I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I was very happy that my wife got out of Bayshore Memory Care. They did not treat her badly, they just treated her as though she was just a potted plant, sitting there to be taken care of. I had to get her out of there because she was tested positive for COVID, but she had no symptoms, so they couldn't send her to the hospital or hospice. They wanted outside nurses and they were the only ones that they approved to come in and sit with her 24 hours a day for 14 days until her quarantine was over. There was no way I could get around even though I tried. I had to hire nurses from their nursing home organization that they had approved to come in and be with her for 14 days. The price was $36 an hour and $11,000 for 14 days. When I got her down on the 19th to the new place, they took a COVID test immediately and she tested negative, which I've been told was impossible if she had tested positive two weeks before. Either she never had it or she certainly didn't have it when she went to the new nursing home. That's the reason that I snatched her up out of there and took her down to the new place. The physical facility seemed to be just fine. It's a 2-story building and everything in it seemed to work, clean, operable, nice, modern and they had a huge generator out back, so if they lose power, they just keep right on going and all the elevators are still working. The lobby looked just like a front lobby, clean and functioning, too. Even though I checked her in around March of 2020, I've never been to her room or up on the floor since. I can' tell a whole lot about what goes on inside of the facility. The visit I had with her were either at the tent outside or sitting on the bench at the front door or at an interior fire escape on the 1st floor on the North side of the building. All of those visits were 30 minutes only and then she had to return to her room. I never got any information from them as to how my wife was doing. Some of the staff were actually concerned about my wife, others seemed to be just going through the motions. It was also very expensive for what we were getting. I was paying a lot of money for it. Considering that she's 72 with Alzheimer's, they were incapable of isolating her and I had to hire outside staff to be there. That was just unbelievable.

I visited this facility

I went to Bayshore Memory Care, and my experience was pretty good. The problems I saw were that my husband had an electric scooter, but he wasn't allowed to use that there, and he had to share the bathroom. The staff was very nice, and kept calling and asking why I haven't decided on that one. They had transportation, trips, three meals a day, and passed out meds. The rooms were small, and you did not have your own bathroom. They had bridge and bingo. The building was a nice size. The dining area was on the first floor, and you would have to take the elevator to eat.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My 90 year old mother was living at an independent living center in Naples, needed additional care and we had to move quickly. We looked at 6 different memory care facilities locally and Bayshore was in a class by itself. The Bayshore team was very responsive and very flexible to accommodate us. My mom has been there almost 2 months now and we couldn’t be happier. We know she is clean and safe. The staff is professional, caring and very friendly. The food is very good and there are plenty of activities for mom. The facilities are first class and I would recommend Bayshore with reservation.

