I am/was a resident of this facility

We're currently in Tarpon Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. They have physical therapy provisions, they've got 100 rooms or patients, and they seem to keep it clean. They have someone who comes by every day to dust, mop, and clean the toilet. The administrator is very good, the receptionists are very nice people, and they have a whole series of different department heads like human relations, dietitians, and housekeeping. They also have nurses. Nurses man the medical carts where you get your prescriptions every day, and they have a room specialist if you've got problems with the room or that type of thing. They have two separate areas: one is for people who need more than just normal work, some of whom may not be able to leave because of their mental capacity, and they're here permanently; and then they have another area where they work with people like me who are more independent, or like my wife who needs more therapy and treatment. They have CNAs. It's an older building. They have dining facilities, but we can't go to the dining area anymore. They bring lunches and dinners to you.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

5 Stars across the board! My mom had 4th stage terminal lung cancer, dementia and recovering from a broken shoulder. From the beginning, working with the DON Javier O. and the Admissions Rep Rosie C. through the end of my mother's life, we were treated with great care, dignity, compassion and lots of love by ALL we came into contact with. When my mom was admitted, under Medicaid, we expected her to be there for a while, as the cancer was not growing, but the dementia was present. She was immediately engaged in PT and all of the activities she AWESOME.... volleyball, basketball, parachute, bowling, karaoke, and so much more! The CNAs, RNs and everyone we came into contact with were terrific.... especially Rena, Protégé, Marie, & Jessica (and many more). It was discovered that the cancer had spread to my mom's brain about 4 weeks after her admission- she was experiencing several symptoms and together the medical staff were diligent in finding an answer in close contact with me. When Hospice came in, they were great, but it truly was the staff of Tarpon Point who held our hands, supported us all and loved my mom through the very end. I will never be able to thank each and everyone of them for their compassion and support, and I am forever grateful!!!!

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother stayed at Tarpon Point for rehab after a hospital stay. She had dementia, but was still able to walk with the assistance of a walker. That was until she stayed at Tarpon Point. I was assured that she would be getting the best of care and that she would leave there better for the stay as I filled out her paperwork. Seriously, if you have a spouse or loved one with memory issues, this is NOT the place to go for therapy for them. I have to live with the guilt that I feel for allowing her to stay there. When she left she was no longer able to walk at all. I understand it's "easier" for the staff and therapists to not take the time to assist her walking, but isn't that what they are there for??? I hope they improve their care, but I personally would not recommend them to anyone, ever!!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Right now my mother is in Tarpon Point Nursing Home. She is only going to be there for two months because Medicaid has started. She is getting more care than she actually needs. She is enjoying it. Her room is a double room, she has a roommate, and she shares a bathroom there. She has been playing bingo and cards. She is just having a good time there. The staff is really good. They are polite. They have been excellent. The nurses are taking care of what she needs.
