Assisted Living Reviews for Cresthaven East Assisted Living Community

I am a friend or relative of resident

The facility is not very modern or clean. The rooms have carpet which is only vacuumed once a week and very rarely shampooed so there is a definite smell to them. The food there is not very appetizing. The menu doesn't change from month to month and they do not actually cook the food there, it is brought in by truck and then just reheated. My mother has been there for 4 years and has not yet seen a dietitian to go over a diabetic diet with her. It doesn't seem to matter what the residents restrictions are (ie low sugar or salt), they are all given the same food. The so called "nurses" have charting techniques that leave something to be desired. When my mother was admitted to hospital the facility provided incorrect medication records and therefore she received incorrect medications in the hospital. They don't really listen to the residents complaints. There was a period of 3 months when complaints were made about a faulty refrigerator and it took a call to the administration and a threat to have the appliance replaced. Personally if it were me, I would never in a million years stay in a place like this. My mother does have friends there though and when you are in you upper 80's it isn't easy to just get up and relocate. We would not recommend this facility. There must be nicer, cleaner and better operated ones for similar costs in the West Palm Beach area.

Take your loved ones to Cresthaven only if you want a guarantee they will end up in the hospital. My mom has high blood pressure and she had to go to the nurse station to get her blood pressure checked. She was not feeling well and had her waiting in the hallway until a nurse was "nice" enough to check it. After she did they had to call the ambulance and take her to the Emergency Room. If you care about your loved ones, don't send them to Cresthaven!

I visited this facility

Cresthaven East is a big facility. A gentleman came to interview my daughter, and they felt that they couldn’t give her the quality of care that she required. They suggested a smaller place. The people were very knowledgeable, and they gave me a lot of information to help me make a decision on where to take her and what place to look for. I really liked the people that worked there. They were very helpful and honest. They were very caring, and they wanted what was best for my daughter. It was a private room with a Jack and Jill bathroom. If she wanted to be involved with current events, they had that, and they had different kinds of games for the people. They had a small smoking area that was dated, but that was my preference. It would be good for somebody who didn’t have dementia or Alzheimer's.

My mom is settled in a very nice place. We're so happy. It's called Cresthaven. This place is much better for her mental capacity, because when she was in the house with 5 other people, they all had Alzheimer's, and she doesn't have that. There was no one to talk to. This place is big, and it has a library and a computer. It has a pool, too. And now, she can meet people. The staff was OK. They were friendly. She says the food is wonderful. She has a room with a roommate. The people in the room next door are nice. It wasn't dumpy; it was very nice. It was very clean, very lovely. She's upstairs, and when you look out over the balcony, it's really pretty. They have a bus that takes them a certain number of times a week to Wal-Mart. They have bingo time, but she's not a bingo person. They have groups and entertainers that come in on Sundays or other times. It motivates her to go and be with people. She can leave the room, whereas at the other place, she could leave if she wanted to, but it was harder.

I visited this facility

They have independent living, assisted living and Alzheimer's care. The one bedroom is beautiful. All face inward to each other and they do not face the outward street. They have three wings and they're only two stories, it's like a hotel. There are gardens and they even have animals. The place is full of squirrels. I'm just waiting for the VA's approval before I move into Cresthaven.

I visited this facility

I went to the Cresthaven for a meeting and the first thing you will see when you go in is a lot of people just sitting around in the lobby waiting for something to happen. They're not involved in any kind of activity, which made me wonder what kind of activities they have in there. I was not impressed with the place at all.

Cresthaven East is located in southern West Palm Beach, in a predominantly residental neighborhood surrounded by small track homes and a large retirement mobile home park. This antiquated facility appears to have been an two-story motel at one time, complete with shuffle board and pool. My mother moved into Cresthaven after living in a fancier, high-end facility that she was not comfortable in. In spite of its modest and "no-frills" decor, she felt more at ease at Cresthaven and instantly took a liking to the friendly staff. She's made some good connections with other residents and enjoys most recreational activities. They have a wonderful singing duo (husband and wife) that put on various entertainment shows on Sunday afternoons. Mom loves these. The lobby at Cresthaven is where all the residents come to watch tv, converse, play card games, or just relax away from their apartments. My only complaint with Cresthaven is the doctor on staff. I would strongly recommend a family member always be present when your loved one is visiting with him. All in all, my mother has received very good care from kind nurses and delightful staff that truly enjoy working with seniors!

Visited this facility

As hospice spiritual care communion officiant to assisted living residents, I was most impressed with the tropical, landscaped Cresthaven East, West Palm Beach, Florida; a facility offering both assisted and independent living. When making several visitations, I noticed on all occasions, the facility's cleanliness, staff's courtesy and availability to residents and residents' freedom to interact and enjoy each other in comfortable surroundings. I serviced moderately impaired Alzheimer's patients and consistently observed their neat appearance while administering communion in a secured yet nicely furnished area with an amiable ambiance. Professional staff was also present in the room offering physical assistance and support to other patients. Other residents seemed to enjoy Cresthaven's restaurant style dining which is quite impressive and does give the feel of being in a "real"Â restaurant. I was delighted to be informed by staff that residents families are invited to join their loved ones at mealtime. Visiting during senior activities time was a great experience as I observed and participated in activities planned and guided by the Activities Director. Activities were geared toward simple exercises with stimulating music appropriate for both passive and active residents. The Director of Nursing shared many of the other services offered that included spiritual care, specialized medical care, respite care, various therapies, community outings, arts and crafts, celebrations and more. Transportation is provided by the facility and some residents can even have pets. Overall, Cresthaven East seems to be a great resource for both independent and assisted living.
