I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We visited this facility when family medical issues made it impossible to continue to care for our Mom at home. We toured the facility, were given a great sales pitch and were told as our Mother's needs increased, her care would increase. We were told her dietary needs would be met, she needed soft easy to eat foods. We were also told as her time grew near we would have unlimited access to visit her. Nothing could have been further from the truth. Our visits were limited. She was given food she could not eat. When we reminded them she needed soft foods they went from giving her a chicken leg to blended mush. We would go to see her, at our "scheduled" time and find her sitting in her chair with her food tray half way across the room. We began visiting at lunch time and dinner time to help her eat. When we asked if someone could help her with breakfast we were told "this is assisted living, not a nursing home". One day I went to visit my Mother and she was lying at an angle in her bed, crying "help, help". No one could tell me how long she had been in that position. I could write a lengthy entry stating many bad instances and how our Mother was not properly cared for. Even in my Mother's final days we were not given the unlimited access we were told would be given to us. When our "alloted" time was up someone would come to my Mother's room to tell us we had to leave. When my Mother passed the hospice organization that assisted her in her final days kept in touch with her children and offered assistance for a year. We never heard a word from anyone at The Pearl. I wish we had never taken our Mother to The Pearl.

My mom is now at The Pearl at Dallas. The staff is quick to answer questions. Overall, they take care of my mom. I am very happy with the situation. You can purchase a meal and go have dinner with them, but I haven't done that yet. They have several secured gardens that are almost in the center of the building, so you can go outside. There is push button security. So if the residents want to, they can go outside and still have staff to monitor them. I think that's pretty good. They have a big list of activities that they do with them. They have bingo. They paint their fingernails. They have dances. They have live music and plays that come every so often. They have an arts and crafts room. They have scheduled events for different things. They have church services on Sundays, too.

Provider Response

Hi Shane, we are very happy to have provided you with such a positive experience! If you ever need anything else from us, please feel free to give us a call or stop by. Have an awesome day!

Great place to leave a loved one to die. Loved one has been left in a soiled, urinated diaper all day on many occasions and has led to a specific instance of an emergency room visit due to the infection (a result of negligence in care). Horrible care, inexperienced, rude, and very lazy. If your loved one doesn't need any care, you will be good here. Any type of consistent, quality care is not to be found here. The food is not nutritious at all...

Provider Response

We appreciate you bringing this experience to our attention. If you are willing, please contact us so we can work towards a resolution. We look forward to hearing from you.

I visited this facility

The Pearl at Dallas seems a lot more welcoming and more like a community. They make sure that there are a lot of social events going on so that the people have something to do all the time. When you walk in, you are greeted happily. Even the nursing staff looked happy to be there. The rooms were nice, spacious, and clean. They showed me a dining room where you can go in and sit down with your family. You just reserve it. They also have a salon that I thought was pretty cool, so people go once a week, and they can even get their nails done. It looks like they have a picnic garden area. They had activities outside as well, like cornhole. The courtyard was set up for people to be able to go outside and play.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments about our community. We strive hard at The Pearl to make sure that everything about our community feels like home to our residents and every one of our guests. Thank you for visiting with us and we hope to see you again soon!

I visited this facility

Everything about The Pearl at Dallas was a 5. The only reason we didn't go there is because of the distance from my home and costs. It was top notch and strictly memory care. Everything was very new, very clean, and very state-of-the-art. It's really pretty. The staff members we met were very friendly. They had a great activities calendar with weekly outings and a lot of cookouts. Their activities director must be really good.

Westminster is a new, clean community, so we are very pleased. They have very caring staff, something going on for the residents every day, and an open garden that my husband can walk around in.
