I visited this facility

Residences at Coffee Creek is a good one. It doesn't require the normal buy-in for a place that will give you all the services you need until you die. Beautiful facility. Clean. Friendly people. Just very nice. It looks more like a hotel than a residence for senior citizens. They have a fitness center, a beauty salon, a wonderful dining area, and a beautiful walking path outside. Mainly it's just a nice place to be in. I saw the menu, and it looked really good. There's lots of variety, but we weren't able to sample any food. The staff who showed us around was the best one that we've ever talked to. She was very knowledgeable. She had started there when the place was actually under construction, she was working for them. She was very pleasant. She seemed caring. I would recommend anybody talk to her to get information about Residences at Coffee Creek. They're well-staffed and they have registered nurses there. You would be hooked up with your nurse practitioner who works for them if you need it. They had a nursing station on every floor which was impressive if you need it of course because it ranges from independent living apartments all the way to total care.

I visited this facility

I went to see Residences at Coffee Creek. I liked that there were nurses' stations on every floor. The staff who assisted me was really good and very nice. They had private studios, 1-bedroom, and 2-bedroom apartments. I looked at the 1-bedroom apartment and it was around 600 square feet. It was fine. I didn't see any activities. They just took me around and showed me the facility. I think it was the best one I saw.

My grandmother lives in memory care at Residences at Coffee Creek. She started in the assisted living there and then transitioned into memory care as her dementia progressed. We are SO GRATEFUL for the caring staff at Coffee Creek for helping us through this emotional time. Grandma is so loved and cared for. I’d recommend this place to anyone who is needing help with a loved one. They really go out of their way to make sure their residents are happy and cared for. I’d also like to add that it is always very clean and the food is very good! Her apartment is so spacious compared to other places we looked. My whole family is very pleased! If you are looking for a loved one, definitely check this place out!

I visited this facility

I recently visited Residences at Coffee Creek to visit with an old friend who now lives in the memory care there. I was so relieved to see how well she is doing. She was so distraught in her home a few months ago, this is such a better fit. The place is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. Her apartment has a nice view of Coffee Creek and when I was there, multiple staff members checked in on us to make sure she was ok. I was impressed and feel she’s in great hands.

My mom stayed at this facility, and I was blown away by the care and support she received. The staff did a wonderful job ensuring every need was met and that she was comfortable. They provided daily activities that my mom was always excited to participate in. Each time I visited or spoke with her on the phone, she told me about all the fun things she did with other residents. You always hear sad stories of people sitting alone in assisted living centers, but that could not be further from the truth at Coffee Creek. The staff is a 10/10 for me and my family, and we are incredibly grateful for love and care they provided to my mom.

Residences at Coffee Creek was beautiful. It's brand new. The director that we talked to was just as knowledgeable as could be. She answered all of our questions with great detail. Everything was clean and well-maintained. It looked like the dining area was welcoming and inviting. I especially like that they had a little cafe with pre-made food like sandwiches, fruit cups, and things like that. So, if Mom wanted to just grab a little lunch rather than sitting down and having a full meal, she could do that. She could go at any time, and it was like a restaurant ordering system where they would come and she'd circle what she'd want on her menu, and then they would bring it to her. The apartments were well-designed. I especially liked that they have a nursing station on each and every floor. It was three stories and they had three nursing stations that were fully staffed with nurses and aides. We really liked it. As a matter of fact, that's number one on our list.

We did the independent and the memory care at Residences at Coffee Creek. It was very nice and very clean, just a little on the pricier side. The staff was very nice, answered all our concerns, and showed us each one of the rooms that we were interested in. They were very spacious. It had a little dining table in the kitchenette area. The bathrooms were full size. The bedroom was a decent size as well, with a walk-in closet. It had a little living room. We didn't get to try the food, but they showed us the dining room and the menu. She also showed us where they have a little breakfast thing where the breakfast can be cooked in front of them if they want to order something. The menu looked nice. For breakfast, they had scrambled eggs or different meals that you could choose from. They had a little exercise room where they can go, either to continue therapy or just use the facilities to bicycle, lift weights, or walk up and down the stairs. The facility was very beautiful.

Residences at Coffee Creek is an outstanding and beautiful place for our dad. He previously lived in two different Valpo based memory care assisted livings over the past 3 years that were terribly understaffed, and Residences at Coffee Creek has FAR surpassed what we had experienced before! If you're looking for memory care that actually DOES what they advertise, this is the place. My only regret is not moving him here sooner. He moved into his new memory care apartment recently and the whole process has been an extremely positive experience. I have been consistently informed how well our dad is doing and how much they enjoy having him there. Most importantly, he is happy, healthy, and wonderfully adjusting. I cannot say enough what a blessing it is to know that dad is surrounded by such a caring and wonderful staff!

