Baya Pointe is NOT a facility you want to place your loved one in. Filthy, rarely have the supplies to care for the patients. Administrator only cares about the money she can make. She does not care about the residents nor the staff. Staff is minimal to say the least. They look exhausted. Numerous complaints filed and absolutely nothing has been addressed. Residents are constantly being sent to the hospital because they are not receiving the care they need. This place needs to close its doors. I would give this place zero stars!!! Negative stars if it was possible!

Rehab is exceptional. Staff is very helpful. The Rehab Manager went out of her way to make sure my family stayed up to date on our family member’s care and progress. Therapy team is amazing.

They don't tell you this, but for the short-term rehab at Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, there are three separate entities within the building: the admin, the physical therapy department, and the nursing/CNA staff. Personally, I think they don't communicate very well at all amongst themselves. We had a number of issues come up. One of them was food. I needed to speak with the dietician. They told me they had a dietician, but she wasn't there that day. I tried to call her the next day, but my call went to voicemail. The third day I called, the girl told me, "We don't really have a dietician, but one comes in maybe once a week. You can talk to the manager of the kitchen, though." The physical therapy people were mostly very nice. The nurses were very good, but there weren't enough of them, so they were very stressed. There were numerous CNAs, and that seemed to be sufficient, but you always have questions for the nurses, not the CNAs. The food itself was good, but the diet they were feeding my dad wasn't. They would puree all his food, and he wouldn't eat it. The performance of the staff was excellent, but they were overworked. You had to wait over an hour and a half to talk to a nurse. There were only two nurses for 20+ people, I think. I was told that they could do palliative care. They put my dad into that system with morphine. After four days, I came in and was told that he couldn't do palliative care because they didn't have nurses 24/7. I said, "How can you not have a nurse here 24/7? This is a skilled nursing facility." The exterior was very attractive, but the interior of the short-term rehab was very drab. The hallways and bedrooms were carpeted; in my mind, they should rip that out and replace it with tiles or vinyl or something. The first room my dad was in didn't smell very bad, but the last room he was in smelled terribly of urine. I was not impressed at all. It was not uplifting in any way. The paint job was dark and depressing. I can't complain about the CNAs, the physical therapists, or the nurse. The admin group totally just didn't care, and the odor in the building was a huge issue. My dad was just so depressed there. He said, "You have to get me out of this place."

The staff at the Baya Pointe Nursing-Rehab Center seemed very nice and professional. My great grandmother was there for a few months or possible a year and, as far as I saw, was taken good care of. She was quite a wild woman and tried to cut herself out of the strap they had to place around her in the wheel care to stop her from falling out, yet even though she caused a lot of trouble and more than likely quite a few headaches, they still treated her with the respect and professionalism that she was deserved. I did not have much of an opportunity to observe many others there, but all that I saw seemed to be happy (as much as one could be in that situation) and well taken care of. The food in the cafeteria prepared for the residents of it looked well prepared and good. The facility was also kept quite clean and there were always nurses around and helping as need be.
