of like a hotel. There are great indoor and outdoor areas.

The Harrison was fine. The outside looked rough, but once you got inside, it was like a total transition. It was very nice and fine. We were looking at the memory care facility. The room that the staff showed us was a very nice size. I was very impressed with that. The food looked fine. They were serving dinner and lunch when we walked in. It was nice to know that there were only 14 residents in the memory care facility. But it looked like there were only two nurses for those 14. The studio, honestly, we decided that we wouldn't even put our dog in there. It was so tiny. It was like a closet. That isn't even an option. So then they took us to the deluxe studio, and I thought that was very nice. I didn't even see the need to look at a one-bedroom because the deluxe studio was very nice. The only person I talked to was a salesman, and she was good. She went, battled, and got the price reduced. The outside needs to spruce up, and the memory care could use a little sprucing. The other part looks nice. They do crafts. They are trying to get classes together for the Magnolia program. They can have them in a little cooking session or take care of the baby or things that develop their minds. I think that's a great avenue to be going down. They've got entertainment for them.

The Harrison was wonderful, but they could not take care of my mother. They figured out she needed skilled nursing, which they didn't have. When you walk in you think you're in a big Las Vegas hotel. It's beautiful, and the staff was nice.

Provider Response

It is a great facility to work with . I brought my mother over from westside gardern plaza and they honsetly took very good care of her and if I had any questions or concerns they were immediately addressed. The best compliment I can give is they treat you like family and really do want to take care of your loved one.

Provider Response

Thank you for the kind words, we strive to provide the best service possible to our residents and their families. It is a privilege to serve this community.

Our experience with The Harrison has generally been good, and my parents' move in was OK. The rooms are great and the staff is pretty good. The food seems questionable when we ate with someone there one night, but hopefully it'll get better. But their care is fine. I have no concerns about the care. In terms of activities, my parents went to a birthday party today, and they also went to some events on Saturday. My mom is pretty independent and my dad needs quite a bit of care. I chose this place because of the location being personally close to us, another reason is cost since some of the other places we looked at were expensive. Another good thing is that we already know some people there. It's not a perfect community, but we're pretty pleased with it right now. The food wasn't great the night we ate there.

I visited The Harrison but I didn’t like it. It cost as much as a lot of the other senior places but has a lot less amenities. It smelled like urine, although they were trying to mask the smell. The people there seemed friendly to us. The residents were waving back to the lady we’re walking with, but it was kind of “Yeah, I don’t really know you.” I got a bad impression from them and I was not happy with any of it. The way they did their air-conditioning was all crazy. They have a salon, and they also do physical therapy there if your insurance provides that, so you don’t have to leave the community. From the activities they told me, I know that they go on s shopping and they also play bingo.

The Harrison is very spacious. The outdoor appearance is not what you would think. When you look at it from the outside, you'd be surprised to see the interior of the facility. The staff is very knowledgeable. It's a full-service facility because they have the Legacy Therapy center there and also the doctor visits once or twice a week. My mom is doing a little better. The dining area is nice but my mom doesn't like the food. My mom enjoys bingo and movies. They also do outings and shopping.

The Harrison is gorgeous. The fee for the level is very reasonable. It's newly renovated and really easy to navigate. It reminds me of a fancy hotel. It has a big atrium. One thing that is really cool is that it has a lot of small sitting areas that overlook the atrium. You can go outside your apartment, sit down, and see what's going on. They even have an aviary there. They have this big bird cage with little birds in it. It is just the cutest thing. The dining room is gorgeous. It's very large and it has separate areas. They have several different activity rooms too. I looked at their studio apartments which are good size. They're L-shaped, so you don't see the bed when you first walk in. The kitchen area is a good size too. They have good-sized closets. They have very nice layout. I didn't meet many staff except for the leasing manager and she was fantastic.

The Harrison was good. I loved the great apartments. Even the one-bedroom, one-bath was pretty comfortable and a good size, but it didn't have a garage. The staff was excellent. The food and dining area were good, and the location was convenient. The amenities were good, and they kept the residents very busy with activities.

They kept forgetting to take my relative to breakfast and dinner at The Harrison. I had to go there several times to take him to his meals. The night nurse also kept forgetting to give him his medication. We had to call the nurse to come back up to give his medicine. Some of the meals were OK, and some were not. He complained about having cold eggs during breakfast.
