I visited this facility

I liked the people who took me around the Good Samaritan Society - Moscow Village. Everybody had a garden with a large deck, where you could plant things. I think it looked very clean too, but I just don't think they had what I call a big social area or meeting place. I was also there during the virus, so there weren't any people sitting around, but the one thing I liked about it was they had five duplexes in a circle and there were a lot of nice plants around the area. They had a large library, and the eating area was in between the main apartment buildings. I liked the area because you can either walk into town and they have a bus service where they'll take you to the shops and so forth, I think that's important too.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Angels from heaven. My 99 year old mother has been in the skilled nursing unit for over a year now and I visit her daily. I am absolutely amazed at how well the staff treats the residents. Always a smile and kind words. They explain any question I have in detail and often offer very helpful advice even when I don't ask. Even the cranky and demanding residents get treated with the utmost respect. Sometimes they cannot come immediately when you push the attention button. But they have many folks to consider, and as I advised my mom, just push the call button 10 minutes before you absolutely need them and give them some time to get to you. They are busy and industrious caregivers, not servants. You won't find any lazy caregivers here. Overall, I have never seen such good care administered in such a loving way.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am a Catholic religious sister and have had to place three of my religious order in a caring facility (nursing, assisted living and memory care unit). In searching for one that is caring, clean and very competent staff, I chose Good Samaritan in Moscow, Idaho. I have never regretted my choice. They (entire staff: from maintenance to cleaning to aides and to nurses) truly live the "mission statement" of Good Samaritan which states---"Everybody is somebody loved by Christ". I chose to do my rehab there after knee replacement surgery. I experienced first hand what and how the staff operates. This is why I have given it 5 stars!

Good Samaritan is closer to me with two-room units for $1,500, and meals were extra. They had movie nights, go places, and gather, talk, and do puzzles together.

I visited this facility

For the most part, staff at Good Samaritan village was friendly, but my father-in-law was not happy during his stay there. He had a very annoying roommate, even after it was requested that he have his own room. Staff seemed to take their time in getting to his room after he rang the call button, sometime resulting in him not making to the restroom in time. He was there nearly a week before he was given a remote control to change the television channel. His biggest complaint was that he had a bad back and the staff was not sensitive to the issue. He requested to sleep in a chair rather than a bed and they refused to let him do so. As a family member going to visit, I felt generally welcome at the assisted living facility, however, I did feel that staff was not good about keeping my father-in-laws room clean.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The Good Samaritan in Moscow was a great experience for my close friend, Helen. She enjoyed her time there, and even chased some of the staff down the hall in her wheelchair some times! The place was always clean and I never saw someone without a smile. There are not enough kinds words I can say about the nurses Good Samaritan provides. Professional and well-educated, I always knew Helen was in the best hands. She was a smoker, and was even able to go outside on the patio by herself whenever she wanted, without feeling like a child and asking permission. She possessed all of her faculties; she was treated like an adult. She was able to maintain her dignity without her friends and family being worried about her at home. The food there, however, left a bit to be desired; as a diabetic, Helen received special meals that were not always up to par with what the rest of the residents were eating. She was able to find plenty of fun volunteers willing to play Cribbage or Pinochle any time. Helen is no longer with us, but Good Samaritan has left a positive impression.

I visited this facility

When I was younger, my mom worked at an assisted living complex. Once in awhile we would be able to go in and see her, or go to the events that they hosted. I always thought that if I were to get old and need assistance with my daily living, I would want to go to a place like that. For a class I had to tour Good Samaritan Village, and was pleasantly surprised at how much they were similar. Often times there are horror stories about different facilities. After speaking with several people living there, I know that they are happy with their living conditions. They are able to stay as active as they want. They are able to stay social and interact with the other people. I hope that if I end up with a place like Good Samaritan I would be lucky.

I visited this facility

good Samaritan is a small assisted living home in a nice quiet neighborhood. from the tour i took i could see that the staff to patient ration was pretty high. the few nurses i spoke with were very friendly and willing to answer any questions we had. inside the facility was quiet and well lit, and had a very comfortable atmosphere. the rooms seemed a little small but they offered a lot of space for residence to spend time out of the rooms. the only problem i could see was a rather rough looking kitchen crew. the food didn't seem to be much like home cooking. i did see people eating however and they seemed satisfied with the meal. i didn't check the prices but heard from a friend that they are reasonable, for the quality of service provided. all in all i was impressed and if it ever came down to needing to place a loved one in an assisted living home, good Samaritan would be a great choice.
