So when I first arrived with my Mom for rehab, I was so depressed, the color-scheme on the rehab floor is not "cheery" so I was sad, disappointed and depressed. Since she has been in Unit A for 3 weeks now, I have come to see that she is receiving wonderful care, they put up with her obstinance which has subsided and now find Mom to be funny. Victoria, Eva and the gang are delightful, helpful, attentive and run a tight ship. The food SUCKS, being Italian, I am personally insulted by the grub therefore we bring food into Mom often but c'mon, get a clue Scalabrini should offer stellar eats!!!! Overall, we are all comfortable and happy with Moms' care.

I would like to commend your facility for taking such good care of my husband while he was there. The nurses, CNA’s and other staff were accommodating and caring. I would especially like to give a shout out to Rebecca and Debbie, the physical therapists who listened to the family’s concerns. These ladies not only got my husband back up on his feet but had him transferring from chair to walker, walking a nice distance and walking up and down stairs. We were able to go to church and out to dinner Sunday. God bless you for ensuring that my husband will have a better quality of life.

My mother was in the rehab facility for about four weeks and finally was discharged a few days ago. She had fallen and broken her hip and was placed here after her surgery for rehab. She had previously had mobility issues but was making progress until her fall. She is not a typical patient however. Her medical history over the last year is about 10x more than a normal person her age. This is due to her multiple rounds of chemo and finally a stem cell transplant to combat against the Leukemia. She is on a large regimen of drugs to prevent rejection, GVHD, and infections. These meds are critical to her continued recovery. Having said that... Day 1 - 3 were incredibly stressful for her here. Her medical history was not accurately conveyed to this facility and this facility was slow to respond. By around day 3 we finally got everyone on the same page and her meds were being accurately dispersed to her. Her transplant team was also looped in and setup to receive the blood work on a regular basis to ensure no issues with her stem cell transplant. Since she was here for rehab for a broken hip, we thought that is what would be occurring. On Day 1, we were told that since she never had a covid booster shot, she would be isolated in her room for 10 days, no PT or OT. First off, that is ridiculous. Second, she CAN'T receive a booster shot as she is immunocompromised. She had a two dose vaccine and later after her stem cell treatment, an antibody treatment for covid that is safe for immunocompromised individuals. This facility did not accept either of these points and she had to wait 10 full days to get into the PT gym. Now, they did end up doing some walking and light PT with her in the hallways as this place is a ghost town. After Day 3 to around maybe the 12 day or so, my mom reported that they were slow to respond to calls. Slow to disperse medicine. Not managing her diabetes correctly, and a slew of other issues. Now, I can't say for sure if she is correct as her memory tends to go when she is stressed, however I did witness the slow responses to calls. Seems like they are understaffed or do not particularly care. After she was out of isolation, she was finally doing PT in a gym with someone who she really liked. One glaring issue that popped up was her lack of movement. They didn't want her getting up and using the bathroom on her or and later in her stay didn't want her using a walker, only a wheelchair. What kind of a "rehab" place encouraged lack of mobility? This one. You know the reason? Insurance. They don't have the staff to help your loved ones feel more independent. Oh, and that rehab with the PT people...20 minutes top of light exercises. I witnessed that. Food was fine. Rooms were ok. Facility is old. Lack of upfront parking. Spaces for doctors that are NEVER THERE and NEVER RETURN CALLS. They will keep your loved ones in a bed for 23 hours a day and not think twice about it. That is the truth about this "rehab" place. Luckily my mom got out and is somewhat mobile with a walker. Now she has to find an at home PT person to make some actual progress. Think twice about sending your loved ones here. They are NOT for rehab.

Our mother died yesterday and the first thing that a staff member asked was when we would be moving her stuff out of her room.

My mom was here for 6 weeks for rehab. She did NOT FALL - she went to rehab for a pulled muscle. We were told 2-3 weeks tops. We were supposed to get weekly updates, but never did. Due to COVID, we had to make an appointment for visits. When we called for updates, they always said things were good, she was making progress - their goal was to having her walking at least 300 feet before she came home. She's home now - she cannot walk with a walker, she cannot get up from her chair, she cannot go to the bathroom by herself, she cannot get into bed. We have to be with her all the time. Before she went here, she was walking (no walker) throughout the house, walking upstairs to take a shower! We are so overwhelmed with the care she needs and so very disappointed with the Villa.
