The first and main thing that I noted at Calusa Harbour was that the people there were living their lives and not just laying around waiting to die. They were still active, normal, and seemingly content people. It's just that I kind of got the idea that without Mom there I was getting a rushed tour. The lady was fine, attitude wise, and she was helpful, but I just expected a tour for more than ten minutes, which was not what it lasted. They had a salon, their own skilled nursing, PT areas, and a large screened-in lanai. They have two seatings for each meal a day for people who prefer to eat early or late. There's also usually something to drink and some snacks in several locations around the facility. When I was there they were updating some of the apartments, going from tile and carpet to luxury vinyl plank, so they're trying to keep the place up. I was really pleased with the place.

My mom was a resident of Calusa Harbour. It was a nice facility, and they have lots of activities. She could not participate in activities, but they still had a lot to offer. The meals were outstanding as well. They had exercises and social events, always something different. They had puzzles and games, and lots of different areas for people to sit and socialize. My mom had a one-room, and it was spacious. Her bed, chairs, and everything fit very nicely, including her bureau nightstand. It was set up very well. I rate them a two because it was so understaffed that it was terrible care. When the person rings their button, they have an extremely poor response time. If they were fully staffed, I think they would be better. But they're not, and they're charging the same amount of money for not enough people to care, like not enough aides and CNAs.

I went to Calusa Harbour. That was nice, they've been there a long time, so it was an older setup. The guide was nice. The activities sounded great. They had cards and exercise, but the rooms were a little bit too small for me. The layout was very nice. It was convenient. It was beautiful, right on the river with boats and stuff, that was very nice.

They are always short staffed. They do not accept ownership for errors or failings. The elevator situation is appalling and the coo and food service is poor. Leadership are dishonest and do not follow through. Building falling apart. The rooms are nice in appearance but many things are old and do not work.

Calusa Harbour was fantastic. It's an older facility, but they offer a lot. They have a library, a cafe, and a dining room. Everything overlooks the water. They had different room sizes, a beauty shop, a general store, fishing activities, a pool, a movie room, and laundry rooms. It was our first choice for my mom and dad because it was a good fit for them. The building has a lot of heart. It's very homey that you overlooked the age of the building. It's very, very beautiful.

My father-in-law was at Calusa Harbour for two-and-a-half years. It was a big building, and there was a lot of residents. Prior to Covid, they had a lot of different activities and stuff going on. It was very reasonably priced. Prior to Covid, the food was pretty decent. Things changed a lot with Covid. You really can't necessarily fault them. The staff was great. You could tell it was a little bit older building, but it was still nice. Everything was clean and well kept. The elevator was an issue because it was such a big building. It was 20 floors, so a lot of times waiting for an elevator could be slow. Otherwise, it was kept in good condition. The only complaint my father-in-law had was that they had the same entertainers over and over again. After a while, he kind of got bored with them. He got frustrated, and he laughed because nothing was going on and nothing was happening. I said because it's Covid. Nothing's happening anywhere. I know it was very tough for them, but it seemed like they were accommodating. They took them places. They did things with them pre-Covid. It was definitely worth the money.
