I visited this facility

I've toured Glenridge on Palmer Ranch on a group tour. It is in a very nice neighborhood in a planned community. It has some very nice things about it. They have adult courses and things like that. It is one of the three places in town for the people who are kind of affluent. It has a very nice gym. It's an upscale place. It's not a very old place, so everything is quite modern. There's security as you drive onto the property. It's a place that has a lot of pluses to it. They have an ice cream parlor. They have two dining rooms. In one of them you would have to wear a jacket, and in the other you don't need to be as dressed up. They have a theater. They have a lot of amenities. You have a certain meal allowance. It's a place that has some stature to it, and a lot of amenities. The only thing that I found negative is that you're allowed to decorate your front door area, and some of it was like old lady stuff. That's the only thing. They had paintings by some people that live there. It's a pretty nice place to be. Another big plus is that they have a trainer and a fairly nice gym going on there.

I'm going to live at Glenridge on Palmer Ranch. Their grounds were superior, and they had individual homes. I was looking for independent living with continuing care, so that facility fits the bill. They had all the amenities, including an exercise area.

The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch claims to be Sarasota's Best CCRC. We did have lunch there. The food was not spectacular, but it was very good. My daughter noticed that all the ladies wear pearls to lunch, meaning they dress up. The whole place was high-end. It was lovely. The car that they have to drive people places happened to pull up in front and it was a high-end 4-door sedan. The facility was also huge, it had like 700 residents. The rooms ranged in size for independent living from 450 square feet to about 3000 to 4000-square foot homes. The refrigerator, the stove, and the dishwasher were all included. The staff was very nice. She hadn't been doing it very long, so it almost seemed like she wasn't really up to par with all the information we were requesting. She ended up pulling out a piece of paper with information on them. Honestly, to me, she didn't seem well prepared. My overall rating was based on the fact that this facility was too high-end for me.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I lived at Glenridge on Palmer Ranch three or four years ago. It's a very fine place. They have large grounds, and they're now building more houses on the grounds. So you can buy a house, use all the services of the Glenridge, and then if you need to move into the Glenridge you can just sell your house and move in. They also have assisted living and memory care, and they're putting up a tall building on the premises for doctors' offices so people don't have to go anywhere to see their doctors. It's an excellent place. I also have friends there, and I talk to them all the time. The grounds are very adequate in terms of walking your dog; it's very spacious and not like a building with small amount of space. They had two dining rooms: a fancy dining room and a regular dining room. I would go back if I could. The staff was always nice; there was nobody there you didn't want to talk to. Everybody plays cards and bingo and participates in activities; that always goes on, and it was nothing unusual. They were trying to set up a workshop for people who wanted to build things; that never came to pass, but they had good ideas.

Glenridge on Palmer Ranch had a very nice and impressive setup, but it was very expensive. The rooms were all nice and had everything you would need. It was much nicer than I had anticipated. They were quite large and I was impressed by how big they were. They take you to various doctors' offices or restaurants. They have tours, music, and other conveniences, like a dry cleaner that you could have access to. It was very inclusive and impressive. The food was very good. They're very good, cooperative, and organized. They knew what they were doing and I had a feeling of confidence with them.

Glenridge on Palmer Ranch is really very nice. It's pleasant to be here and the food is good. The services seem to be upgraded. You can be quite busy if you want to since there are activities every day. I live in a 1-bedroom apartment with one bedroom, one bathroom, one living room, and a closet. There's an area with a little refrigerator and a place for a coffee pot. It's all good and never bad.

We did go to the Glenridge in their independent living section. It was very upscale, and my parents loved that, but it wouldn’t accommodate them. They really need to be in assisted living. The accommodations were excellent. It was a beautiful community. We went over to their assisted living, but they didn’t have anything available, and they were doing renovations to the apartments that they were showing, so we couldn’t see anything. They have a beautiful restaurant type dining, a stage where they do plays and which was open to the public, a pool, and a wonderful gym; they have everything and anything you could ever want. It’s gorgeous.

We’re moving into Glenridge on Palmer Ranch in June. I did do some physical therapy there for about 15 days. I liked it a lot. Their physical therapy is very good, and the people are very understanding; they’re very nice people. We also liked it at that time because you can invite somebody, not just your husband or your wife, but anybody in your family to breakfast, lunch, and dinner, they would accommodate you. I had my daughter come a couple of times, but we never knew how expensive it was going to be. They never told us or anything and as it turned out, it was like $0.35 every time she came over to have dinner, and their meals were wonderful. They have many chefs because they have many dining areas, so we would not be using that dining area when we move in. They have the usual gym that you can use, an indoor swimming pool, and a restaurant where you can entertain people if you wish. We’ll also have access to the bar. Walking would be great, if I could walk, because it’s so pretty and kind of secluded even though there are so many apartments over there. What I like about it is they do not mix the people. They have separate wings for those who needed constant care, and then those of us who needed rehab only, and then those who needed assisted living, so it was very nice. We thought about it for a long time because it’s very expensive, but we thought that that might be the best place. In fact, I went over there because I know one of the people and I talked to her, but they didn’t have anything available. They thought they might have something available on June 1, or it could be a little later than that.

