Heron House was very nice. I liked it a lot, but it doesn't have the views as the other place has. They were as informative as they could be because they're going through an ownership change. The apartment I looked at was nice. It was good and it would have met my needs. They had a piano and that was nice because I play the piano. The dining area was like a normal dining area and it's big in space.

Heron House of Largo was a nice clean place. I liked it, but my mother didn't. She had a private 1-bedroom with a kitchen. They had bingo, music, and people that come in and play live music. She didn't like the food at all. She didn't like the food where she's at though. Medicaid paid for it.

Our loved one has been at Heron House for three years now. When we first placed our loved one there, things were very good. Now the quality of everything has gotten so bad. Our loved one got sick, when they told staff nothing was done. I had to call to request a doctor come, and see them. Result to that was stay in hospital. Staff extorting monies from residents. Missing clothing that even has there name in it. Carpets smell and not cleaned. Go upstairs and right out side of elevator the carpet is riped and very dirty. Hand santizer is not filled. Go into the business office and you will see a staff member's baby being taken care of while that person is working. Observed staff members on cell phone while taking care of residents. What's there protocal for this while working. Paper work not done in a timely manor. Kitchen staff complain if residents want a second cup of coffee. Told my loved one they eat to much. I can go on and and on. Dear God we intrust our loved ones to this place for quality care and this is what you get. Something needs to change quickly or the state will be called in. Tired of paying good monies and not receiving quality care.

When it became obvious that my Mom could no longer live independently I looked at a lot of ALFs. My Mom’s income is extremely low so cost was a big issue for us. The only thing she could afford at other places was a shared room that was tiny. The social worker we had knew the folks at Heron House. They worked with us to get Mom a private room at a price we could afford. Sherry, Marybeth and Courtney have all been really great to me and my Mom. The staff is consistent without a lot of turnover. Mom has her favorite nurse-Tequila who really makes her laugh and her favorite tech-Brittany who is very sweet. The all day dining room is a huge plus as the residents don’t feel they have to hurry or they’ll miss a meal. The homemade soups are amazing by the way. Heron House may not be the newest facility but the care they give their residents is genuine. I have found them to be responsive, caring and kind.

Heron House of Largo is terrible and the food is terrible. You don't get the bang for your buck. It's not clean. The management is disrespectful. The activities are terrible. It's gone steadily downhill. It's assisted living and memory care. It's in bad need of repair. We've had bedbugs and it's unattractive. They have an area with books, but it's not maintained. It's mostly people who can't afford more. They're taking in people who are on Medicaid or on very limited budgets. Anybody who can do private pay, if they come at all, they leave. The management has changed every two or three months. The staff was horrible. They come in here, they're not trained, and they leave over and over again.

I am a relative of a resident at Heron House. When my relative first moved in, she was extremely happy and talked nonstop of activities. We often visited and found them singing, dancing, or socializing. However, in the past year, they have been bought out and undergone new management. Since this time my relative has progressively become more and more unhappy. Twice in the past three months, we have had to be an advocate for this relative upon finding bed bug bites on their body and in the room. This is not acceptable whatsoever.
