The food was so poor, it required ordering out for delivery 2 out of 3 meals per day. Not sure if the poor food was a result of not forking over the $$ to get quality ingredients/seasonings, etc. or if it was a result of going out and looking for the worst possible cooks in the area and hiring them. Either way, it was terrible. Nursing care was poor overall. Some nurses went above and beyond, caring for patients as required. Others were just there for the paycheck, and it showed. After a lights & sirens visit to the ER where doctors settled on a reason of "Getting someone else's pill in the pill cup accidentally" as the reason for an altered mental state and various other problems during this ER visit, doctors suggested I have the nurses review each pill they were putting in my pill cup each time. When told they needed to do this, some nurses were on board with reviewing the medication each time, and understood the reasoning behind the cautious behavior. (Which should already have been done with every patient every time anyway, as a normal course of the job) while others gave major attitude and smacked their lips saying, "I don't have time to do that" refusing to do so. This was not the first time I had gotten someone else's medication. The other 2 times, I caught it due to the fact the pill was very obvious in my pill cup and easy to spot and question. When asked, "What is this pill for?" after going and looking into it, the nurse came back with the answer, "That's not yours......" No alarmed behavior towards this mistake, no apology, no 'plan' to fix the problem in the future......just a shrug of the shoulders, moving on. When contacting the nursing manager regarding any nursing issues, there was never a response as to what was being done to address the situation, whatever it was. I never got a response that she had even read the email in the first place and was taking care of it. Housekeeping was a JOKE. If you were lucky, your floors were swept each day. Mopping the floors, room, or bathroom, wiping down/cleaning the toilet area or sink area were NOT done on a regular basis - daily? every other day? weekly? There did not seem to be any kind of schedule - it just wasn't done. It was just a floor sweep, and that's not even daily in most cases. Other areas of the facility, outside of the patient rooms were not kept clean. The activity area always had food all over the floors, etc. Physical/Occupational Therapy seemed to have their act together. Exercises were appropriate for the rehabilitation that was sought. Therapists were nice, they helped to push you to a good limit, but not too much or too little. Response time to call lights was very poor. Sometimes, I would almost forget that I had the call light pushed when someone arrived, it took them so long to answer it. . . . and that was just coming to ask what you needed - it didn't include getting that need taken care of. The initial response to a call light was AT LEAST 45 minutes or more. Then you had to get that need taken care of, either by the technician or the nurse. When needing to visit the nurse's station, there would be many techs/nurses, etc. sitting and standing around - and MOST times, they wouldn't even look up at you when you arrived. They could be the most disinterested bunch of people I'd ever seen. . . again, many are there only for the paycheck, not to truly care for patients. DO NOT go here - there are so many BETTER places to go. I transferred out of there, and went to another facility that I basically knew nothing about. . . . . and the difference in the facility, housekeeping, nursing staff - everything - was NIGHT & DAY.

My mother who is in her 90s and nearly blind has been at Bridgewater for about 2 months. When she arrived, she was unable to hold her head up, had no motion in her left arm, was weak on the left side, and had issues swallowing as a result of a stroke. The therapists are incredible. The fantastic speech therapist has worked with her on chewing and swallowing and that is completely normal now. She even has Mom singing. The wonderful occupational and physical therapists have the fingers on her left hand moving and she can make a fist. They are getting her up in a wheelchair every day, she can hold her head up for hours, feed herself and brush her hair. The progress is remarkable given her prognosis. The nursing staff is responsive and caring. The social worker and people in the business office have been so helpful with dealing with medicare and insurance. The transportation director has gone above and beyond in arranging transportation to medical appointments. The activities director takes her to activities and has her connecting with church activities on a tablet. The facility is clean and beautiful.

If you’re thinking on sending a love one to Bridge Water don’t! The care is very poor here they’re overworked not enough staff and ultimately it’s the residence that suffer. The food is not healthy it’s not fresh and non-tasteful the staff work doubles and complain all the time. They talk on the phone when they’re trying to take care of you

Sub par care. Do not go here! We have reported this facility to CMS & State agency. Severely understaffed. This is not fault of nurse or cna there as they were set up to fail. We were 2nd family to leave yesterday in emergency situation. 93 year old mother came here for short term rehab stay after uti. Came in on walker, a little unsteady, moderate pain that was being adequately treated from hospital & she would have been able to participate in therapy. Moved her yesterday to another facility in an emergency situation but went to ER due to her immense pain (not adequately treated) before we could get to new facility. Left bridgewater with her totally unsteady (but allowed to continue using walker), curling up in pain, unable to do therapy & now set back further to participate in therapy due to lack of attention & care experienced in just 2 days there. ER drained nearly 2 liters of urine from her bladder. ER trip could have been avoided if scanned her bladder as prescribed (admitted to facility Friday left Sunday) and cath her as needed. Sat in depends for hours that were wet & dirty. Hours! She did not get pain meds hours past when needed. No one came at times when pushed call light. My mother is sharp & lucid, normally able to advocate for herself when family not on site but says it did not matter. She was not treated. Her complaints not counted.

Bridgewater has been amazing for my mother. She has improved over and above what my expectations were. The nurses, CNA's, Physical Therapists and entire staff, have been wonderful in their care for her. They are very attentive and took excellent care of her. The facility is clean and the rooms are kept clean and efficient. The activities are good for their type of community. They create an environment where the residents - hopefully - want to get out of their rooms and participate. The food is good. It had to be or my mom wouldn't have eaten it, and she did! While my mom was there, she was able to be taken off of a few of her medications she was on from the hospital and I was very thankful for that. Everyone that I came in contact with there was extremely pleasant and showed true concern for my mom getting the best possible care. I am beyond thankful for them! I highly recommend this facility for anyone who is looking for that type of care. They are wonderful.
