This is an old building that management is struggling to keep up in operation. When there are building or property repairs in need and rather than save money to pay for those , they decide to paint. Since my family member has been here, this is the forth time some area has been painted in two years. Most of the staff are nice but I guess like any other ALF there are those only here for a pay check . They claim that "we care and it shows" well I don't feel that the residents believe that statement. The food is less than prison food. Most of the dietary staff have a terrible attitude, two thirds of the meals are served cold, the quality of the food is poor and most meals offer frozen entrees, canned fruit and vegetables and day old bread and pastries. What fresh food offered isn't very fresh and close to expiring. It is disgusting to have to share a table with other residents that need bathing and/or have urine soaked clothes or worse. People are constantly stacked by the front door and the cigarette smoke is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Every time I have visited here, there have been roaches crawling about and in some hallways the smell of urine will almost burn your eyes. I could go on and on with negative comments however, Iam fairly certain you get the picture. For the amount charged for rent, these people should be better cared for and offered quality foods served by caring staff.

I visited this facility
Hanna Oaks ALF was at the bottom of our list. There was a smell to the place as soon as we walked in the door, the staff was nice and knowledgeable, I saw some people laying on the couches in the hallway, and the residents outside the front door smoking. I guess they were doing some activities outside, but I did not notice what it was. The room was average, with two beds, and no privacy.

My Aunt lived there for 3 1/2 years until very recently and she was well taken care of. Most of the staff there knew her well and were always very kind and doting. It is an older building but the staff work hard to keep it clean and nice and are very responsive to any requests.

I put my husband in Hanna Oaks. It was a big institution, and there were many Alzheimer's patients. At the other facility, he was kept clean and made sure he changed his clothes, but they didn't do that at Hanna Oaks. The facility was clean. They didn't have a bunch of people sitting around in their wheelchairs. It was less expensive and better than the other facility. They also had people who just needed assisted living, and it might have been good for them, but for someone with dementia, they didn't give my husband the attention that they said they would. As for amenities, they had an outside area where they can go and sit, they had the dining area and a library full of books, but I never saw anybody in there. The food wasn’t really good. They used canned vegetables and they didn't flavor them as much. It was like school cafeteria food.

I visited this facility
The Hanna Oaks Alf of Tampa assisted living facility was one of the places we saw while looking in the region for my friend's mother.
The wooded grounds were beautifully landscaped with plenty of rustic greenery. The residents are taken to many interesting events in the Tampa region, including festivals, fairs, the beach, restaurants, shopping, art and music venues.
The exercise center was well maintained, including daily classes with safe supervision. Their library was peaceful, with a nice selection to choose from.
Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, as well as whenever residents request them. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious and like what you would find in a five star eatery. The menus had traditional options as well as interesting exotic fare.
The living spaces were clean, bright, nicely decorated and comfortable. Residents may choose from private and semi-private spaces.
Every resident appeared to be very well cared for in a peaceful, yet fun environment by kind, caring and attentive staff.
