I visited this facility

Parkview Home of Freeport is a very clean and nice facility. It's an excellent place and I'd like to see my in-laws there. One girl we met was very friendly and showed us around and showed us the amenities. She was very helpful and answered all our questions. The apartment came with a meal each day. They had card games and all kinds of stuff they can do and participate in. The apartment we saw had a nice little porch with it. The place was very clean and had no smell. It's a little on the pricey side for my in-laws by it's a good facility that's well-worth it.

Parkview Home of Freeport was very good and clean. The person who showed us through was very helpful and explained everything. Everything was great in it. The tenants were very helpful.

I visited this facility

Parkview Home was fine, but it was too small for me. They had a lot of amenities and activities, but I was not interested in any of that because I was not planning on participating in that. It was a nice place, but I am not ready for that kind of living yet.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for visiting Parkview! I would be curious to know what was too small and what level of care you were looking at. We have 47 independent condos ranging from 770 sq ft to over 1800 sq ft. We have 20 independent apartments ranging from 400 sq. ft. to over 900 sq. ft. and 25 assisted living apartments ranging from 200 sq. ft. to over 600 sq. ft. We are home to about 125 residents. Our residents are encouraged but never forced to take part in our activities. I am glad you thought it was a nice place and when you are ready for the maintenance free; carefree life style I hope that you come visit us again!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Our mom lived in the independent living homes at Parkview. She had a beautiful home located on a peaceful tree lined street with a patio and garden space. Parkview Homes provided exceptional service and were flexible and helpful during our mom's move and her time there. Our mom didn't want to leave the home she once shared with our Dad in Lake Summerset, but she could no longer manage living there alone. When moving into Parkview, she wasn't excited. She did not want to make the change, but, with our constant encouragement and nudging (for years), she knew it was time. What she didn't expect was how much she would like living there. She enjoyed the ease of living at Parkview; appreciated the service and many amenities at an affordable price; she felt safe, secure, and taken care of, especially with the wellness check-in calls and nurse visits; and she quickly made wonderful friends in the neighborhood and with the Parkview team members by simply sitting on the front benches or at social gatherings. The residents and staff are extremely supportive and become one big family. She told us we were right to encourage her to move there. She said she only wished she would have done it many years earlier. It was music to our ears! So if you're like us, adult children trying to help a parent transition into a retirement community, or like our mom, a senior who doesn't want to make the change, we encourage you to take the leap of faith and give Parkview a try. Parkview exceeded our expectations. We loved it for our mom, and our mom loved living at Parkview!

Provider Response

Maureen and Neil, Thank you so much for the kind words about Parkview and our staff. It was a joy and a pleasure to have your mom live here at Parkview. It was so much fun and so rewarding to watch her take to Parkview like a "fish to water" in making friends, decorating her beautiful apartment to her taste (with some help from Neil she told me), enjoying her flowers and taking part in the activities and outings! She was always a ray of sunshine!

I am/was a resident of this facility

I will add a few comments of a more prosaic nature to those of my wife. There is a thriving community of residents in the Garden Apartments, many of whom have been at Parkview for many years. We have found them to be extremely welcoming and inclusive.  The buildings themselves are extremely well-built and maintained.  Parkview has a long relationship with the Freeport area with an excellent reputation, is a non-profit organization, and has a solid balance sheet.

Provider Response

Thank you Eric and Sheila. We are so happy that you chose Parkview as your new home and that you are enjoying Parkview, your neighbors and all we have to offer! I know Eric is enjoying not having to shovel the snow!

I am/was a resident of this facility

About two years ago, we started checking into various facilities in Illinois, so we could be near our adult children. We liked the concept of a continuum of care, especially since I have Parkinson's that will worsen over the years. At this point, with my husband's help, we are able to live independently in one of the duplex-type homes. We moved in about six months ago, and we decided to rent rather than buy into the community. Several financial options are available, and we're now considering switching to a different plan. We've been impressed with a number of features at Parkview; These include: lots of space in our duplex, many activities, helpful staff, a willingness to be flexible, and a general atmosphere of caring.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother was fortunate to live in her Parkview condo (independent living) for over 10 years. Due to medical issues, she moved into the Assisted Living section this past summer. We can’t say enough good things about the people that work at Parkview. They have made my mom’s transition go so smoothly and welcoming. Chris Kempel, Deb Gitz, Lark Musser, the caring nursing staff, the therapy staff, the laundry and housekeeping staff, and the wonderful kitchen staff who provide the gourmet meals have all played a big part in my mom’s health and happiness. My mom is more active and involved in activities now than when she was in her condo! Thank you Parkview!

My wife and I had several options to choose from outside of Freeport, re where we felt we would be most comfortable, but also where we felt the quality of care giving and social contact would be best for us. Having had family members previously(and currently)living at Parkview, the choice was not difficult. Sincerely, Dennis Maves

Provider Response

Thank you Dennis and Sandy. We are so pleased you chose Parkview as your retirement community and look forward to you enjoying many carefree, healthy and happy years with us!

I visited this facility

The lady at Parkview Home of Freeport was very professional. She knew her stuff and explained everything in great deal. The home was very nice but because it's been added on to so many times, it became a little confusing getting around in the community. They had a nice range of activities, like card games, a workshop for the men to tinker in, scrapbooking, and a lot of things like that. They had a bus that takes them for rides and dinner out once or twice a week, and I was happy with that. They had a skilled nursing attached right to it.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother has been a resident for approximately 11 yrs and she is very satisfied with Parkview Home. She started out in one of the duplex units and eventually moved into an Independent Living unit in the main building. The staff is very professional and friendly. They especially have been very helpful with her special interests in plants and landscaping. She likes the menu choices in the dining room and they accommodate with any special requests. She likes to eat very healthy foods and she is very satisfied. We think it is an excellent and well run facility at a reasonable price.

Provider Response

Thank you John for your kind words. It is a pleasure to have your mother as a resident here at Parkview. She is a joy and an inspiration to us all!
