About Northlake Gardens
Located in Tucker, Ga., Northlake Gardens provides assisted living and memory care services as well as short-term stays for seniors. The community is owned and operated by Five Star Quality Care, Inc., a national healthcare and senior living provider with more than 260 communities nationwide.
Costs are determined by the length and level of services provided, and residents of Northlake Gardens pay on a month-to-month basis. There is a 30-day required move-out notice, and residents have complete access to the community’s facilities and amenities throughout the duration of their stay.
FACILITIES
Residents of Northlake Gardens in Tucker, Ga., live in private apartments that range in size from 250 to 520 square feet. Living spaces are designed to allow residents to live as independently as possible. They are equipped with kitchenettes, keyed entry and LifeAlert and Lifeline systems.
The community is furnished and decorated in a warm and welcoming manner and is designed to be a comfortable place for residents to enjoy time with friends, family and pets. The community's exterior grounds include a garden, a covered patio and walking paths through a secured neighborhood.
AMENITIES
Amenities include an on-site beauty salon, game room, library, wireless Internet, housekeeping and laundry services. Residents also have round-the-clock access to on-site staff that provides personal and memory care services and arranges activities and transportation.
Five Star Quality Care prides itself on offering a menu that is as delicious as it is nutritious. The Northlake Gardens menu takes advantage of regional food sources and is served in a communal dining room, where visiting friends and family are welcome to join residents for meals. There is also a private dining room available for residents who want to host their loved ones during special occasions and celebrations.
CARE AND HEALTHY ACTIVITIES
Northlake Gardens provides residents with care and services designed to allow them to live as independently as possible, including personal care for those who need help with daily activities and memory care for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Residents who need personal care services receive help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, managing their medication and getting around the community.
Residents with Alzheimer’s and other cognitive impairments receive constant care through the community’s Bridge to Rediscovery program. It’s a Montessori-based approach to memory care that focuses on helping keep residents engaged in their community as well as with friends and family. It uses repetition to help residents maintain and build skills and capabilities. The program has been recognized by the Assisted Living Federation of America with a “Best of the Best Award” for its effectiveness and attention it provides to every resident.
Residents with specialized or acute healthcare needs have access to regular wellness checks and in-house doctor visits as well as several nearby hospitals and clinics, including Northlake Medical Center, which offers a full range of services including heart care, cancer care and orthopedic care. Northlake Gardens staff works closely with area hospitals and clinics to schedule appointments and arrange transportation for residents.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
Northlake Gardens offers its residents an array of opportunities to socialize, learn and enjoy nearby attractions. Events and activities include educational classes on downsizing, topical healthcare issues such as recognizing the signs of Alzheimer’s and spirituality.
Chili cook-offs, exercise classes, board game competitions and book clubs also held on a regular basis. In-house religious services are offered weekly. For residents who are able and interested, staff members arrange trips to local attractions including nearby restaurants, shops and entertainment venues such as movie theaters and local parks.