Provider Response

Dear Joe, We appreciate your taking time to provide your feedback. We are happy to hear your mom is experiencing the professional and caring environment that is our standard here at Bayshore Memory Care. Your comments are greatly appreciated.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband came to Bayshore Memory Care in June 2018. My wonderful daughter-in-law came from Indiana and we visited numerous places within 20 miles of Pine Ridge Road. Before she came she had been online and made contact with Bayshore. Everyone we spoke with was so nice and helpful. The first thing we noticed at Bayshore was there was NO ODOR! The community is nicely decorated and kept very clean. The executive staff are beyond nice. Everyone is very helpful and shows interest in not only the residents, but also the family members. They are always available to help or discuss any concerns the family may have. The activities person lines up different entertainers, parties and outings for the residents and families. Bayshore has the best nursing staff I have ever encountered. There are doctors that visit frequently and are available to meet with families for any questions. The nurses communicate to the doctors and family members any needs of the residents. The food at Bayshore is excellent! They have a great Chef who has worked with me continuously to ensure that my husband is not served something he shouldn't be because of his diet limitations. Bayshore has a great team - laundry, housekeeping and caregivers! I try to treat the caregivers how I would like to be treated if I was in their position. I have made friends with many of the caregivers and know all of them by first name. I always give them a kiss on the cheek and a hug. They are a wonderful group of people and I make sure to always thank them for their care. We (my husband and I) are VERY happy here. If you have a loved one that needs memory care - this is the place to be.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I began looking for a memory care facility for my husband about six months before I thought I’d need it. After researching many facilities near my home, a huge criteria, I narrowed my choice to 3 facilities. I decided on Bayshore based on the following: the ratio of aides to residents, the activities provided, the age of the facility, the nursing care in place, the age of the resident and the size of the rooms for the price. Moving my beloved husband at an early age is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I had been providing his total care for years and it proved too much for me. I couldn’t be more pleased with his residency at Bayshore. The food verges on gourmet, with new items added monthly. It is served by one of the most efficient, kind and caring women I have seen in a facility of this nature. The activities are stimulating for many of the residents, even though my husband does not participate on a daily basis. The certified health aides are outstanding. They seem to really care about the people they are caring for and will inform me daily about how my husband has been doing. They keep them clean and safe. I have heard several say how much they love their jobs. The nursing staff, on the premises at all times, are exemplar. They monitor meds are always on alert for changing conditions in the patient’s health. There are doctors who come every week and check on all who need attention. The housing department (maintenance, laundry, and cleaning) keep everything in top shape. Unlike some facilities, there is NO unpleasant odor anywhere. Feedback is accepted my management positively. There are monthly meetings to voice concerns as well as accolades. Hospice and Alzheimer’s programs are welcomed monthly as well. And finally, there is always a smiling, happy concierge to greet you and say goodbye. They are two of the most positive women I have ever met. My husband’s neurologist thought Bayshore would be the best fit for him at his age, and I totally agree with him. My mother was in a different memory care facility for three years. Even though she was much older, there is no comparison between what I had previously experienced and Bayshore Memory Care. Thank you Bayshore for taking such good care of my husband.

After touring several facilities, Bayshore was the best option for us. The location, the facility, the staff, the programs, all fit our needs. Now that she has been there for over 2 months, she is doing better than we could've ever expected. She participates in more activities than she ever did at home and the staff gives her the extra attention when we request it. The staff is open to our phone calls, texts and emails, which we greatly appreciate.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Recently, my uncle's dementia progressed to a level whereby he required a facility transition from assisted living to memory care. As a Marine vet who had never been married my wife and I were quite concerned as to my uncle's ability and willingness to transition to a less independent environment. Fortunately, after a thorough review of various memory care facilities in Naples, we selected Bayshore Memory Care for his residency. His transition has been remarkably seamless as a result of the excellent and professional care provided by the nursing, administrative and support staff. Importantly, as a new state of the art facility, Bayshore provides a thoughtful, nurturing and calm environment that has been very conducive to my uncle's successful move to memory care. Many thanks to Alisha and her wonderful and professional staff at Bayshore Memory Care.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

It is a very difficult decision to have a loved one move into a memory care unit. My wife, age 73, has had cognitive issues for 5 years and has declined over that time. We have had help in our home for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week for the last two years, but I finally was exhausted by the care needed from me in the remaining 16 hours per day. In late August 2016 she moved into Bayshore. Our experience has far exceeded my best expectations. She is content and feels very secure. She has never asked to leave and when I take her out for lunch or dinner she is always willing to return without any resistance. The staff at Bayshore is very compassionate and well trained. They have made her feel welcome and comfortable from day one. There are activities through out the day and my wife is much more stimulated and active than she has been in two or three years. She has a two room suite with a bathroom. We have furnished it with her own furniture and she is quite comfortable there, however, during the day she does not spend much time there since she enjoys the activities. She is sleeping better than when she was at home and I think it is due to her daily activities providing stimulation that results in her then having a good rest at night. The staff has also worked with me to make the transition as smooth as possible. They are always willing to discuss issues with me and there is a monthly support group meeting for family and caregivers. I visited several other facilities and felt Bayshore was superior. The main factor was my comfort with the staff who were very generous with their time and met with me and my family four times before we decided. The facility is new and well designed. There is no requirement to use a house doctor and my wife continues to use our existing GP. I am very happy with the care my wife is receiving and the support provided to me. I would recommend Bayshore without reservation
