I am/was a resident of this facility

My wife and I had moved into The Palms of Fort Myers. The physical appearance is very, very attractive. The upkeep is also quite good. We like it. It's appropriate accommodation for us. We were able to get a two-bedroom, and the price was right for that. Also, the room and the layout are nicer than other places that we saw. I think the staff is quite good, except for the kitchen staff. They're very inexperienced, very unknowledgeable about what they're doing, and poorly managed. The housekeeping staff is very good, very attentive and thorough. We have plenty of activities. They have musical events, and in-house concerts. They have excursions to shopping centers and various other activities in the community. They have plenty of games and things for people to get to play at night like bingo and card games and those kinds of things. The food, I would say, is terrible and very disappointing. I would suggest they improve the food, first of all, and then the entire kitchen service; the service, the management of the kitchen, and the type of food served. Especially that that's a major part of living, three meals a day, and that's not being met.

Provider Response

Donn, I am the Executive Director and want to thank you for your kind words for the community, for your apartment, and for our team. We know that dining is an important part of life at The Palms of Fort Myers so encourage you to attend our monthly food committee meeting where we gather feedback on our dining services -- or swing by my office to chat as I want each and every resident to have a five star experience in ALL aspects of life here.. Thanks again for your feedback. Regards, Bill

I've chosen The Palms of Fort Myers, and I'm moving in November. I like that they have so many activities that you can do, I need to make friends out here cause I don't know anybody besides my cousin. I'm anxious to get in there and do outdoor activities and make some friends. And every one of them was very, very nice. I think they offer a lot for senior people. I got a one-bedroom. They have some with a balcony, but the balconies were like $200 a month more, and I said, I don't need a balcony. It's a small kitchen and a bedroom, and they have a nice walk-in shower with security cords and bars all over. I like the fact that they want you to call every morning so they know that everything's okay with you in your apartment. That's very neat. The rent is very expensive, but it covers everything, electricity, WI-FI, cable, two meals a day, and access to the doctor that's there. So I think I'm going to be happy here.

Provider Response

We're looking forward to having you join us Sandra! Thank you for sharing your feedback on all the aspects of The Palms of Fort Myers that impressed you -- and we're sure that with the warm and welcoming nature of our residents you'll feel right at home in no time at all. See you soon!

My mom has been at The Palms of Fort Myers for a few months now. I'm impressed with it. It is a nice big place. She has plenty of room to wander, and so it ended up working out well. I like that it's an active community. They have continuous activities going on. The staff seems like they care about the residents, spending a lot of time with them. They are very good and very attentive to the residents, and very hands-on. They pay attention to their residents a lot. The nurses too are very kind to us and are very good to my mother, really monitoring how she is doing. If they noticed something was different, they got on it and got to the doctor and they changed her medication. Her room is big, especially compared to some that I had looked at. What I still don't like about it is that once I left there, it was very hard to get in touch with my mother. It always seems to be a big deal. The woman that runs that floor gives out her cell phone number, but it's very hard to get her because she is always doing activities and doing things, so she can't always answer her phone. And that was one of my big complaints in the beginning. The staff is wonderful, but they're understaffed. I saw that they had sing-alongs and exercise classes. There was one time when they had a band in and memory care was able to go out and be with assisted living and independent living to watch that along with them. In some of the activities, they actually can go out and see more people. It was big enough so that there were several people there that they could make friends with. I didn't eat there because we're not supposed to go in there and eat with them. But from what I saw, the food looked really good. I know my mother is very happy with it. I saw the soup and it looked good.

Provider Response

Cathleen, thank you for your lovely review as it is wonderful to know that The Palms has impressed you so much. We were touched by your kind words for our team and the attention and care they provide your mom, and it was great to read that your mom is very happy here. I am the Executive Director and would welcome the chance to chat with you about your challenges in reaching your mom at times, as I'd like to make sure we simplify that process for you. Please contact me at the community at your convenience, and thanks again for sharing your feedback. Regards, Bill.

The Palms of Fort Myers was very nice. The tour guide was very good. It was almost a tie for first place. The guide was nice, very pleasant, and helpful there. We did have lunch. That was very good, and the activity they offered was nice. I didn't go there because the other place had larger apartments. The dining area was cafeteria style, very nice, and pleasant. They have a salon and transportation to wherever you want to go within a certain mileage. The residents were so pleasant.

