My Aunt, who has been a resident since Aug 2015, has been in Independent Living, Assisted Living and now in 'SKILLED CARE' , and I use that term very loosely because VERY FEW of the employees are actually 'SKILLED'. She is now paying almost $15,000 per month for this shameful treatment . DID YOU UNDERSTAND THAT- $15,000 per month. There have been several medication screw ups, a repeated statement from the CNA's,"I am just from the agency, . .That's not my job!" or "I don't know anything about that." or "I will check that out and be back" never to return!! The food in skilled care is sad! There are a few meals that are hot, tasty and enjoyable. And on those few occasions, my Aunt calls and compliments the head of the dietary staff. Granted, MOST of the skilled care residents are totally out of it and don't know what meal of the day it is. HOWEVER, there are 4 or 5 residents that have full or mostly full cognitive wherewithal and get very disappointed at what they are served, cold, dried out dinners which they cannot even cut. The fried, dried out chicken breast which was served April 11th is the latest example. My Aunt called me after dinner almost in tears because she is paying almost $15,000 PER MONTH! UNACCEPTABLE!! Do you notice that more and more people just order grilled cheese? Even if it is not hot, at least it can be eaten. The latest scam seems to be that NOBODY actually answers there phone. "Please leave a message." And does not return the calls!

I did a tour of Smith Crossing. Everything seemed fine, but they had 15 people on a waitlist to get in. So, that wasn't really an option then, because we were looking at something fairly soon. It came highly recommended to us by a resident that's already there; one of my girlfriends' mom is in there, and she has nothing bad to say about the place, and is very happy with it. When we were there, they were playing a game with the residents. They were tossing a balloon around and they had noodles. Then they had another room with people, and there were two caretakers in there for six people. So, I liked that there were enough people in there to take care of them. The dining area looked clean, they had several different areas. I did not try the food, that was not even offered. The rooms looked very nice, and they were adding on, but they didn't know when the new wing would be complete. The staff member who gave me the tour, she was fairly knowledgeable. The facility is very clean. It was pretty pricey, but that really wasn't a concern. It was just more of viewing it and not having a smell.

My mom is in Smith Crossing for rehab. So far, they've been good. When I visited, the room was clean, the room was nice, and the staff was nice and very good. She asked for a pain pill and it was one o'clock when she asked, and they said, we'll give you one at three o'clock and they did come in and give her one at three o'clock. She said she liked the food, that's good because she's a very picky eater. They were knowledgeable, any question I had, they would answer it. When she asked for a pain pill, she didn't ask her nurse, she asked somebody else, and they got her nurse in there within like three minutes to tell her that she couldn't have one until three o'clock. So they were really on top with things.

My husband is in the rehab section of Smith Crossing. They also have full time people living there. The place is beautiful, and he's got the best care he could ever ask for. It's a new facility. The staff is way beyond what you would expect. He's getting the two types of therapy there: physical and occupational. The food is excellent, and the dining area is also excellent. He's under Medicare right now.

Mom entered Rehab at Smith Crossing in October 2019 after becoming disabled. She flourished but then due to age related issues was moved into Assisted living where she stayed until her passing on March 18,2020. Her care during her entire stay was like having an additional 100 + family members! The entire staff from RN's to CA's were kind, courteous and simply loving. The beauty, cleanliness & care of the outside/inside of the facility was only surpassed by the beauty of the care mom received by the staff. I visited mom everyday and saw the love & kindness she received from all.

Smith Crossing was new and very beautiful, but very expensive. They had nice facilities, but they didn't have any place to show us. The dining room was beautiful. It was brand new, gorgeous, well decorated, and very nice. All the other shopping facilities are here in Orland Park and it's a very good area. They had a gym and an entertainment room.
