Assisted Living Reviews for Bishop's Glen

I visited this facility

Bishop's Glen was too expensive and a little too spread out for my folks. There was too much walking involved, and the buildings were older. It was very nice, though.

One of the reasons we chose Bishop's Glen for my aunt is that it's right there in her neighborhood, and she is very involved in her church, so she wanted to be in a place that her friends could come visit. Her room is like a hospital room; it's clean. She is in a semi-private room and has a roommate. They take good care of her there. She says the food is good and has done different activities like chair yoga. They also have entertainment that comes in. So far, we haven’t had any problems with them.

We have already moved in to Bishop's Glen, and I'm happy with the place. We've got a two-bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, two bathrooms, and a screened porch. The price was right compared to the others. They keep you busy all day long if you want. They have swimming, balancing, entertainment, and different kinds of things everyday. What I liked best were the atmosphere, the way the grounds looked, and the way it was kept up. So far, I'm totally satisfied with it.

I visited a friend at Bishop's Glen. The facility was OK. The people seemed very nice. They were very friendly. We only went to their meeting/dining room, and it was nice. Also, they had a nice swimming pool.

I visited this facility

The independent living apartments are the best of what they offer, with plenty of activities for the residents, but all of the residential buildings have an unpleasant odor. I would have given a higher rating had my mother not ended up in assisted living, which was bad -- improper and unhealthy housekeeping, items disappeared, a real loss of dignity. Pretty heartbreaking.

I was very impressed with Bishop's Glen. I like the apartments and just everything they had to offer. I was pleased with the way they operated everything -- the activities, the amenities, and housekeeping. They have Bridge, which I play. They have a pool for swimming and water aerobics, and they have a bus that takes them to the shopping areas. The dining area was very nice. They offer three meals a day, and you can do it or not; you pay for it regardless. The rooms were really grand, not overly done, but it was very efficient, clean, and lovely. It's more of a country like setting.

My father and mother picked this facility out so that they could live together. The good is horrible and housekeeping does not come as scheduled weekly. Their apartment went weeks without being cleaned. The staff In The assisted living is great and always willing to help out as much as possible. I think this facility got worst with a new adminstator coming in and making changed with the staff. The always seem to be short of help because no one is happy there anymore..

Bishop's Glen has a great staff. We are very pleased with them. It is a very clean place as well. Compared to other places, their apartments are huge. My grandmother has a roommate, and they have two bedrooms and two full baths. They each have their own bathroom, which is very important to older people. They have a large living room plus a full kitchen which they don't even need to use because they have three meals. It has an eating area in the kitchen, so the apartment itself is big. As for activities, they have an activity room where they have entertainment. They have a wine and cheese event coming up tomorrow. They just have something going on everyday. They have bingo and exercise for the brain classes. They have a lot of activities.

Bishop’s Glen was a nice place. I liked it for the simple reason they had a bank there, a beauty parlor, and Catholic services. I didn’t see any of the apartments; they didn’t have any available at the time I was in there. I didn’t go in there for myself; I went in there with another person was looking. At that time I wasn’t interested in it, but I now I am.

Bishop’s Glen is a nice place; it’s excellent. I’ve seen the whole place, and I’m sure it’s going to get a high rating. They have lots of activities. There’s parking if you have your own car, and they provide transportation as well. There’s a heated pool, and they have exercise machines and stuff for anybody who wants to use them. It’s not a buy in; it’s a rental place. The one who assisted me during the tour was fine. They serve one very nice meal a day. I had a meal there, and it was excellent. The dining area was very nice. Its close by here, and that is really why I went to see what this type of living might be like.

I think Bishop’s Glen could be upgraded; it’s an older facility. The rooms were too small, but the staff was very nice and very good. If I have to go into it, they would be acceptable, and the location is good.

Bishop’s Glen is clean, but it’s not spacious by any means. It seems like people are pretty packed in. The food is good. It is a good unit, and it was definitely one I would consider if I were on crutches so I could move around. I didn’t see them do anything; I just heard them talk about their activities. They like to put him on buses and take them to places to see things. Everything was one-story and no real views outside except for one more building. From the point of view, I think I would get up and look across the community; you wouldn’t get any inspiration at all. Otherwise it is managed by a good group, and I think they have done well with what they have. The people there were remarkable. It’s a good place, especially if you want to stay here in Florida. I’m not downsizing it in anyway, but if you are in a wheelchair you would rate it as 6; they are doing a real good job for the people around here.

The more care required by a resident, the worse the services get. Cleanliness is an issue and the buildings smell. The apartments/rooms in assisted living are very stuffy. Items have come up missing. Poor communication with family members. Not worth the cost.