Provider Response

Joanne, thanks for visiting and sharing your impressions of The Palms of Fort Myers. We're glad you were impressed by the tour and enjoyed your lunch as well as the programs you saw during your visit -- and appreciate the shout out for the wonderful residents you met when you were here. We do offer a wide range of independent living options including studio, one and two-bedroom apartments and would be delighted to show you one of our bigger apartments if interested. Best wishes, and please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I went to The Palms of Fort Myers. I was very impressed. My girlfriend was there and they had great food. The only thing I didn't like about it was they only had two elevators, and when you've got a big building like that, sometimes you wait for the elevator forever. But it was a beautiful place, just the location was across the Edison mall almost, and to me, that was a bad location for me to visit, you know, to go down there and visit my husband. So, I didn't choose that for him. The Palms of Fort Myers is old, but it's beautiful. It's like a library when you walk in, it's all wood, two stories, and has a beautiful piano and a fireplace. They had a nice screened lanai. And for me, I have two kitties, so that would have been nice. They were bowling in the lobby when I was there. It looked like fun. They played mahjong and I'm a mahjong player so that would appeal to me. I was impressed with the food, and the apartments were nice sized, big closets, and she had the biggest apartment there. She had a very small living room and kitchen, but she had a nice apartment and a nice little screened porch so she could sit outside.

We went to The Palms of Fort Myers. I like that it had all the features that we were looking for like first-floor apartments and activities that were included. Just about everything that was on our list that we needed was there. The staff who showed us around was very helpful. She was very welcoming, and she just made everything very comfortable for us. They have an enclosed courtyard by the pool and a fitness center. It was nice. That was my first choice. The room had a full kitchen. They were renovating everything, so everything was brand new and very nice.

My husband is at The Palms of Fort Myers. I like it. There's a lot for them to do. They keep you involved. The food is great. He says the food is wonderful. He gets three meals. It's very clean and well kept. The employees are very friendly. They have a swimming pool, a pool house, they play cards, and they have a bus that you sign up and you go to grocery stores, Target, doctors, and banks. They have bowling, they play cards, and they have ice cream socials. They just have a lot of activities for them constantly. I haven't had any problem with them.

The tour at The Palms of Fort Myers was wonderful, the lady was wonderful, and the place was immaculate. The staff even called me several times to see how my brother was doing. She asked me what I was looking for and she showed me three different rooms. She showed me the cafeteria, what they have, and what they do. She showed me a studio, a 1-bedroom, and the third one was a 1-bedroom, too. They had a game room, I think they had a pool area, a computer room, a cafeteria, the main room, and a theater room. It is an older building, but it is clean, very cozy, warm, and very welcoming.

I chose The Palms of Fort Myers for my parents. It's excellent. They're very caring people. There's excellent communication and the facilities are very good. I love their exercise room, hot tub, and porch. From their apartment, they have access to a private porch. It overall seems to be a wonderful facility with very caring people that work there.

My parents will be moving into The Palms of Fort Myers next month. The place was excellent, and it met all of our needs. The room was huge, it was large in size, and it was well maintained. The staff who accompanied us on tour was wonderful, she was very knowledgeable, she was flexible, and she was a great person.

I visited this facility

I toured The Palms of Fort Myers. I liked it, it was nice, but I didn't think that we could afford it for my mother because she was on a lot of medications, and the upcharge depending on how many medications they had to dispense just would take her out of her ability to pay. They actually let us eat lunch there too, so she could see the quality of the food, and the way the dining hall was set up, and how it operated. It was nice and she liked the fact that it had a pool. The staff were all very nice. When we ate lunch it was like we were eating in a restaurant. The food was excellent, she got something to drink, a soup, an entree, and she had a little salad. It was good. The main floor was really nice, they had a fireplace, it looked cozy, and welcoming.

My mother moved into The Palms of Fort Myers. They just had everything that we were looking for, and a community for my mother. The other main reason was we could roll over Medicaid. There's three different levels: independent living, assisted living, and memory care, and she's currently in independent living, but she will be moving into assisted living. That's another main reason we picked the Palms, was it would be a one-stop-shop. As she goes more into her dementia she wouldn't have to actually leave the facility and go into another facility. The dining room is like an actual restaurant, huge, a banquet dining room, it's very open, airy, bright, it doesn't look like a facility, it looks like an actual dining room. They're served on plates which are nice at tables that are social distancing at the moment. My mother's is in a one-bedroom apartment, it's very, very ample, and very nice.

My mother was a resident in the Bridge to Rediscovery (Memory Care) unit for about 4 years. She started out in the Independent apartments and did quite well for a couple of years and then declined needing more supervision and care. She was fortunate to have a lovely private room. One of the things I appreciated was how the staff all knew my mom and they worked as a team to care for her. I also appreciated the Activities staff and how they worked to engage all the residents and provide activities they would enjoy and keep their minds sharp. The nursing staff were also very good about communicating with me any concerns or issues.

