I've visited Beacon Hill four times for a total of about 15 hours. The people who had seen me said, "I hope you'll move here because we live here and we like it." I liked it because the people were so friendly. The food is terrific. They have the former chef from the Hancock Building of the Signature Room and he's very happy to work there. The food is delicious in the main dining room. The people were very friendly. They've got a lot of activities. The building was very nice inside, but the apartments that I wanted seemed to face the expressway or Finley Road, which is fairly busy but not as bad as the expressway, so I had to decide if I was going to take a smaller apartment that doesn't face those or with a courtyard view or just pick Finley Road. I'm really sensitive to noise, so I don't like that. That's about the only thing I don't like about it. They take people to different areas for shopping and doctors. The common areas are nice. They've got a much larger gym than the other places did. They've got another smaller gym and a big swimming pool. The apartments are not off of one long hall. They're clustered in groups of ten. They call it wings, so even though there are more people there, I think you get more of a friendship with your neighbors. It's my favorite choice. If you want assisted living and stay in your own apartment, you have to hire somebody for like a half hour to three or four hours. That costs more, but you don't have to go to a separate place. The salesperson was great.

Beacon Hill was bright and cheery. The staff was very friendly. The apartments were very light and bright, but they weren't as spacious as I would have liked. They had many amenities, like a lot of dining areas, a pool, an exercise room, and a large conference area. The facility was very clean, open, and airy. The residents seemed very happy and were very expressive about their happiness to be living in this facility. They were very friendly.

They are great at making sure residents have enough sleep, and have good hygiene. On the nights she gets a shower, she is done by 6:30 pm. so she can go to bed. Sometime's they let her sleep in till 9:00 am. They were so thoughtful, when they lost her hearing aids, the second time. She still had a set, no one would notice, they didn't match. And they are so respectful of pride of ownership. They let mom pay for the replacements. Most of the time, when I come to visit, they promptly answer her request call with in 15 to 20 minutes.

I was very impressed with Beacon Hill. The staff seemed to be very nice and pleasant, and the people seemed very satisfied. They had cards, games, a big swimming pool, and exercise room. The food was OK.

Health Center has some 5 star RN's and some that need a lot of education and training. Patients in the Health Center definitely need an advocate to assure the family everything is being done correctly.

My mother currently lives in the BH Health Care Center. She is basically at the mercy of others for her mobility and her general well-being. When she became ill, she was put into isolation and was not taken care of properly. She became so dehydrated that she ended up in the hospital with a raging urinary tract infection and anemia in addition to the dehydration. No one on the CNA team reported her lack of urination or hydration until her condition became alarming. After 5 days in the hospital, she is now in the medicare wing where she is given very good care. The therapies available through Medicare are outstanding and she is beginning to perk up a bit again. We have learned our lesson. No one watches out for a loved one like family. Check on your loved one often.
