I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Sunrise at Buckhead 3 weeks ago. I like their memory care. It is just very lively, and the staff is very respectful, helpful, and kind. They seem to know everybody. I like that they do things like family game nights and they have activities even for the memory care residents. Mom has a studio room. It is very bright, and I like that it is on the fourth floor with a view of the trees and everything. My mother says she likes the food. They have a salon, PT, and OT in-house.

I liked Sunrise at Buckhead a lot. I liked the manager. She seemed very competent. It was very clean. The management was really good. The staff was good. It was clean. It's a 24-hour place. They have pretty much all the same offerings, but I just personally like it because of the management. The room was nice, but you have to put your own furniture in it. They don't supply furniture and that was not a good thing. The food was average. Nothing was outstanding, but it was okay. They had painting groups and exercise groups. All the kinds of things we were looking for, they seemed to have.

We chose Sunrise at Buckhead for my dad, and he's been there for a month now. It is a wonderful place. I think they have a very nice staff, and they seem helpful and attentive. Dad does physical therapy, occupational therapy, and memory therapy. They also have exercise programs where they can dance, and do different things to keep the residents occupied throughout the day. They have several places inside and outside where you could be with your relatives or by yourself. Can't give a perfect rating because the elevator was dirty, and the restroom I went to one time had a strong urine smell.

Provider Response

Sunrise at Buckhead seemed good, though the place seemed a little bit old. The decor maybe needed a little bit of refreshing, but it seems they're in the middle of doing that. The person that was showing me around was very, very nice. I saw a bare room with nothing in it, but it was fine. The facility was clean. The room I saw needed to be done up, but maybe that was being done. It wasn't the most inspiring room in the world. The size was good enough. I was impressed with the fact that they have a lot less people on the floor than where my mom is right now. They had rooms that families could visit.

I visited this facility

I visited Sunrise at Buckhead. I saw the whole facility but I was interested in memory care. Just walking in from the foyer is nice. You walk in on the first floor and it's very spacious. I noticed a lot of staff, but the appearance was nice, really clean, bright, and very well kept. I talked to the director of sales. I told her about dad's situation and that I'm just kind of looking trying to get ahead of things. She understood and she gave me some good insight. She showed me the options that they have and explained the procedures at that location and how they could assist dad if we end up going there. We had a tour of the facility and the option of the different rooms that they offer and she introduced the staff to me as we met them along the tour. It was nice. They have different activities and what I observed was that an activities coordinator was setting up some music for some of the memory care patients. She showed me all the things that they're able to do, where they just lounge and watch television or play some interactive games. For the most part in that time of day, a lot of them were just kind of relaxing and just trying to enjoy the afternoon. The director of sales was very detailed in how she explained everything. I liked what I saw. She was upfront initially and showed me the price points for the units there. It was a pleasant experience. I was pleasantly surprised. She was very cordial and as we walked around, she introduced me to any staff that we happened to bump into and explained what they did there and what their role was. She was a very good tour guide. There's a portion of the first floor that was under construction. They're remodeling a part of it. Other than that, it was still very well kept, very well lit, and clean. I didn't notice anything that looked to be out of order in any way.

The Sunrise at Buckhead was nice, and I could definitely see my mother being there, but they were going through some renovations. I still got the tour of their assisted living though. The staff was very nice and the rooms were also very spacious. I was able to see the studio and the one-bedroom. The dining area was going through a renovation, but it looked very spacious. Their upkeep was very good, there was just that renovation in the dining area, but they keep the place up-to-date.

Sunrise at Buckhead had a very well-organized system. I was very impressed with them. They had nice facilities and an excellent location. The staff was professional, pleasant, and they made every effort to make sure that I saw the facility and what it had to offer. They were excellent. It seemed like they had a proper facility for assisted living.

I visited this facility

The grounds at Sunrise at Buckhead were beautiful, and the facility was nice, although it looked a little bit older. It's very cozy because everything's a little bit smaller. The rooms are small, and the areas where they sit are small, so there are not a lot of places for them to spread out. There are just a couple of little areas for them to be. I did not like that the memory care was up on the third floor because in an emergency, my first thought was how do you herd them, since memory care patients are used to their routines. When you take them out of their routines, that tends to cause them great stress, chaos, and panic, as I have experienced with my ex-husband. When you have a whole unit of those whom you're trying to herd downstairs in an emergency, especially if they're not completely ambulatory, that doesn't seem like the safest place for them. That made me a little nervous. It probably is fine because emergencies don't happen very often, but it was a concern of mine, thinking of how they would get him down in an emergency without upsetting him. I like that they have places where you have to stop and check in to get in and out of the building for memory care. I felt like having the assisted living side locked in was a little bit overkill, but I understand that different people have different needs and different places have different things. The facility and the campus were very nice and a little cozy, so everything was closer together and smaller. It goes up instead of sprawling. It is probably not my cup of tea personally, because I feel like everything was just too close together. He likes to be able to have his own space, too, and I was afraid that might make it a little too uncomfortable for him. The staff there was great, though.

Sunrise at Buckhead is good, and so far we're liking it. There are no complaints on my mother-in-law's end. Communication is good. She's only been there for a short time, but they've been really good and really helpful. They have a courtyard, though I've never really seen it. With regards to the care, we have no complaints. She's there for assisted living, but they also offer a higher level of care.

