I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My parents used to be residents of Heartland of Riverview. The place was clean and their room was nice, they had 2 bedrooms, a living room, and a small kitchenette. The staff was nice, they're good. My dad did not have any complaints about their food. They had a lot of people coming in and volunteer music-wise, they have lots of different kinds of music like piano players or people coming in with guitars. They also played bingo.

I chose Riverview for my friend because of our positive previous experience with another family member. I'm very pleased with how they're so organized. Her apartment was lovely, it was 1-bedroom with a living room, a bathroom, a large closet, and a kitchenette area. They kept everything simple but lovely. It's freshly painted with a new rug and everything. The staff members and all the people there are kind and wonderful. She has no bad things to say about the place at all. The cleanliness of the place is excellent, their activities are okay, and the price is within her budget. They also allow pets, but with a minimum weight of 20 pounds, so she had to give away her English Airedale.

I am/was a resident of this facility
My first exposure to Riverview was approx 5 years ago when I was looking for a place for my parents as they transitioned from their house to independent apartment living. Riverview offered pricing that was competitive, and offerings as far daily activities, transportation services, and meals from menu were the best I found in the area. The Riverview facility also offered independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing home facilities all in one complex, which was very important to me, so as my parents required different levels of support, they could both still be at the same complex together. They chose a different location despite my recommendation, but based on their concerns where they ended up at, they would have been happier at Riverview!
My next exposure to Riverview was with the skilled nursing facility, when we had to do hospice with my father 2 years ago. During this very hard time the people at the facility were all very helpful, and they certainly helped make this very hard time and experience easier for our family.
This year, after a very extensive back surgery, that included restrictions from my surgeon that I could not walk for 12 weeks after surgery, which made it impossible for me to return home to my 2 story home, I was able to experience "first hand" both the skilled nursing and independent/transitional offerings at Riverview.
When I needed to pick a skilled nursing facility to move to from the hospital, I chose Riverview based on my previous exposures to the facilities. My 3 weeks there was a good experience, as all the nurses, aides, and physical therapy people there were outstanding, and I certainly felt well cared for.
As I hit the point when insurance determined I no longer needed skilled nursing and was independent as far as therapy, but I could still not return home due to my surgeons restrictions, I had no idea what I would do next!
The case worker from skilled nursing got together with the mktg director from independent/transitional living at Riverview, and they were able to put together a plan where a hospital bed would be added to one of the independent living apartments, an electric chair would be used for me to get to meals, and for a very fair daily cost, I would be able to continue to meet my restrictions to spend 20 hrs a day in bed as my back healed, until I could make the transition back to my home. The people and services at Riverview far exceeded my expectations, and they always seem to want to go “above and beyond” to make sure all is as it should be!
With the past exposure to the Riverview complex, and my first hand exposure recently to both the skilled nursing facility, and with the independent/transitional offerings at this set of facilities, I would highly recommend those needing facilities like Riverview offers, for their loved ones or for themselves , take a look at what Riverview has to offer.

I visited this facility
I was kind of disappointed with the staff of Riverview because they gave me different information on the cost. My sister-in-law is there in the nursing home and my brother is in the assisted living. The staff gave me the prices, and when I gave it to my sister-in-law, she was kind of alarmed because they were so high. When I went back in there, the lady was talking to my sister-in-law and talking about getting some of the prices lowered, which upset me a bit because she hadn't said they were negotiable. The prices were really high; too high for us. The apartments are nice and the food is excellent. It is not a very attractive area.

Our Mom recently moved here. It is an excellent place for seniors. The staff is very helpful, considerate, and kind, the building is very clean and well kept; there is always something going on. Mom really likes living here. She is eating better, socializing and active, and thriving here. We feel better too knowing she is being taken care of so well.

Riverview is cheaper and not as fancy or luxurious, but it is just as adequate as other places I visited. They have plenty of activities. My mother and stepfather have only been there a couple weeks, and they like it. Some of their friends are there. They're very happy, and they feel they are with people of their level. They have bus trips every day to Walmart, Kmart, or different shopping areas, and they like that. They have activities, and bingo is very popular. It's not as nice or as fancy as the other places, but it is affordable.

My husband’s grandparents were at Riverview, and they liked it a lot, so we looked it up and decided to put my mom there. They have a lot of activities to keep her out of her room, plus they’re less than five minutes away from our house. The staff is very friendly. We put her in a studio because that’s what she wanted, and it’s very nice.

My wife spent five weeks in Riverview. We know some people in there, so we're familiar with it. I would go to Riverview if I had to go to a nursing home because of the way it's laid out, and the fact that it's all one complex, so if you are in the senior living area and something happens, you can be moved into the nursing home side; you wouldn't be transferred to some other place. The senior living is not all on one floor. It's a four-story facility, and the living quarters are raised. It isn't on a concrete slab. The only time you're on concrete is in the dining room and some of the entertainment facilities, but the living quarters themselves are actually raised off the concrete. There are elevators, so you don't have to rely on the stairs unless there's a fire. I was impressed.

Riverview was fine; they have been very helpful to mom. Mom participates in bingo, crafts, and social things; they have ice cream socials. The room is fine. I think the food is fine, but she complains because she can’t have anything more than salt and pepper. She is a picky eater.
What impresses me most is the outside help that we were able to hire there. They have an office right there so the people can come whenever she needs help, and that’s the only reason she was able to stay there because they come in and check on her all the time.

First of all, the facility is very clean which I think is important when so many people are living in a dense location. The staff are very friendly and make an effort to get to know family members of residents. There are always activities for guests to take part in with the residents. The nurses and other medical staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I like how there are so many open, communal areas so everyone can socialize even when events aren't taking place. There is always a large variety of food available and the dining facilities make me forget that I'm not at a restaurant. The living areas are spacious and modern-looking. The grounds are well-maintained and give the residents beautiful views. Overall, I think that Riverview makes difficult life circumstances easier on residents and their family and friends. I always look forward to visiting my grandmother and her friends who live at Riverview.

I visited this facility
I recently toured the facilities at Riverview Senior living to see if it would be a good fit for my mother, as she needs to move closer to myself. The facilities seemed clean well kept as far as I was able to tell, in both the rooms we visited and the larger facilities, the Cafe and the front desk. The library and Barber shop were both nice touches to have within the facilities. The staff seems to stay out of the way of residents when they do not wish to be disturbed, but will be of great service and help when needed; friendly and professional. I cannot speak for the specialized care for patients with Alzheimers, but I could only imagine that the care for those facilities would be of a similar nature as well. Overall one of the better-assisted living facilities that I have seen, and would recommend it to those in the Peoria area looking for assisted living for loved ones.

Therapy staff is awesome. They do everything they can get the resident home. They work you hard but in a good way. The nursing staff really care about the patients and do what they can to make the patients feel at home.
