I would run from this place. It presents nicely when you look at the place, but once a resident it is different. The food. The food is atrocious and often cold. The chef makes the same meals weekly with lots of sauces and such most of us can not eat. The rooms in my building are a bit bigger then the other buildings, but still my bathroom is hard to get into with my wheelchair or even my walker. If the doors to the outside are locked, it is very hard to get in with my key, the door is heavy and my grip is not anymore.

The rooms are small in one building, a bit bigger in other building...at a higher price of course. The food is horrible! We did a dinner, food tasted intuitional, like hospital food. The staff was okay, the person who showed me the apartments seemed like she was following a script, but was knowledgeable. The person doing the tour tried three times to introduce me to the director, but he was never in his office. There was a wine and cheese event going on, it was in the afternoon and seemed thrown together.

Winnwood Retirement Community is a bit older community compared to some that I've toured and not as up-to-date. It's by the downtown area of Marietta Square so there are plenty of options for food and stuff like that. And then the facility was decent, they had a gym, a decent dining hall, and a little courtyard where you can play miniature golf kinda thing. And there are also tables and whatnot in the entrance for just gaming and stuff like that. The rooms were decent, they're like a regular apartment with a bedroom, dining room, living room, full kitchen, and everything. So it was very good, just a little older though, so it needs some upkeep for sure. They also have some activities and outings that they would do. They have three meals a day, and then two meals on the weekend.

I have found a place and it's called Winnwood Retirement Community. I have chosen them even though it is more expensive, but it has some services like bus and meals and so on. It is also fairly close to my daughter. They have breakfast and dinner five days a week. It has a bus that takes you to the grocery store. Also, you can reserve a taxi service or a car to take you to doctor's appointments if you ask ahead of time, so I like that. They have a lot of activities. They have a book club and numerous card games. They have three libraries, which are open to everybody. They have both assisted living and independent living, but I am going into the independent. You can transition to assisted living, which is a bonus. They can help you fill out the forms as required by your insurance agency and so on, so that's good. The place is charming and beautifully placed. It's an owner-owned facility, and it's comprised of three different separate buildings. In between, there are beautiful courtyards, walking paths, and a little putting green. They have a dog park as well; some people are interested in that. They have spiraling staircases and grand pianos. They have maid service twice a month, which is included in your rent. They have followed up beautifully because I did this in April. They sent me calendars and said, 'Everything is here but you,' and it was nice. They've done everything they can do to accommodate the timing of my move, which I appreciate. They have a business center, too, which would be wonderful. The staff who took me around was very pleasant and knowledgeable. What I saw was very clean. I had a very positive experience.

My parents-in-law moved into Winnwood Retirement Community, and they seem to be very happy. The food is good, and they have a friendly crowd. They are settling in now. They have only been there about a week, but so far, so good. It is a big change from a house. It is clean, and the issue that we had were taken care of immediately. They do all kinds of stuff like games and lots of other activities. They have not really taken part in much of that yet. It has been a week of trying to move in. I did not seek anybody else out. This was very convenient.

I visited this facility
We are in the process of moving my mother to Winnwood Retirement. I've seen it in person, and it's very nice. I was only able to meet two people. Because of the Coronavirus, we can't talk to anybody. We also saw the apartment she's going to be living in. Everything in the facility was very clean and up-to-date.

I needed a place to stay for the first 10 days after surgery when more care is needed, prior to moving to my children's home. Every aspect of Winnwood was wonderful. The sunny, spacious room, the attentive care, delicious meals and pleasant dinner mates, management was very kind and respectful, the staff is happy, and the lively activities director always had something fun or interesting to offer. The price, too, was reasonable for everything that was offered. I cannot think of anything negative whatsoever to mention. It is uniquely awesome!

The food is horrible! There own chef cannot cook, he can only carve fruit! The apartments are very tiny. The bathroom are not ADA approved. If you have a resident in a wheelchair good luck trying to help them to the restroom. The Assistant director now is a joke. The management is a huge turn over! If you last longer than a year in your management position that is a miracle!! Beds don't get made, laundry does not get done!!

I like the people and the accommodations at Winnwood Retirement Community. My niece lives in Marietta, that's why I want to be there. The physical appearance is very nice. I was there for a wine and cheese party, and everybody was extremely friendly. They have very attractive interior. They also have assisted living, but it is in separate building.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident
The Independent Living part of the community is really nice, but my family decided to mover our dad out of Winnwood to avoid having to take him to the Assisted Living building. They have just lost so much staff, and the turnover rate is very high. The new director is not very personable, and does not go out of her way to mingle with staff, residents or family members. There are several new communities close by, one of them is where my dad is, and he is so much happier.

My mother-in-law has been in Winnwood Retirement Community for almost a year now. We're having a great experience with them. They have been great. They're a small community, and I think it is family-owned. The staff has been very responsive to our parents. They have a lot of activities and are very close to their doctors. They have different parties that involve the families. I think there's a bowling team and different games. We have eaten there with them, and food was good.

Winnwood is surrounded with woods and flowers. It’s in a pretty location, and that’s what I really like about it; plus it’s on a big acreage. The people were pretty nice there. They go to the grocery stores, on field trips and do a lot of activities. It had nice and clean one-bedroom apartments.

Winnwood is a really good place in terms of the services, the campus, the grounds, and everything. It's been there for 25 years, so they know what they're doing. We were a little worried the first night but fine ever since. My mom and dad have said the food has been very good. The activities are good, and we're trying to get Mom and Dad to participate in them a little more. Right now, they're still adjusting to change, but it's good.

I was at Winnwood Retirement Community. It was privately owned. They changed managers four times in three years, and it never got any better. The staff had a complete turnover several times, and they were not particularly caring. The food was OK.

Winnwood was very homey and warm. The woman that took us around was very open, very friendly, and helpful. We looked at the two-bedroom, and it was ample. They had activities, and they seemed to be sufficient.

I visited this facility
Winnwood Retirement Community has single rooms. They have apartments with 1 or 2 bedrooms. It would be the apartment with 1 bedroom that I was interested in. They are lovely. They have sufficient windows, and they have enough room. They have a small kitchen. They do not have a dishwasher in the kitchen, but other than that, all the appliances are there. They serve only one meal, which is dinner at night. You make your own breakfast and lunch. They have all the activities that anyone could desire. I was very pleased with it, but we work very hard for our money, and I do not like to have to pay almost $3,000 a month. It's a lot of money, so I haven't gone ahead with it. The dining room is lovely. They have tablecloths and nice service.
