I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
My aunt, Cousin , and other relatives have been here. The place is very well organized, clean and a very helpful staff..
The staff was very kind and caring especially when I walked in and my cousin was sent to the hospital. Makes you feel good when you truly know your loved ones are being taken care of.

St James Manor & Villas is a dump. When I was there, the air conditioner didn't work. It's antiquated and the call service is horrible. There's really no way for the patients or the people in their rooms to contact the front desk without using their phones. The food was OK. From what I experienced, they didn't really stick to the cardiac diet for the elders, but the food was pretty good. As for the rooms, housekeeping was horrible. We walked through several rooms that were dirty, and carpeting needed to be replaced and bathroom fixtures leaked. It just wasn't kept as clean as it should have been. The activities were pretty good, and the staff was pretty nice. They had a sports car event where they used to have ice cream socials, there was a little dining area and they were converting it. The idea doesn't sit well with me seeing the old people sitting on their wheelchairs dozing on and off. The skilled nursing side seems to lack compassion for their patients. As for timely service for the seniors, it was lacking. There were quite a few mentally and physically disabled seniors who seemed like they were suffering, and the staff wasn't there to make them as comfortable as they can, so that was a major turnoff.

My Great Aunt is in this facility and they treat her as of she is their very own family. She is always comfortable and has everything she needs and the staff are remarkable. There has never been a time that I popped up and things were out of place or she was soiled or uncomfortable. Their is one CNA named Carla S. she is wonderful my Aunt loves her and she makes sure everything is the way it needs to be. Most of the hime thats who my Aunt wants as her cna noone else!

My father had a stay here for over a month recoverring from a hip replacement and he stayed in the medical wing of the facility. Despite being where the residents required regular medical attention, for a variety of reasons, this did not feel like a hospital. The staff was always patient, helpful and friendly as my family and I were there daily. The residents for the most part seemed to be contended and I think there were only one or two residents who I ever heard complain. My father was next door to a cute little married couple where the wife required long term medical care, the husband did not. They were allowed to live on the floor together, had some of their own furniture and were really made to feel like they were both at home. The staff seemed genuinely happy to help them out.I can't ever say a facility like this is where anyone wants to end up, but if forced to the staff here did more than just thier jobs, and really seemed to care for each patient's physical and mental condition.

My dad was doing rehab in St. James Manor & Villa. The appearance of the place was fantastic, it looked really good, and it was really nice. I would give them ten stars for everything except for communication; it didnt seem like they communicated very well with me. I was surprised that some of my social workers and stuff like that didnt have voicemail, so theres no way to leave a message, and that bothered me. The staff was great, the CNAs and nurses were good, and Im a nurse who knows how these places work. Their dining area looked fantastic, although I didnt try the food, but my dad didnt really complain about the food. I glanced at their daily schedule. They have the typical type of stuff like crafts and arts, current events, and they have daily exercises and all that stuff. The staff was great, the cleanliness was great, and there was no smell.

I am/was a resident of this facility
I wish I could give five stars unfortunately I really in good conscience can't! I was a resident for about 3 1/2 weeks the aides are pushed hard so they have real bad attitudes, the nurses and LPNS who give out Meds are pretty good! Rehab is off the charts AWESOME! I would highly recommend therapy here but would question being a resident!

Would not recommend this facility to anyone. The only thing we liked there was the rehab department. They were awesome and very compassionate! The CNA's were not! Met two there that really cared. My Father was there for 3 months and fell out of his wheelchair at least 3 times that we know of! He was a fall risk and was not properly watched. One time he fell was because of a faulty foot rest on his wheelchair! The last time he fell was in the dining room. He was diagnosed with a brain bleed and shifting of his brain! No way was he going back there! We are now caring for him at home!

Fire hazard. Not enough room for residents with walkers or wheel chairs to move around lunch room without bumping into each other and various objects. Staffing have poor attitudes.

I was looking for a place for my mother after she fell and broke her hip. I drive by St James and stopped in to get information when her doctor said she was going to need therapy. I was impressed with the look of the facilities and also that it didn't have a nursing home smell. My mother is 96 years old and can be a pistol. She wanted to go home the first day but the administrator met with her and got her to calm down and agree to stay the night. He was very patient with her and asked her a lot of questions about what happened to her and what she would do when she got back home. He explained to her that if she did her part in therapy, then everyone on the staff would do their part to see that she would be able to get back to her home. She was there for 6 weeks and I was amazed at her transformation from the day she got there until the day when she left. She was walking with a cane by the time she left, she had her favorite nurses or aides that she called by their name and she said she might want to come back and visit sometime. All of this from a lady who is not always the friendliest person in the world. Thank you St. James for the great care you provided for my mom!

This place is absolutely horrible. My grandfather was here for six months and every single time I stopped by there was an issue. He was unclean, hungry, had bed sores- the support staff has an excuse every single time! Save your elderly family member - do not let them move in here.

This review is for the "skilled" nursing section. The assisted living section was wonderful, with wonderful people. Our dad was doing pretty well in the assisted living and then had to move to skilled due to concerns from falling. They let him sit 24/7 in a wheelchair, unbelted or secured and he fell out of his chair. In the course of one month, he had to be hospitalized twice due to severe dehydration, resulting in organ and heart damage, and he died from the second episode of severe dehydration. He had terrible sores on his behind/scrotum and severe edema in his legs which was never treated. When we would visit him, he was sitting in a dirty diaper without clothes because they were all filthy in his closet stored in plastic bags. No dignity given to an alert WWII veteran. While in the hospital, they found a broken clavicle with the bones separated. He went from a vibrant old guy with great mental abilities to an unresponsive guy with over 40 lbs of weight loss and severe dehydration in a matter of one month. The severe dehydration sent him into uncontrolled atrial fibrillation, low blood pressure, and organ damage. He was unable to recover.

Grandma is at St. James Manor. This facility is close to my house. They do a good job on taking care of her and they are very polite. They would let me know whatever happens. Some of the staff were a little slow, but I don’t think it’s a problem. I'm happy with the service. She is in a shared room right now. My grandma is a picky eater and complaints just about everything, but I think the food is fine.

St. James Manor have a great facility. It is a friendly and cozy atmosphere which is great for the residents. Also, the residents are allowed to interact with each other all the time and they have a number of daily activities to keep them occupied. These activities include, going to baseball games, playing games, exercising, and even going to the salon. Another thing that I like about St. James Manor is their location. It is the suburbs that is surrounded by grass land, meaning residents can go sit on the porch without the disturbance of loud sounds.Besides that, the staff are also great. They are friendly and care for the residents a lot. They only want the best for them.