Residences at Coffee Creek is an outstanding and beautiful place for our dad. His recent move to his memory care apartment has been an extremely positive experience. The staff has been wonderful with taking care of his move -especially Natalie who has been awesome with the communication and the excellent attention to our dad's needs. I have consistently been informed how well our dad is doing and how much they enjoy having him there. Most importantly, he is happy, healthy and well cared for. We feel so blessed that he has such compassionate caregivers who go above and beyond to help him adjust wonderfully to his new surroundings. I am very grateful for all of the wonderful staff at Coffee Creek!

The staff at CC have all been so caring of my mother in law. They want what is best for her to feel safe and cared for. They took care of moving her personal items to the memory care unit, so she felt comfortable transitioning into her new suite. It’s a relief to us knowing she is safe, taken care of, & is in an enriching environment.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

In late summer of 2019, my husband and I were looking for an assisted living facility for my parents ages 91 and 96 that had a memory care unit, if we ever needed one. I met Natalie and toured the facility with her. There was a full-time nursing staff and the doctor on call was my parents' primary care physician. The facility was bright and spacious, in addition to being designed for the use of walkers. My parents moved to Residences at Coffee Creek in October, 2019, to the assisted living side. They enjoyed their spacious 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment with a huge walk-in closet. They were very excited that the dining room was open from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. daily, and the bistro was open 24/7. In May, 2020, my parents needed to move to a memory care apartment. With the COVID-19 nursing home mandates, we could not help them move. The staff moved all of their belongings to their new apartment and brought their extra furniture outside for us to pick up safely. When my father needed his pacemaker battery replaced in July, he was taken by Residences to his appointments and surgery in the mini-bus. A CNA went with him to all of his medical appointments. I had peace of mind, when I couldn't be with him. As my parents celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in August, the staff helped provide a cake for them and sent me pictures of the celebration. Anytime my mother needs supplies or just a phone call to be reassured, a staff member calls me immediately. When I want to make an appointment to visit, I have been able to visit that day or the next. The staff has been great to work with; Kaitlynn, director; Sue, head nurse; in addition to all of individuals who have helped my parents. The many shift nurses are always willing to give me an update on any current situation.

I visited this facility

I went personally to Residences at Coffee Creek. I think it was a very, very nice place, but my dad cannot afford that. It was way too expensive. As far as what I've seen, it was a very nice place. I met two people. I would say they were very nice, they knew what they were talking about, so I would rate them high. The staff said if Dad moved in that I was more than welcome to sit down anytime with him and eat there. I saw the dining room, the activity room, and some conference room. They have COVID there/this epidemic going on, so I couldn't sit down and eat, that was probably why they didn't ask me. The dining room was like a restaurant type. It was linen tablecloths, they had a bar setup where you could get stuff, and they had nice sit down tables ... real nice.

Due to covid, we have been limited in our visits and have only been at the facility for 3 months. With that being said, we are very pleased with how things are going. Communication is great: emails, phone calls, visits.... Nurses call back when we leave a message at their station as do the PT's that are working with our mother. When we do visit, our mom seems happy, says they are taking care of her which is all we can ask. We also appreciate the transportation to and from doctor's appointments. Helps on our end since all of us are working. The facility itself is inviting - feels like you are in a hotel vs. a senior care center. Thanks for all that you do.

Provider Response

Thank you for your positive feedback! Our team loves to hear the positive feedback and we are very happy that you are pleased with our community. Thank you for trusting us with assisting your loved one.

My grandmother moved in about two months ago from a different assisted living in the region. We had no idea what we were missing until we came to Residences at Coffee Creek. The administrative staff made us feel very secure and were extremely helpful throughout the move-in process. We have been extremely pleased with her care. My grandmother is mostly independent but does need help with her medications and her insulin shots. She has made some friends and I feel like she is in the safest place she can be during this pandemic. She is signed up to get her vaccine and I couldn’t be more pleased with the emphasis the staff has on the health of their residents. Her previous place felt very much like a nursing home and Coffee Creek feels like a luxury hotel. I can’t say enough good things. If you are dissatisfied at the place you are currently, I encourage you to check out Coffee Creek. It is truly a step above!

