I would not recommend Assisted living or Skilled nursing to anyone considering VOG. Although VOG was highly recommended, the level of care seems to have dropped significantly. Five families pulled a family member out of the facility at the same time we did and all cited a tremendous drop in the quality of care. If you need assistance in the room, don't expect anyone to respond to pushing the call button. It was either not answered or it took over an hour for help. On two occasions we found our family member half clothed lying in feces. I had to change the bedding and had to hunt someone down for help. We never left our family member alone after that. One day the staff did not even enter my family members room or check on them until 3:00 PM. We had to basically force the physical therapist to conduct therapy because they said my family member "didn't want to get up." Isn't that the therapists job to assist the patient even if it means helping them get up? Communication is sub par and a challenge to get questions answered or care coordinated. It is difficult to find any staff (especially at night) and if you see them, they are often on their phone. Also, good luck speaking with a Doctor. When we finally got to speak with one (after multiple attempts including hunting down their personal cell) they said "legally we don't have to visit the patient for 30 days." Our family member suffered a major health event and the Doctor responds with that?? Most of my family members drugs needed to be adjusted and they were dosing my family member with an inaccurate weight (it was overstated by 20 pounds.) For example, they were administering laxatives twice per day and my was family member was suffering horrendous diarrhea. If we hadn't had a fit they would still be administering the laxative. Bottom line is in AL and skilled nursing, you cannot trust VOG to look out for your loved one, If you are not there to advocate for your family member they will be left unfed and uncleansed. It was an awful experience. On a positive note... the Independent living appeared to be an active and engaged environment. I believe we would have had a much more positive experience if our family member was part of the independent community at VOG.

My mom spent rehab in Village on the Green, and I liked that facility. It was very modern. They had nice high ceilings and it was very open. It didn't feel claustrophobic. I liked the artwork on the walls. They had bingo, arts, and crafts. Some of the therapists there were good, too. The staff there was great. I was able to spend the night there with her, and I know that the staff came in every 2 hours to check her vitals. She was trying to get up out of bed, and they were able to prevent her from falling out of bed because they checked on her so much. Her room was very nice and very clean, with walk-in showers. It was new and very modern.

Village on the Green was outstanding. The staff was very, very friendly. I actually have picked it as a place that I'd like to retire to myself. The rooms were just beautiful. The pool looked very, very tempting and very inviting. The facility was an A-plus. Everything looked up to date. The architecture looked cutting edge and the grounds were very clean.

I was down at Village on the Green last month to tour it. I like the location. It's near where I have family already down there. They have continuing care there, so you don't have to change locations. It's not just independent living, it's the whole spectrum that's available there. When you go onto assisted living or the nursing home side, the price goes up, but it goes up by a known amount and it doesn't go up astronomically. The staff I spoke with were very knowledgeable and very friendly. I'm still talking to them, and they're telling me additional information, etc. I haven't tried their food, but it sounds good. The menus change every day. They seem to have pretty much everything you want. They got a large pool and a lot of green space. It's built on an old golf course. They didn't keep the whole golf course, but they kept like five holes and that means there's lots of green space around it. There's a lot of room. It's a very attractive location.

The menu selections and food are Fantastic. The OT and PT staff are wonderful. Room in health center is brand new. However, having a difficult time with the aides who dispense Meds. Pay attention to your own medicine !! And do not accept rude and disrespectful behavior from staff.

If you have a family member at this facility, you need to plan to be there daily to make sure they are taken care of properly. The care staff does not respond in a timely fashion to the patient. Medications are not given at the correct time, if at all. Basic human needs of eating and going to the restroom are not handled timely. The patient is abruptly woken up in the middle of the night and not given any explanation for a procedure, medication or the reason they are in the room. We were told this place was the Ritz Carlton of nursing homes. Not so.
