I visited this facility

When we were walking around Brandon Wilde, it was very nice. One of the questions I had that they would ask me was "Is your husband aggressive?" And my husband fell under that category, but he's on dementia medication that helps that and I appreciate the director when he said "If he's aggressive, this will not work here at Brandon Wilde." They're not set up to handle that. He was honest with me. I asked "Do you have any recommendations?" and he recommended another facility where he had worked three years prior going to Brandon Wilde so he was familiar with everyone there. He called them up and I toured the place and liked it, too. Brandon Wilde was more upscale. The apartments were nice and bigger. They were more like a senior living room. They had like a living area where you had your bed and you could have a chair or two and then the bathroom. There were three rooms. There was the bed area, and then there was almost like a little living room area and the bathroom. It was nice, clean, and didn't smell.

I visited this facility

Brandon Wilde was a continuing care community. The negative thing about it was it had a very large upfront fee that you don't get back. It's first come, first served, and you don't pay the market rate for the additional services should you need them. But it was a very nice facility with tons of amenities, including an indoor pool, a real gym with equipment, a salon, a restaurant, an activity room, walking trails, and gardens. It had everything, like an all-inclusive resort. We met several members of the staff and they were all very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable.

Andrea, thank you for your kind words about our team. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback. Take care!

I visited this facility

I toured the Brandon Wilde, it's a classy, first-rate place. I met some of the staff, and they're outstanding. People were playing cards, doing puzzles, and working together. It's a positive atmosphere. I saw a 1-bedroom and a studio apartment, and the layouts were good. It's a very impressive and very cordial place, and the campus was very nice.

Brandon Wilde was a very nice campus. Everything seemed to be very well cared for and upkept. The size of the rooms in the cottages was adequate. The staff was very good.

I visited this facility

My husband and I toured Brandon Wilde. It's a lovely and wonderful place. I can't imagine anyone not liking the place. I would say it's luxurious. It's certainly high-end and has everything you could think of facility-wise. We didn't interact a lot with the staff there but the people we encountered were friendly. The decor of the whole place is very lovely and very well done. We have not chosen it simply because we decided we did not want to invest front end in a continuing care facility and that's what Brandon Wilde offers. We made an appointment and we had lunch there. They had a whole program set up. They had a whole group of people like us, and we were welcomed in. We had a lovely, elegant lunch and there was a stage in the room. They had residents there on the stage sitting, and after we finished eating, they kind of gave testimonials. We saw independent living because that's what we were interested in. It was beautiful. This place is great and it's not cheap. The presentation of the food was elegant, and the food itself was delicious. The facilities are high-end and top-of-the-line. Their swimming pool was just beautiful. They have a separate library, too. And their workout area, their gym, was up to date, new, and modern; everything is that way.

I visited this facility

Brandon Wilde is more like a nursing home; it has that nursing home vibe. I know they have areas where people can live on their own though. It's kind of broken up into sections. I guess it depends on your level of need, but if you're still functioning you can also live there. The memory care portion of it just falls into being just a nursing home to me. I didn't like it. I can't remember his name of the person who showed us around. I felt like he was very rude, and he wasn't listening. We were very specific in what we were looking for. You don't have to tell me what's not available out there or what somebody else does or doesn't do. He's like "Oh, they don't do that. They can't do that." I didn't like that at all. We just had to cut the visit short. I wouldn't recommend anybody to go there. He's very condescending, telling us what things have to be, telling us there's no way we would be able to keep the patient at home. He doesn't know that, and that's not his decision to make. It's just not acceptable to me. In my opinion, the place is basically a glorified nursing home. It's like you can live there as assisted living, but once you need anything more than that you just get the nursing home. I looked at the memory care, but it just looked like a nursing home to me. I wish I wouldn't go there. I wouldn't want my children to put me there. It's like once you need memory care, it's no longer a homey atmosphere. They had a day room. I actually didn't see an exercise room. They have a little reading area and stuff, but it doesn't hold a candle to the other place at all. They don't have a chef. I saw the menu, and there was nothing impressive. They did have pretty gardens and walking paths.

I visited this facility

We went to Brandon Wilde. It's established by one of the hospitals here, they have a lot of amenities, and it's a very nice place. They take them on a lot of activities, and they have a ton of amenities. They even have a podiatrist, dentist, and doctors who come during the week.

