I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My sister is in Angels Senior Living at New Port Richey and everything is fine. It's a big facility and they're at capacity. It is clean, they have staff on site, and everything is good. The staff could keep a little bit more up to snuff on my sister's care, but other than that, the problems have been addressed and taken care of. They have several activities like dancing, they make jewelry and they play bingo. The dining area is nice, it's very well kept, and it's clean. The food is good, they have an on-site cook.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Angels Senior Living at New Port Richey does a good job but it is strictly assisted living and my friend has dementia. He was trying to get out all the time, and he did get out a couple of times. They're right there on a busy road so we're afraid that if he gets out again and nobody catches him, he could get hit. We thought that maybe we should find him a more secure place. They do well and they treat him well. It's just unfortunate that he has dementia and sometimes the door gets left unlocked. As far as taking care of him, they do a beautiful job of that. It's also a small place so that makes it nice that he's not just a number. The aides are very caring. They care for their people there so that's nice. They're not a huge place but they're clean and nice and that's what I was attracted to. We're all worried just about him trying to wander. Even though he's in a wheelchair they give him therapy and he gets up at times and can walk. You never know what his state of mind is going to be. I know it's just what they are, they are in assisted living and not a nursing home where they have the ankle bracelets or whatever they call those things. This place doesn't have that there. That's why we've talked about it and they said that if down the road he keeps progressing, then I'm going to have to move him. When you go there, you have to furnish your own beds and stuff. I had a hospital bed already here at the house anyway, so I just had to bring it in. I have to bring in everything. They feed him, they take care of him, and they do his laundry but everything else I had to bring. The doctors are there too but as far as his clothing, his diapers, and all that stuff, I have to furnish. That's the way they're set up, they're not a nursing home. They have bedrooms but no kitchen. The single rooms if you want your own and they also have shared ones. The building is built like a square and inside there's a courtyard. Part of it is in the sun, so the residents could go out there. They could visit and t smoke their cigarettes. They're not allowed to smoke in the building but they do give them a little place out there in the courtyard, the one section. They try to make them all happy. They do games and bingo. I'm even allowed to go in the dining room when he's sitting there eating his lunch. I can go in and sit with him. They get their 3 meals a day and give them a choice because sometimes whatever's on the menu, some of the residents don't like. They'll give them a choice of hamburgers and different things like that. That works out well, too. I know they have games for them and I've been there at times when they're doing their bingo so they try to keep them occupied. If you have an animal, they will also let you bring your pets as long as they're up to date with all their shots and they're friendly. They have 2 or 3 common areas and then they also have a private room to the side where you can go with your husband or wife or whatever so you can have some privacy too. They do bend over backward for them and I was impressed. Before I put him into this place, I looked at a lot of places and some of them are pretty rough. The staff all talk to them and smile, saying good morning to them. I've never heard anyone ever get angry with anyone and I've been in and out on different hours so there are different aides. The food is just basic. It looks good but it's nothing fancy. It's still healthy food though. There's chicken and fish. They have burgers and all that stuff. They serve them right there, and it's always hot when I go in. They offer me a dish, but I usually just take a cup of coffee. I found out today that they only get dessert in the evening meal. Today, I was there at lunch and somebody was asking if they could have dessert and they said that's only with your evening meal. Their family can bring them in anything though as long as it's in their diet. They could have a little refrigerator in their room too. Their family has to ring so they'd know what they're allowed to have according to the doctor's diet. I think they do it at a fair price, they make it affordable. When I had to put him into this place, I was petrified because we don't have that kind of money and it was hard finding a place that was still nice and affordable.

They don't have staff supervisor on late shifts, and the quality of food as well as quantity and variety is deplorable. Never fresh fruits, greens or vegetables.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We found Angels Senior Living for my mother. The staff seems friendly, and the place is brand new and clean. They have a number of activities, which is what my mom was looking for. They have some areas for the residents to sit outside, which is another thing she was interested in. I did eat there, and the food was fine. The dining room is plain, not fancy, but very clean and acceptable.
