My mother is currently being cared for at South Tampa Health and Rehab. They have been very attentive to her needs and she feels safe and secure at this facility. She likes the food and the friendly staff. I visit very often, almost daily, and find it facility clean and have not detected any odors. STR gives her family a peace of mind that she is being well cared for.

I visited this facility
I was a patient in the rehab unit following surgery to remove a brain tumor. The physical therapy and occupational therapy were top-notch. I was pushed to exercise in such a persistent way that I progressed fairly quickly. The experience was positive in all regards except for the truly awful food, which made me work even harder to get better.

I spoke to the admissions person and asked what insurance would cover and being very clear I told them that My mother would be admitted to Rehab then step down to Long term skilled Nursing. We , My step father and I were told the insurance they had would cover everything. We found out today that it will not cover the Long term Skilled nursing care so we have to go through the whole thing again. Thanks for nothing.

This review is based on my observation of the care given to my mother from December 24, 2015 to March 20, 2016. I visited my mother every day and made observations of the facility and staff . My mother was subjected to verbal and physical abuse. She was poorly treated. She is bedridden and is supposed to be re-positioned every 2 hours but this was not done. As a result she was in agony from being on her back for 3 months and not properly turned.. When she needed a nurse to administer pain medication, she had to wait an inordinate amount of time until the nurses felt like showing up. The nurses and CNA's in general had bad attitudes and did not want to be there. The rehabilitation staff did little to help my mother for 3 months. She was bedridden when she arrived and was the same when she left. One disgruntled CNA threw my mother into her bed like a sack of potatoes. There was a grievance filed over this incident. I met with the administrator but the incident was swept under the carpet. My mother had to be rushed to the hospital with a collapsed lung which I believe was caused by the bad treatment given to her. My mother will not be returning to this facility.

They are very nice, clean, and polite. They offer two options, and right now my father is in the individual bedroom at South Tampa Rehab. He cannot walk or anything, but I just see they have like an area where they all get together, they have music, and they post the little calendar with all the activities.

It is a dump. My father was there for 3 weeks. The facility had furniture and outdated hospital beds. The furniture was from from the early 70's. The staff were not very caring. Basically it was just a job. They didn't know basic things that they should know about their patients. Not even the medicine that they are taking. The food was disgusting. My father was on a gurd diet they gave him for dinner 3 days in row. Grilled cheese sandwich and one day for dinner no meat. His dinner was a few stalks of broccoli hard as a rock a mashed potatoes with some cheese melted on top. It if wasn't for myself and my sister taking him home cooked food for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I have to thank God my dad survived that dump. No wonder people die in places like that. I don't recommend it to anyone.

I have had family in this facility over the years and if there were another affordable we would have had them moved there. Sad to say for the money affordable it's the best place in Tampa at this time. However, it is also completely untrained, understaffed, confused, unmanaged, uncoordinated and the director has no idea what patient care means he only cares about the "looks" of the place and getting more people to come in....once in he has no idea what is going on in the place. Home if possible is the best answer but, the rehab dept. is very good......................

My stepfather was in this facility for 2 years and 9 months. They took him to a hospital to revaluate his meds. After the evaluation they refused to take him back. The hospital told me the term is DUMPING. Beware if they call and tell you your family member needs to go to the hospital.

I visited this facility
I visited South Tampa Health & Rehabilitation Center and noticed as I pulled into the parking area that there was ample spaces to park for employees and visitors. The plants and grass outside was not as well cared for as they could be, but the parking certainly made up for that.
When I walked up to the entrance of the facility I noticed many residents sitting around in wheel chairs smoking and just looking a little rough for wear. Several of the men were not clean shaven and there was a strong body odor smell before entering the doors to the facility.
When I walked inside noticed that the front reception area was fairly clean but when walking down the halls noticed strong urine odors.
The rooms each had 2 residents per room and each room had a bathroom to share. The rooms, hallways and dinning room were a very bland color and I think the place could certainly use some bright paint and pictures to brighten up the facility and the residents.
I arrived just as lunch was being served so was able to get a good look at the resident meals, which did not look to be too tasty and I noticed many of the residents left a good bit of food on their trays uneaten.
I would certainly not recommend this facility to anyo