My parents moved into the Palms in July, 2019. Before moving them, I visited over a dozen retirement communities. Not one felt as warm and loving as the Palms, it truly is an extraordinary community. Literally every single person who works there is loving, kind, friendly and incredibly helpful. The culture it that the residents are your grandparents, and they are to be treated with the same love and respect as you would your own family. My parents LOVE it there! It is no surprise that they have won the BEST OF FT MYERS RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES for over 10 years running. BTW, the food is very good, they both love it. My parents really enjoy dining in the large bright downstairs dining room.

This facility and it's staff provide the friendliest and most comfortable living facility I've found in Ft. Myers. Everyone goes out of their way make sure all of the residents are happy and healthy. Moved my Mother in two weeks ago and within days everyone knows her by her first name, residents and staff alike. And to my delight, Mom has come to find that the Palms has everything she needs. These people are remarkable. Thank you.

We pretty much decided on the Palms of Fort Myers. We’ve been there twice. We liked the layout of the living facilities, the dining facilities, the staff, and the amenities there. They were very helpful, very friendly, and courteous. They have an exercise room, a card room, a pool, a room for meetings, and a chapel. The food was very well prepared, ample, and had nice choices.

Everything at The Palms of Fort Myers was nice. They had cards, bowling, games, movies, and outside activities. They showed me a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom that were adequate in size. The staff was very friendly and very nice. The place was very clean and didn’t have any odors at all. They had transportation for the residents to go shopping, to eat at restaurants, or to watch Broadway plays.

I moved into the Palms in June. It feels nice and open, it's got a great pool, the apartments have great sun coming in and feels nice. The food is good, you have a lot of choices, and they give you a little menu, so it's nice. They have chair exercises in the morning, there's a library, a church, and they take you to doctors' appointments, and scheduled trips.

The Palms of Fort Myers was a wonderful place, and they were very informative as to what they could offer. I saw a room that was being remodeled. They were redoing the place and installing hurricane-proof windows. They were also redoing the balcony and the glass of the building. The volunteer coordinator, the administrator, and the marketing person were very open.

The staff at The Palms was very professional. It was lovely when you walked in the door. They had a whole schedule of activities. They had a pool. They had a piano player playing in the lobby when I went there. I did not care for the food. I also did not care for the server because I ordered a fish luncheon, and I got a plate without fish. They had ice cream social and an art class. They had a lot of teaching type classes if you wanted to go to. Their location was close to town. You could go to their independent living, assisted living, or the memory care, but I toured their independent living.

I visited the Palms of Fort Myers. It was very beautiful. They have a 1-bedroom and a 2-bedroom, according to how many would want to come like if I want to go with my husband or he can go by himself. I saw everything, and everything was very nice. The people who work there were very helpful. I spoke to some of the residents, and everybody seemed very happy. The food was very good because they invited us to eat with them. They go to the supermarket, they go on trips, they play, they socialize, or they go out to the parks. They had a small bus, and they take them to different places and even to their doctors.

My mother in law moved in at the end of December. This was the best thing that has happened to her since her husband passed 2 years ago. We went the first time and were both very impressed with the whole atmosphere...this was her first look at an independent living facility. At this time she didn't want to move out of her house yet, we went to every other facility like this in Fort Myers and compared everything to the Palms. Mainly because of the atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff and residents. We went back 2 more times over the course of a year and a half until she was ready to move. She has made so many friends and the staff is helpful and friendly. So far...everything has worked out perfectly. The only 2 things that make up for the lack of 5 stars is one, the bus that transports them to the Dr, she says is extremely uncomfortable BUT they have told her they are getting a new bus..the one that takes them to outings is nice though. And the other complaint is that the food is so so...some days good..some days not so good. But all in all...she's very happy with her move.. and so are we. Diana and Laura are very helpful and accommodating. Whenever I need something, I can call them to find out information if my mother in law is confused. Very helpful staff!! Great place!! She is hardly ever home anymore which is a complete 360 from living in her old home...she never went anywhere...never came out of her house...a whole new mother in law..for the better!!

The second choice would have been The Palms (The Palms of Fort Myers). They have the dementia section over there. The location was alright. The entrance was very striking. I like the entrance, but it didn’t have the view like in the other community. We toured The Palms four times, and one thing we didn’t like is every time we went in there, we had a different sales person. They have a lot of the same amenities, but they don’t have everything from the other community.