I go to Bishop's Glen very often, not just one visit as other reviewers. Bishops Glen is an older but beautiful retirement community. They've renovated and it shows. And I see they are continuing to renovate. They've added a wonderful computer area for the residents that allows us to keep in touch. They have Skype. Daily activities keep the residents active and in my opinion young. I've met many residents and family members while I was eating in the main diningroom. The meals I've eaten have all been very good with some truly excellent meals. Food is so subjective, and sometimes it's all about your personal taste. Staff - including management- has always been caring and kind. The apartments are absolutely wonderful. I've seen several. I really love that they allow the residents to truly make it home. My loved one has been there for over 7 years and the improvements have been simply amazing. I won't say it's perfect, because nothing in this world is. However, I will say that it's as close to perfect for my relative as anything can be. I am so grateful for the caring staff and management of Bishop's Glen.

I chose to visit Bishop's Glen because I have a friend living there. The rooms were beautiful. The inside was very nice. However, I thought the food was terrible. I didn't like it. Also they were very small portions. The dining room was nice though. It was clean. In regards to activities, I think they have a tremendous amount of stuff for them to do. Overall, I thought the place was very attractive-looking. The apartments were very, very nice. I would recommend this place. What they could improve on is the staff and their food. They kept changing staff and people would leave. They don't have enough staff that you can rely on. Also I think they need to improve their food.

My parents are already in Bishop's Glen. We chose it because it had a rehab center as well as the assisted living and memory care. I like that my parents are safe. They're not happy at all, but the circumstances were that they couldn't be by themselves. My mother had fallen, and she had to go into rehab. She's in the same apartment as my step-father, who has Alzheimer's, and that's the main thing. They take care of her in the apartment so they can be together. The staff seemed to be pretty good, and the apartments are quite nice. The food was good, too. They were allowed to keep their small dog. They have quite a few things going on. They have music. They try to keep the people who can't get out of there entertained or give them something to look forward to.

I spent about 9 or 10 days at Bishop's Glen. The facility is not clean. They didn’t seem to pay attention when you said something to them. The food is not that good and for me those were the most important things. In the bathroom, I felt there was mildew around the door. There were little indentations and they were black and I felt it was mildew. They told me to take a shower, but I couldn’t get into the shower because they were storing stuff in there. They had a wheelchair and a bunch of plastics. I told the staff about it and they just told me that they will give me sponge bath. Finally the last day I was there, they took the wheelchair out of the shower and all the plastics that were there and let me take a shower. I noticed that the lady next to me, every time they give her food, she just falls asleep right in front of her food and they just leave her like that for hours. The section I was in seemed to be not near as clean as the other section and I felt that food was not good and I lost weight which was good, but I was hungry all the time. I wasn’t really happy with the doctor and the therapy .The apartments for the independent living and the area surrounding it inside and out were beautiful. They were just really nice. I went in to see for myself.

Bishop's Glen is an old facility and expensive. The grounds were nice. It is on a 25-acre land and that part is nice if you're a walker. There's also more outdoor activities than the other facility we visited. They also have a pool. However, I didn't like their apartments. They have industrial type carpeting in the units. They were also very dreary and very small. They could update their apartments and make them a little more cheerful.

Bishop's Glen was very nice. It looked like a high-end facility and was more like a hotel. However, it was not as homey, but more pricey.

I went up Bishop's Glen ad saw one of their little apartments. It was really very nice. The facility itself has a very good reputation. I also know somebody that likes it there because he has lived there for awhile now, and he is much younger than I am. They have quite a bit of activities. I am a member of the Center for the Visually Impaired and we have meetings up in this facility. The people that live there would also come and join some of our meetings.

It was a clean place compared to the others in the area we looked at. But the only problem there was that the staff was extremely rude. The office people would give you attitude when ever you had a question. Also when our friend called to talk to her nurse they yelled at her and said no personal calls, but the kitchen staff and most of the nurses that were in the building were very kind. The C.N.As acted like they ran the place.

My Grandparents moved into Bishops Glenn about 7 years ago. Bishops Glenn is an assisted living facility that offers independant living, assisted living, and a nursing home facility. The apartment style buildings are comfortable and quaint. There is centrally located dining hall that offers three meals daily and even send you a monthly menu, which is very popular with the older generation. Bishops Glenn also has a chapel with a weekly Sunday service, a full size pool, a shuffle board court located outside in the sunny courtyard, and a party/card room, which become packed on the weekly bridge night. Assistance and help is always offered to anyone who requests it. There is even a van that will take the residents to local attractions such as the mall or the movie theatre. Last but not least, Bishops Glenn makes the residents feel at home.
