I visited this facility

Dunwoody Place was nice. What stood out to us was the interactions that the staff had with all the residents. While we were walking around, the residents knew her, and she greeted them and interacted with them. The residents were a priority even while we were on the tour. So that was huge for us that they cared about their residents from what we saw. The residents seemed happy, too. The staff seemed accommodating and friendly. The place seemed clean and nice. The showers had a lift in some of the rooms, but that's not necessarily an issue. They also had rooms without them.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Right now, mom is at Dunwoody Place and she's doing OK. The place is very clean and very nice. The staff is really nice, too. They have a basic price, and then they add on based on how much care you have. They are a little bit high compared to some areas, but it's got a really nice neighborhood. They have a really good therapist that works with people to help them get back on their own when they've had problems. They have a dining hall, and if the person can't get to the dining hall, they serve them in the room.

My mom is in Dunwoody Place and I chose her to be there because they have different levels available as her care increases and they have a lovely facility. I like that they have newly renovated rooms and that they include meals, laundry, and housekeeping. The staff has been delightful and everybody has been so nice and so accommodating. I think the food is above average. It's not perfect, but I think it's very good, especially for a high volume of residents. They not only give you what's on the list for the day, but you can also order off a list of four or five items, like a hamburger or grilled cheese, and I appreciate that. They have a PT and OT department, an activities area, a chapel, a nice courtyard outside, and a library.

My sister has already moved into Dunwoody Place and we received a combination of discounts. They offer a realistic zero dollar level zero care level. Nobody else does that. I never got past the entryway due to COVID, but it looked like a nice place. The staff members I have dealt over the phone and the personnel during the move were all quite professional and helpful. My sister likes most everything in terms of the food. Due to COVID, people are going back online with different things at different times. They have a large courtyard and they had a couple of concerts there recently that she enjoyed.

I visited this facility

I went to Dunwoody Place. The price range fit what we were comfortable with. They had some skilled nursing components, and they can outsource home health agencies. The rooms were very spacious, remodelled, and had a couple of different floor plans available. They had a lot of activities planned for the residents, and a lot of residents were involved.

I visited this facility

I visited Brookdale, and the person I talked to was very informative, but I didn't qualify. I was looking for apartments. However, it looked really nice and clean. The people were nice. The staff was nice, courteous, respected me, and tried to help me out.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mom has been a resident here for 5 years living independently. She is cognitively intact but wheel chair dependent. For the first 2 years they had a very good executive director but she left. Basically the facility has been without leadership for 2-3 years. It has been difficult to get the smallest issue resolved and never any follow up. Huge staff turn over and shortages. Long waits for food in the dining room and food is terrible. Sometimes no housecleaning staff to clean the apartments. They seem to realize that this facility has major issues. They remodeled the common areas but when my Mom moved in they did not rehab her apartment basically repaint or even clean the carpet. Five years later it is horrible and when I asked about they told me that they only rehab between residents. The administrator who gave me this information basically was pretty nasty about it. I try to be polite always. My Mom is starting to need more assistance with her ADLs and believe I do not trust this facility to deliver acceptable care no matter how much I pay extra for it.

Brookdale Dunwoody is a great community -- great senior living and family-oriented and caring staff. They have a calendar of activities so you would know what’s going on every month. From the menu that I saw, they have well balanced meals, and they also have in-between meals.

We are moving my father. The food is terrible and it takes forever to get attention of wait staff. Staff does not care about residents, especially in the dining room. I have observed a 45 minute wait for food and it looks disgusting when it arrives. They had a brunch in February and the staff in the dining room did not know about the brunch. Building is falling apart. If you want decent food don't come here.

Brookdale is fancy looking, it has a large parking space. The respite rooms are on the second floor, so you have to come down and use the elevator. The people who are staying there looked happy. They have three dining places, and they have a gym.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Brookdale Dunwoody does seem to care a lot with their residents. I chose this particular location out of four; then I got it down to two. They were both Brookdale communities, and they were equal distance from my house. One is an easy drive, and one is a hard drive. The easy drive was a couple of hundred dollars cheaper. I chose this one, which is a couple of hundred dollars more and a harder drive, because they really seem to understand my particular situation. They helped me arrange care for my husband to where I'm confident that he is safe, and I can have a life of my own. The food is really OK. I have a specific problem with my husband which has nothing to do with the management. He is 95, he had trouble swallowing, and he doesn't like eating. I'd like it if I went there. They can accommodate any particular diet he wants. It's pleasant and clean, and I think the breakfast is great. They have a full list of activities, but my husband doesn't do any of them because he is just sort of not interested. They have everything like games and Wi-Fi. If you want to do something else, they can do that activity.

The location of Brookdale was good, and the service was perfect. They serve three meals a day, and we have an assistant who comes in and helps with things in the apartment. The management is responsive and attentive to problems.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've lived here for four years, and this is a very nice and comfortable facility. Anytime dining (7 to 7) is an outstanding feature, the common areas were redecorated in 2012, and most of the staff have been here longer than I. It's conveniently located to Perimeter Mall, Northside & St Joseph's hospitals, grocery stores, and transportation is provided for medical appointments, shopping, church, etc. I hope you'll stop by to visit Emeritus at Dunwoody.