My mother is on a waiting list at The Palms of Fort Myers. It was nicer, more affordable, and the food was better. They gave us lunch, and we picked some specials of the day; it was excellent. I believe the food is so good because they have it catered to the level of the independent people. I saw a few different rooms in the memory care unit that were pleasant and easily accessible to the common area. If you open your door and you look to the right, everything is there. Once you’re in the open area, you can see the TV and dining tables. They had activities going when we were there, like someone in the meeting room playing the piano with all kinds of different residents in the community listening. It’s a lovely place. It didn’t smell, and the rest of the community was beautiful, very clean, and very nice. They have a pool, too. I thought the price was top notch, and they weren’t pushy. They didn’t get you into the room and try to force you to put down that deposit for the waiting list, which some places do. There's a real board of directors, but there’s also a resident board that gives feedback and has some say in the community, which I think is really cool. They want to keep communication open rather than just run things. There was a person from the dementia unit on the board, so they were getting perspectives from different people. I was impressed that they really reached out to the people in the community in the different areas to make sure that they were relevant to them. I thought it was really good.

My father chooses The Palm of Fort Myers because it has less of a memory care population. So, he feels he can socialize and be stimulated. He does not need memory care at all. He wants to be with people he can converse with. They have an itinerary everyday with all kind of classes and activities. They offer transportation. Outdoors, they have a sitting area that is enclosed, and dad wants an enclosed courtyard that is pleasant to sit in. He has not move in yet, but he really wants to move in. He likes it a lot. The staff is caring and professional. The place itself is well appointed and comfortable. The overall atmosphere is very accommodating, very pleasant, and comfortable.

We were very impressed with The Palms. The treatment was excellent during the visit. The staff was so friendly. They seem to have a lot of activities. The only thing lacking that I would be interested in is more arts and crafts. Otherwise, they have transportation that takes you to places; they have cards, bingo and shows of music or something. They showed us a 2-bedroom, 2-bath -- not new but I think I can decorate it myself and make it look better. It’s not as nice as some but it’s better than some, but the size is good. The dining room and the lobby looked really nice and clean. It’s a lot better than some places I’ve been.

It has an atrium with a fireplace in it. It's just a very homey kind of place. The food was very, very good with good portion size and tastes good. We have attended a few social events there, and they have a good selection of activities, so I know my mom is looking forward to that. The staff has been wonderful. Everybody has been very friendly. They call you by name, and they remember you. They are always very pleasant and very happy. I am/was a resident of this facility

My husband has been a resident of The Palms for six years; I have been here for almost four years. He was in Assisted Living for a while; I have always been in Independent Living. We did not know each other before I moved here. I am on the Welcoming Committee here. I tell newcomers that "if you are bored or lonesome, it's probably your own fault." There are enough activities here to keep anyonyone busy. We have Bingo, Scrabble, Bridge, water aerobics, and many, many more activities. This facility is kept spotless. I have actually seen the head of housekeeping give places the "white glove test." Quite often we have special, semi-formal dinners for residents and their guests. When I first came here I was unhappy because I missed my old home. It didn't take me long to realize that at The Palms I always have someone to socialize with, which is important to me. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a facility offering Assisted Living, Memory Care or Independent Living services to check out The Palms. It's a wonderful place to call home. Your worries over you loved one will disappear immediately. i

I like The Palms at Fort Myers really well. They have been there for a very long time and they do have a very good reputation from what I have seen. It is also rated very highly in Fort Myers area. The facility was really nice. Their clients seemed really happy there. The staff seemed really nice as well. They have tons of activities for their residents. They have the assisted combined with the independent. The assisted could share the activities there. I saw some of their activity people and they seemed great. It seemed really good. Overall, this place seemed really good. I like the activities that were going on, I like that their clients seemed very happy, and I like their very nice building. I live in Idaho, and it is a comfort to me that Mom is being cared for by such a cheerful, friendly, and competent staff. The advise I get is excellent, and I am kept well-informed about Mom's condition. I rest easy about her even though I am on the other side of the country.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Mom has been a resident in the Memory Care unit at the Palms for 6 months. She is doing better than I ever imagined. I visit her many times a week and am pleased with the care she is getting. The facility is always clean and the staff show a lot of compassion for the residents and families. Patients with memory issues need a structured routine and schedule and The Palms does a good job with this.

My husband has been a resident of the Memory Care Center for over a year now and I visit him often. The facility is always clean, bright and beautifully maintained. I feel my husband is getting good care and I, also, am treated with every respect. The staff is great and I am kept very well informed on my husband's care. It wasn't an easy decision to place my husband in a memory care facility, but I am glad I chose The Palms.