Brandon Wilde had a great setup, or so we thought. We were instrumental in helping my mother-in-law and father in-law find a place where they would be able to live until they were finally able to join their family in heaven. Because he was already showing signs of Dementia he did not qualify for what they call life time care, the care you sign up for when you pay the large chuck of money with the knowledge you will always be able to call Brandon Wilde (BW) "home" until you are somewhere over the rainbow. To be continued after further deliberation.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Brandon Wilde had a different kind of a setup. They have the Alzheimer’s house, and my mother was in there for a while until she started to fall. It was more like a separate apartment, but it was a locked facility. The facility is locked, but they can move from apartment to apartment, and they had a dining hall and all that stuff. But then when she started to fall and had to use a walker, they moved her into the Arbor, which isn’t necessarily a memory care unit but more of where you cannot take care of yourself and you need to be in a locked down kind of unit. It was kind of a common area, dining hall, and then a fun room with shared rooms, and she shared a room with another resident. So when I put her in there, she just was really agitated, and they didn’t really know how to handle my mom. She was agitated and got kind of violent and aggressive. It was not a good fit once she got to that point. Until then, I was fine with Brandon Wilde. So it was just when my mom reached end stage of her Alzheimer’s and they weren’t trained to work with her even though they had an Alzheimer’s unit. It just bothered me.

My mom is now at Brandon Wilde, and it is fabulous. It is very inviting and very homey. It is a wonderful place. I will recommend that to anyone. My mom is in a private room. It is nice with adequate space. She has her bed, some furniture, and a recliner, and as far as her room goes, it is very nice. The food is excellent. They have a regular dining room, and they have a private dining room. It is very cheery and well-spaced. It has a table where people can sit and communicate. It is a very inviting place. They have tablecloths, napkins, nice silverware, and plates. It is very nice. They have musicians come in and play the piano or sing. They do post activities on the wall.

Overall, my grand-mom has had a great experience here. She is very fond of the staff, she comments on their politeness whenever we visit her. The residents are also very nice, for the most part. She has met some great friends and definitely has a social life. She has really become active in the community, she writes for the Brandon Wilde paper, and is on several committees, including the facilities committee. She helped redecorate several areas, and the staff really listens to her suggestions. As for the look of Brandon Wilde, it is very nice. The buildings are very well maintained, and there is currently active construction as they improve their facility. Whenever I go inside, I am greated by friendly staff welcoming me to Brandon Wilde. I also enjoy the conversations with the residents while I visit. I would highly recommend Brandon Wilde, my grand-mom chose to buy an apartment, but they also have options for renting apartments of all sizes.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I last visited Brandon Wilde 2 years ago. Overall, Brandon Wilde really impressed me as a lovely place to live for the elderly. Driving in to the facility I thought that the landscaping was very pretty, trees and bushes all trimmed neatly. There was enough greenery and shade so that the outside environment was cool and quiet. I met my elderly friend in the commons area of Brandon Wilde. It was large and well-lit. I would describe the atmosphere in one word as "cozy". There were several areas of comfy chairs clustered around tables. We saw down, played card games and chatted. Since it was early in the morning I did not see many other residents, or the living quarters. She did seem very content about her life although she complained about boredom and not having enough friends at the facility.I only interacted with the receptionist; other staff did not approach us which I was fine with. I did not think they needed to be more solicitious. I don't know any financial information, such as how much it costs to live there. I believe the son of the lady I was visiting mentioned that it's a non-profit organization, which is always a plus.

The grounds are cleans and maintained, the facilities are clean and smell fresh instead of the typical smell most facilities have. The staff was friendly and accommodating, but not hovering. They provided a multiple of activities for residents. They also have a separate housing development for the fully independent living. These houses are quite large and very luxurious.

Friend or relative of resident

My Granny stayed in Brandon Wilde for about a year before she passed away. She seemed to enjoy the place. They had activities for the residents to do to stay occupied. The place always seemed to be well maintained and the staff was very friendly. The thing I loved the most about the place is that it looked like regular apartments. Each room had a patio that the visitors could walk up to if they did not want to go inside the building. It made my Granny feel less like she was in an assisted living facility and more like she had just rented a new home.