I visited this facility

We visited Sunrise at Buckhead. They had no Covid cases at all. We were limited in what we were able to see but everyone was very welcoming. I was able to see the rooms and we were able to see what activities were going on. I was not able to see their faces, but I saw they were doing this and that. I loved it and I know she will be very happy there. They were able to say what is happening now and the families are able to visit. Of course, you have to come out but at least they have a little area that you could sit in while you wait and they take your temperature. They put those things in place so people could at least see their loved ones. They had limited activities but at least they have a choice of 6 activities they could do throughout the week or each day, about 3 a day. Not only could she go out if she wanted to, but they actually bring in the different ministers and priests into the facility. They were able to get sacraments, too. They inquired and they said it appeared she is going to be level 1 or level 2 and they gave us information, so we understood what she is going to get at different levels, and able to say that it is reasonable. I was just happy with the fact that she will be able to get out and meet with people at the facility and even though she could not go out, they have enough going on in the facility that I could feel comfortable with her being there. They were very flexible; she could order out food if she want. They have all types of things and they were reasonable but still safe. The staff were very nice. Some were leaving while we were there, and they were able to speak with us. It was just very welcoming. At the time, they were doing flower arrangements and they had a little exercise class going on or they had just finished with. And they only do it in groups of 4 or something. They had the church coming in to give different services. They also have dancing. Little things like that. They go out in the community and if they need to go at certain stores they can if they have the mask. They had a nice walking trail outside where if nothing else she could go walk around. They have a camera where they could watch anyone who will walk that trail. It was just very convenient. I understand the difference between Atlanta and New York, but I liked it because I felt comfortable that if she cannot go out at least they have enough going on to where she does not feel like she is just sitting all day with no stimulation. It was last minute, but she allowed us to come in, and they took our temperature and everything.

Sunrise at Buckhead is not perfect, but it's pretty close to it. It's very nice. Everybody in the family loves it, and my father absolutely loves it. His studio is small, but it's perfect for him. They have lots of activities. The dining area is great, and the food is pretty good. The staff is great, too.

Sunrise at Buckhead was durable and nice. They tried to approve me, but my brother is not really conscious enough to their standards. The rooms are nice but small. They do their best. I'd give them a 3. They were clean, neat, and good enough. I saw a receptionist and group counseling trainings in the reception area.

My dad is in Sunrise. It is very open and inviting. I really like the whole staff. So far, I am loving it. The facility location is awesome with beautiful grounds. I have nothing but good things to say about the layout. Even during meals, they have a choice, and he loves the food. They do not just eat spaghetti. I have lunch there, and I say the dining area is classy. I will want them to play more games.

Everything seemed fine, and I did not come across any problems with Sunrise at Buckhead. The staffs were fine. They were very attentive, and they seemed knowledgeable. The rooms are about what I would expect it to be. They are big enough but not too big. As you get into senior living, you don't want something too big anyway. You are not going to use all the space. They have the outdoor patio and the indoor patio. I had no problem looking at the menu and the dining area. All of that seemed fine. I like the setup of this facility. The location is good, and it seems fairly secured. They have plenty of activities. Besides the independent living, they also have the assisted living and the memory care living too.

I visited Sunrise. They have a very nice facility. They had a lot of activities. They have an activity person that comes specifically to do physical fitness with them and dancing. They also have a reader, a machine for people whose sight is not really great. You can put your books on that, and it makes writing larger. They had a nice dining room too. The food was very good. The rooms were very nice; they were larger. However, it’s more expensive than the other one. It wasn’t integrated, so I didn’t choose it. This could have been my second choice.

I couldn't be happier with the care my Mom receives at Sunrise. She has A LOT of needs and can be a challenge, but their staff (especially the head nurses) is patient and kind. The rooms are smaller than some other places but I feel that encourages her to leave her room and take part in activities and to socialize. She's is doing very well since she moved in 4 months ago and both of us couldn't be happier.

Sunrise at Buckhead was in a great location because it was close to a hospital. However, they did not have the full level of care that I needed for my parents. When I toured the facility, I did not like the rooms at all. The rooms were very long and had a very dull environment. There was nothing much you could do to spruce it up or arrange furniture in different ways. It was a studio apartment and I did not want to put my parents in a studio. It would be nice if the could make it more homey. They had to make it comfortable for the residents that they would not feel abandoned by their families, but it should remind them of home. All the apartments I saw were dark and drab, no light came through, and had one window each. It did not meet my needs but it did not mean that it wouldn't be a great place for someone else.

I was impressed with Sunrise at Buckhead. They will assign a specific caregiver to you everyday and you will have access to that particular caregiver. It was clean and very nice facility, very beautiful aside. The staff seemed very friendly.

Indoors, the facility is fairly well kept. Out doors there are some issues of noise pollution as it is very close to a major road. In addition to this, there have been instances of wasp infestations in areas where residents are meant to relax. The staff members are friendly, but some of them seem a little inexperience for the position. Overall, it seems like an adequate community, but there are not doubt better ones out there.

Its more on the expensive side but its all worth it. Not only is the building beautiful inside and out. But the staff make you feel so welcomed and are so caring. From helping you with the simplest task like putting on jewelry to doing the hardest thing like changing soil pants.

This facility is really very beautiful and my aunt loves it here. She has been living here for over 3 months and says that she feels like she has found a group of new friends by getting involved with the activities. I'm able to visit her a lot, her room is very big and decorated in a way that my aunt just loves. Something special that she loves is that there is a dog on the floor that she just adores, and I think things like that are wonderful for the pet lovers in us.

Sunrise was very helpful with my grandmother. They took her in and made her room look just like home for her. They help her out with daily routines and make sure that she gets the medical attention she deserves. On several occasions, she would not want to leave her bed, however, they encouraged her to and to interact with the other residents of Sunrise. She would do so, sometimes begrudgingly. Sunrise encourages the residents to not feel like this is a hospice, but a community where they can meet new people, interact and still have the vitality they had before, and still be independent.