I am looking for a community for my mother Sue. She is very energetic and outgoing . When I toured the Palms I walked in and saw resident engaging in activities. As the tour went on the staff were smiling and saying hello. The salesperson the tour us at the Palms was very friendly and outgoing. She made me feel as if all her attention was on us and was understanding of my mothers needs and wants. I hope that anyone that tour The Palms feels the same way as we did when we tour warm caring and loving of their residence.

I toured this facility when looking for a place for my parents who are in their late 80's and need a little extra help. I think I found exactly what they need. A home like atmosphere where the staff makes you feel welcome and goes out of their way to answer questions and put you at ease. While I was there, I observed residents in a word game activity and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I think I have found "home" for my parents!

I visited The Palms and I liked the facility. It was beautiful. The orientation lady was very nice but I didn't see any other staff. The rooms were okay. It had its own bathroom. However, it bothered me because there was an odor in the bedroom. Also, their Alzheimer's unit had a gloomy appearance.

I went to visit The Palms at Fort Myers and it's very clean. It was a bright, cheery and up-to-date place. I saw a couple of different room possibilities and they were very nice. The person there was very helpful and they had a lot of activities. It's like a restaurant style where they serve the meals. I think it's just going to be perfect for my sister-in-law.

The apartments at The Palms were very nice. But they didn't have anything available at the time, so we're on a waiting list. The staff was very nice and willing to help and tell us what they had to offer.

The Palms of Fort Myers was okay. The staff showed us around and we had a little tour of the facility. The facility itself was a little small. They did have a pool there but it didn't have a lift to get in or out of the pool and that was a big issue for us. Another thing we had with them was that, if my parents were move into a place like this and if one of them had a fall or whatever, then they would have to be separated. That's actually a major setback for us.

I chose The Palms of Fort Myers first of all because of the price and secondly because of the services available there. The environment has been very clean and well-kept. My mom is in a one-bedroom and it is quite spacious. She has a screened-in lanai and has her own mini kitchen. It is very nice and very clean. They have a wide range of activities, lots of games and organized exercise, outings, transportations and parties. Also their food has been very good. My mom has just moved in this May. She has just moved out of the state. She also has early stages of dementia, so she is not really doing so well with transferring to a new part of the state, but I have to say that the staff has been absolutely wonderful. They are very accommodating and helpful. I can't say enough nice things about them.

Palms of Fort Myers was an extremely clean community. It's very large. It has independent, assisted and memory care facilities. In the assisted living, they had 80 residents. The rooms that I saw are all single rooms, but they were very nice. They have a living room, a separate bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom, like an apartment. They also had a porch or lanai. It was a wonderful and beautiful community.

Everything is here that I need; everything. The rooms are perfect for me, the staff is great, and the food is good too. They have lots of activities like movies and cards, and have transportation to other places. I like just how independent I can be.

I loved The Palms of Fort Myers. It was very spacious and located close to the beach. I think if I lived there I would drive down to the beach everyday and be happy with it. The place looked like it suited my needs. The staff were helpful and pleasant. And the rooms were not bad at all. I would recommend this facility to other seniors who are still very active.

The Palms of Fort Myers assisted living community was one of our stops while searching fora place for my friend's mother to live. The outside area resembled that of a high-end, well maintained condo building. The interior design was lovely with nice views throughout. There was bright light everywhere. Because the weather is so mild there, the residents may enjoy walks along the beach and spend time outdoors on a year round basis. The dining areas offered the kind of food that you would find in a five star restaurant. All of the food we saw looked and smelled delicious. The menus included food options for all kinds of diets. The staff often takes residents on many outings into the area's vibrant community to enjoy all that it has to offer. From sight seeing to nature walks and cultural events, the staff appeared to accommodate all levels of ambulation. Private units featured beautifully decorated surroundings. All had a great deal of natural light and fresh air, through large windows. Seniors are encouraged to enjoy physical activity as much as possible. The residents enjoy yoga and aerobics classes, sometimes held outdoors. The seniors appeared content here, with just the amount of care and attention they need.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My husband's aunt was a resident of The Palms of Fort Myers for several years. We visited her there often. Every time we visited her, this assisted living facility was clean and beautifully maintained. I recall in particular one holiday season when the main sitting area located not far from the front desk was spectacularly decorated for Christmas. The gorgeous fireplace was particularly striking. In addition, we always found the staff to be friendly and eager to be of assistance to us and to the residents. My husband's aunt enjoyed her time at The Palms very much and spoke highly of it. In fact, she enjoyed it there so much that she recommended it to several of her friends who ended up moving to The Palms as well. If you are looking for an assisted living facility either for yourself or for someone in your family, you should definitely take the time to check out The Palms of Fort Myers.
