Assisted Living Reviews for The Opal of Cape Coral

April 14, 2017

I visited this facility

Juniper Village at Cape Coral was very nice. It was an older facility. The gentleman showed me around, and he was very nice. The place was clean, but I particularly would not have been interested in Juniper Village for my family. They had different rooms, but they only showed me one that was available at that time, and it was the size of a motel room actually. It is in a suburban neighborhood. There was nothing wrong with the place at all. I saw residents that appeared very happy. It was clean, it was very nice, and everybody was very nice. To me, it was an old hotel -- quite dingy and depressing.

Juniper Village was a nice facility, but it was under new management at that time, and they were in the process of improving it. It just didn’t feel very homey nor a place I wanted to put my parents. It seemed to be adequately staffed, but the dining room was a little bit cramped. It was a little bit better priced. It just needed sprucing up.

Provider Response

Hi Richard085085, we appreciate you taking the time to respond. The staff at Juniper Village at Cape Coral take our reviews very seriously. We would like to help turn your lackluster experience around. If you're willing, please contact our Executive Director at (239) 542-3121 to discuss what we can do to help. As you mentioned, she is new to our community and has made a great impression.

We've settled my dad at Juniper Village at Cape Coral. It was very good. The residents of the facility seemed to be well-adjusted and content. The staff seemed to know exactly what to do and how to do it. We found out later that they're in the top 1% of all the assisted living centers in the United States, so I guess that speaks volumes. It's very clean and well maintained. They seem to have plenty of activities for them. Everybody seems to enjoy the food quite a bit, including my father.

Provider Response

Ron784826, thank you for leaving this detailed feedback about your experience with our community. You really made our day today. We look forward to getting to know you and your dad more.

I toured Juniper Village at Cape Coral. I thought it was old, dark, and rundown. The hallways were long, narrow, and semi-dark. I had an OK lunch there of mediocre food.

Provider Response

Thank you for visiting Juniper Village at Cape Coral. As you may have noticed, this is an historic building, filled with classic Florida ambience. We are proud of the historic value of this property and the residential location also adds to the charm. We are also proud of our H’Art and Soul of Dining program and the delicious meals and alternate dining choices afforded our residents. It is unfortunate that you felt that your choice was only mediocre. We invite you to come back for another meal to see if we can “wow” you. We aim to provide meals that appeal to our residents’ desires and even use some of their recipes.

I visited Juniper Village and liked the location and the cleanliness of it. I liked the personnel, the size of the rooms, and the dining room. I didn't find anything about it that I didn't like. They have a lot of activities going on, like cooking expeditions, visitors, and movies. My mother is not exactly the type of person who would take advantage of all of that, though. They have church services, which is very important. They can do transportation, but, for the most part, I've always taken her to her doctor's appointments for the last several years anyway, so that's not a big problem for us. She hasn't really been accepted there yet, but I really liked the personnel that I spoke to, so I would say they're five stars. I was really impressed with it.

Provider Response

Thank you Sharon for taking the time to share this wonderful review and your recommendation to others. We are extremely proud of our community, our Alive in all Seasons activity program and the staff. We're glad that you are impressed and look forward to a great future.

Juniper Village was a very nice place with nice people. The residents seemed to be happy. They take people out to do activities instead of having them sit around all of the time.

Provider Response

Thank you Sandie for sharing you thoughts. We do take pride in the happiness of our residents as well as our role in that happiness. Out trips are just one of the many reasons our residents are happy here. We all enjoy our time together whether within our residence or out in the greater Cape Coral area. We appreciate your four star review and your recommendation of us to others.

Juniper Village at Cape Coral was nice. Everybody was friendly and helpful. We were very well pleased with it. They had a mini-bus where they could take clients out if they had to go to doctors. They had an in-house nurse practitioner that came in. They went to different places. They had a nice menu, but we didn't have dinner or lunch there. The apartments were very roomy and spacious.

Provider Response

Juniper Village was very much a nice place to live; it was very welcoming, very bright, and cheerful. The staff was motivated and professional. They all seemed very pleasant and very interesting. They had crafts, gardening, and sing-alongs. They had stuff for inside and stuff for outside. Even the residents who were doing the activities were very much delighted with it. I saw the whole place: a sample room, the dining room, the activities room, and the gardens. It was nice and very clean; I was very pleased with it. I saw no evidence of neglect at all.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

Juniper Village was impersonal. It was assisted living, but I didn't see any qualified nursing staff. I didn't get a sense of hominess and I didn't think the care was going to be sufficient. It wasn't a secured building. I would not put anyone there who had issues with dementia. They should improve on their safety.

I visited this facility

The Juniper Village at Cape Coral assisted living facility looked really well-kept from the outside as we drove up. We were looking for a suitable new home for my friend's mother. Our tour of the outside grounds was lovely; there were flowers and shrubs everywhere, with nice seating areas. The patio areas also had barbeques where they host private and facility parties. The main foyer had a lovely receiving area, reminiscent of a quaint country home. The living suites were all a nice size and did not seem cramped. They were also beautifully decorated. Each unit had individually controlled temperatures. The kitchens all had ample counter space and appliances. Events and outings scheduled include anything you can imagine - from restaurants, to art museums, the library, local films and crafts, fine dining and theater. They also host monthly birthday parties for residents at the facility which they encourage friends and family to attend. The communal areas all had interesting activities occurring, from reading to games and resident interactions. It was clear that the residents enjoy living here. The dining areas have many options. From more intimate to communal dining, resident can choose whatever they like - in addition to hosting guests in their own spaces. The food choices looked nutritious and delicious, as well as the regular snacks - offered continually. The residents are encouraged to enjoy physical activity as much as possible. They have exercise classes such as yoga and aerobics, or use the weight training and other equipment. They may also enjoy the outer walk ways around the building. All of the resident's needs appear to be met easily and efficiently, in a friendly and caring manner. This is a thoughtfully designed facility with caring and attentive staff.