Glenridge on Palmer Ranch was lovely. It would be a 5 if you had a lot of money to put down upfront. Once we heard what the entrance fee was, we knew we weren't going to be going there. The place was lovely. They had a full theater with theater seating in it for entertainment. They bring in Broadway shows that are traveling on the road. They are A+++ in everything, except we can't afford them.

It is beautiful and very upscale, but there is a significant buy-in to get in. Everything was beautiful about Glenridge, but much more expensive than any place we had seen. My parents are quite elderly -- 88 and 89. It seems to be more of a place where you would want to get in when you're more like 70s and just plan on staying there for the rest of your life. There are independent apartments, and they have even standalone villas. For those folks that could be independent and have plenty of money, it's really good if they would want to make the commitment just to stay there from when they are still very active and independent and then progress to assisted when that time would come. Their activities are wonderful. They have a performing arts center where they bring in sometimes national talents to perform for their residents. They take them around. They have physical activities, yoga, swimming, field trips, and special dining. They are by far the nicest place we have seen. Their assisted living and memory care availability is limited as far as the number of units available, but they have a lot of land, and they are expanding.

We were impressed with Glenridge, but we had some concerns. One is that they have separate buildings and the dining rooms are all in one building, and then most of the units are in separate buildings which means no matter what the weather is, you've got to get over to the main building for a meal or for the activities. Otherwise, it was a lovely place. They took us into an empty assisted living area. We went in saw the common areas, but I don't think we saw any of the rooms like the dining room. The ones that we saw were mostly volunteers who are residents there who are involved in the tours. They seem to have a lot of visiting performers, like musical performers or people who come in and talk about health issues. They have good series of programs and they have a lot of clubs for different interests. I think the people who live there seem to have had interesting careers, are well traveled, well-educated, and have a lot of talent. There was a lot of artwork on the walls that some of the residents were on display and they seem to be pretty talented.

Glenridge has a wide variety of flexible plans, which we find very interesting. We like this facility. It seems quite nice and very comprehensive. We know people in this community and we visited them. What I like best about The Glenridge is its overall impression. Also I like that they have lots of activities going on and that they offer convenient transportation and so forth.

The advantage of Glenridge was that it had a lot of living options. You could choose from probably a dozen different layouts. They had a main dining room. They had art classes and similar activities that others had. The disadvantage was that it was huge. It had like 365 residents. I would recommend them to others.

Glenridge on Palmer Ranch was completely top of the line. It was the best because of the property itself, the programs they offered and most of the existing residents were still active. If a spouse went for rehabilitation or nursing program for a short time, they also had it. The place was totally clean and it was an A-rating facility.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The caregivers at the Glenridge where my mom and dad are at are so above and beyond the bar. The activities director Karen (Carroll Center skilled nursing) wrote the OSU alumni and told them my dad was a cheerleeder in th 50's and they sent all kinds of memorabilia, and a plaque! The speech therapist Jo wrote me my dad could really use the ipad to communciate since he has trouble communicating with everyone due to a hemmoragic stroke. Medicare will not pay for it because he is in skilled nursing but he was really computer savy before the stroke and does respond well to techology. I am so grateful my parents are at the Glenridge, it has enabled them to have satisfying quality of life no matter the physical, or mental state they are in.

The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch assisted living facility looked really well-kept from the outside when we arrived. My friend's mother's family has lived in the region for quite a while and they would like to stay in touch. We especially enjoyed the well manicured lawns and atmosphere of the grounds. My friend's mother loves to tend the garden and we could see that she would be impressed as well. The patio areas also had barbeques where they have hosted and private parties. The main foyer had a lovely receiving area, reminiscent of a quaint country home. The communal areas we saw all had interesting activities occurring, from reading to games and resident interactions. It looked like the residents were really enjoying living there. Outings scheduled included anything imaginable - from restaurants, to art museums, the library, to films, fine dining and theater. They also host parties for residents at the facility which they encourage friends and family to attend. The food choices looked nutritious and delicious, as well as the regular snacks - offered continually. The dining areas have comfortable and decorative seating options. The private living suites were all a nice size and did not seem cramped and were beautifully decorated. We could see that my friend's mother would be comfortable in any one of them. It was clear that the staff at this facility provides understanding and attentive caregivers for the best care of its residents.