Provider Response

Thank you for your positive feedback! We love hearing these success stories and sincerely thank you for choosing Residences at Coffee Creek!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I was not favorably impressed with Residences at Coffee Creek. There were staff that were rude. The marketing people said that they were now able to allow visits any time, but I learned that that was not true and visits were only allowed for a very short time in the morning, or a very short time in the afternoon, three days a week. I wasn't allowed in my mother's room, so I have no idea what the room looked like, but I understand they have their COVID rules. I bought Mom candy, and she said it was gone. There's nobody monitoring who's in and out of the room or who's doing what because nobody can get in. They gave her medicine twice a day instead of once a day. Fortunately, it's a drug that wasn't detrimental, but there was barely an apology. They agreed after I argued with them that they would pay for it. You have to leave anything you bring for the resident on a table out in the foyer. I brought her cranberry over-the-counter pills, but they disappeared. Nobody could find them. I wasn't happy at all. I bought her BOOST for her nutritional intake, two 12 packs, and they barely lasted two weeks. She had to have medicines monitored, so that was an extra. She had a basic plan and anything that you have to do after that is extra money, and they were pushing me to put her in memory care, which is $6,000 a month. I didn't feel she qualified to need memory care yet. Even if she did, I couldn't pay $6,000 a month. The outside was fine, very clean, and well landscaped. I was able to come in to the first floor to the conference room. I saw a dining room and a little snack area, and they looked clean. You had to schedule your appointment to visit, and I was there five minutes before my appointment time. The employee said I could sit at the front table and she will get my mom and we can have our visit outside. Another staff member came and said to me, “You can't be here. This is reserved for someone else." The nurse that I first talked to said, “You can't visit your mom now, she's getting her hair done." I said, "Who made an appointment for her to have her hair done?" She said, "I don't know." She gave me this snotty look and said, "I have to go find out." She came back with the beautician and the beautician said, "I was told to give her a haircut." She told me I have to go in the back and they'll bring my mom out in the back. I went to the back, and I sat in my car and waited for 30 minutes. I called the facility and said I was still waiting to visit my mom, and she said to me, "We brought your mom out there and she waited, but you never came, so we brought her back in." For 30 minutes, I'm sitting there watching the spot where I'm supposed to meet her, so I know that that was a lie. It was awful. It was the worst experience.

Provider Response

Thank you for providing feedback and letting us know about your experience and issue. We deeply apologize that your experience was less than satisfactory. Residences at Coffee Creek strives to accommodate all of our residents and families with the upmost respect and care and we are sorry to hear that you did not experience this. Due to Covid-19 restrictions mandated by the State of Indiana, we are required to follow the protocols that have been put in place to protect our residents’ and staff’s safety. We wholeheartedly understand that it is terribly hard to preplan and schedule times to visit your loved one during these unprecedented times. We try our very best by allowing guest visits 7 days per week on a scheduled basis in designated areas of our community, practicing social distancing and mask wearing. We are constantly looking for better ways to keep our residents safe and adhere to State mandates yet allow them to maintain all their social connections. We welcome your feedback on how we can work together to make this time process smoother and more comfortable for all our residents and families. If you wish to speak with us further regarding your experience, we would be happy to address any and all concerns. Please call us. Thank you.”

My good friend moved in during this Covid-19 pandemic because life became difficult at home in isolation. She now has bus appointments to all of her doctors and has made new friends. The nurses are very knowledgable and friendly and have helped her a lot with managing her medications. Also, she can’t stop talking about the food and how clean it is inside. I visit her weekly and enjoy the staff. Overall, this was a great life move for her and I’m very happy for her.

The Residences at Coffee Creek was wonderful. They had everything there. The staff member was very helpful and knowledgeable. The rooms were beautiful and adequate for the residents' needs. Everything was new, clean, and up-to-date. The dining area was very nice. They had puzzle and crafts rooms. They try to do the activities according to the person's intellectual capabilities. They have a TV room, and they take the residents places.

The food is very good. The dining room has a lovely atmosphere and meals are available throughout the day. The activities director is enthusiastic, creative, and fun. She obviously loves the residents and the residents love her! Some of the extra costs, such as dispensing medications are overpriced and should be adjusted. On the whole, the staff is quite caring and pleasant for the residents. The nurses seem to keep a close watch on the residents that need help. For the most part we have been quite happy with our choice to move our relative there.

The best thing about the community is the dining room. It is open from 7am to 7pm and you can sit wherever you want and that has been very important. The residents have been very friendly and very open to coming and sitting with me this is the absolute best thing about coming here. The cleaning people are extremely nice and friendly and do a nice job. Julie is extremely nice in activities and a happy person. I enjoy the things that we do and the bus trips are extremely nice. I like my room because I have 2 windows and have sunshine in the morning and sunshine at night. I brought my cat and that was a plus.

I have a one bedroom apartment that is just the right size. I enjoy the balcony and the view of the Coffee Creek Watershed. The housekeeping staff is very helpful. My garbage cans are emptied daily. My apartment is light cleaned weekly. The laundry room is very modern and kept very clean. The Administration team is always available and eager to help. There is a team of medical nurses always available which is very comforting. The dining room is very inviting and available for meals most hours. We have a stocked Bistro that is open 24 hours for our personal use. The food here is delicious. I have yet to be served an inadequate meal. The chefs, staff and servers are all very professional but personable to all residents. There is live music entertainment often and we even have dogs to come and visit and make us feel very much at home and loved. Recreation is constantly available but never compulsory. My favorite activity is painting class with local artists Carol and Nathan. Bingo is another fun recreation that is well attended. There are movies often also. All in all, a very nice place to live for sure!!

I have attended a few educational presentations here and have attended their support group. I’m extremely impressed with how clean and beautiful the building is. The staff is also very helpful and thinks outside the box to make this lifestyle the best for the residents that live there. Right now, my family does not need their services, but I think our community is better because of them. Their food is excellent! I eat every time I visit. Overall, They offer a compassionate service and I would recommend them to anyone needing assisted living or memory care.
