I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I recently had a loved one here in this facility. I had a few minor concerns that were immediately addressed by the DON and never had any more issues. The administrator was very kind and made himself accessible to talk or to follow up on previous concerns. The rooms were clean and the staff was very attentive to her needs. Very pleased with the care provided by all and would recommend them to others.

This place is horrible!! My husband went for physical therapy rehab, the staff didn’t get him out of bed, tried to make him wear diapers, didn’t shower him, woke him in the middle of the night trying to give him someone else’s medication, the list goes on. I wouldn’t send my dog there.

My brother-in-law is in the Rehab and Healthcare Center of Cape Coral. Like all places, they suffer from understaffing. So it's kind of hard to get certain things done there, like getting my brother-in-law in and out of bed. They just don't have enough people to do it when he needs to. But the care is very good. I like the therapists and nurses. They try as hard as they can. They're very caring and helpful. My brother-in-law always complains about the food. They have activities every day at 2 o'clock. There's not much of a common area where people can congregate. They have an outdoor patio that we're not able to use. My biggest complaint about the place is that they have automatic doors on the front to get in and out that does not work. His insurance is covering the whole thing, but if it wasn't, I would probably rate the value for money a two.

I rarely write reviews but I feel I Must! This is a 40yr old facility. needs update. The beds are old as the Furniture for residents. Most of all you need to know residents do not have phones in their rooms. The communication system is very old school. There is no voice mail system to leave message for any staff. The rehab department and therapist are good. There a some very compassionate nursing/cna staff however they are overwhelmed. Its very difficult to get updates on my mother when I call. As a daughter out of state I have visited my mom many times. In person the staff is vey helpful. I was told this place is 4 star rated. Not True!! do you research!

The staff were friendly, kind, compassionate. Rooms are doubles and therefore a bit tight if there are two wheelchairs, but that's par for this situation, STAFF WAS GREAT. My friend liked the PT and OT. The food was actually pretty good and we could sit outside and play cards on nice days. I was sad they evacuated but I'm happy to see they (and my friend) are back.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I was released from the hospital with a walker and was told I wasn’t able to use it at the rehab because after their review I needed to use a wheelchair. My surgeon disagreed saying a wheelchair wasn’t better for maneuver with a full hip replacement. I feel it’s a way to keep you Longer. The food is inedible. I have pics. The nurses get nasty when asked for pain meds. Or just don’t answer your call light in middle of the night. It smells terrible like urine and sadness. I would never leave a loved one there. Walk don’t run get rehab at home The rooms are split two people in a room. I did not hear of any activities except for the people sitting in their wheelchairs in front of nurses station. Please take my review seriously I cried until I was released. I was young so they weren’t sure how to handle someone who isn’t catatonic.

Patient allowed to lay in blood soaked sheets for hours, blood soaked sheet placed in wheelchair as a pad then flipped to other side. Patient fell but it was denied it happened, patient calls to staff not responded to in timely fashion. Plastic mattress pad covered with dried matter and old blood, not my husband's. Bed rails have to be approved by physical therapy. Dried blood on floor, smells like urine throughout. I took my husband out after three days. He was then admitted to the hospital. Stay away!

If you want care for a loved one, pass on this chamber of horrors. If you need help to get to the bathroom, you will wait, sometimes more than an hour. You will sometimes be told to just go in your pants and they might change you in a matter of hours. If you like roaches there are plenty to see. Avoid at all costs even though rated four stars. Staff simply doesn't care for the patients.

Rehab and Healthcare Center of Cape Coral was horrible. My dad called me that first night and asked me if he could please leave from there. He had a roommate and that roommate was kicking his bed. I asked him to give it a chance so we could get him through rehab and get home, and he agreed to stay, but I got a call the following morning at 7 o'clock that he was checking himself out. So, I went over to the facility and when I got there, he was in the main lobby sleeping in a chair. Now, this was a man that just had a full hip replacement, but he was left unattended with all his little bags full of his belongings. I spoke with someone who was in charge of the place and she agreed to put him into a new room. Meanwhile, as we sat there, he had no breakfast and no drinks. Nothing. A CNA came up to us and told us that they wanted to take him to his new room, so they put him in a wheelchair that had no feet rest on it. He had to use his own feet to push in the wheelchair. They wheeled us down to see his new room and there were people in the room. The lady said that she'll come back, but she left us in the hallway for half an hour. We don't even know where she went. I pushed him back to the front, sat there, waited again for another hour or so. At that point, I got up and said that I am personally signing him out and told them everything. The air vents where the air conditioner would come out were full of mold and I took pictures of them. I left a cup of coffee on the little end table in the main lobby, but with all those hours that I was there, not one person picked up that cup. It was left there the whole time. The whole place was unsupervised and their workers looked unprofessional.

My brother, Al, was cared for at this facility in September 2021 & spent about 24 days here for physical therapy and strength building. No place is perfect as rehab/nursing facilities are often understaffed. However, we were extremely pleased with the care he received. We found the staff to be very responsive, extremely qualified, and deeply caring. We especially want to recognize Nikki who was the face of the facility to us. Her communication and follow up is outstanding. I am in Ohio, but I always felt my brother was safe and well cared for with her on staff. She addressed every question and concern we had. I also want to recognize Nikki & Cindy for the wonderful care plan and implementation. The physical therapy team were miracle workers led by Liz and too many talented and skilled staff members to name here. My brother is back in the hospital in Naples & may need to return to a skilled nursing facility for a few weeks. This is our first choice as we found the care to be exceptional. Thank you everyone! Also, my brother LOVED the food here.

My mother was at Rehab and Healthcare Center of Cape Coral. You had some very pleasant and attentive people that work there, and then there were some who treated my mother like a child. Some of the administration was incredibly helpful, but others not so much. We had a perfume issue out there. My mom has allergies, so I spoke to someone in charge. They said they were going to fix it, and said, "Oh, no. Our workers aren't supposed to wear that stuff. We'll have to bring people in and retrain them." Still the CNAs were coming in like they were bathing in that. Quite frankly, my mom came out of rehab in worse shape than when she went in because of things like an allergic reaction,. She was sitting and waiting for an hour for someone to come get her to go to the bathroom. She had nine days of diarrhea. You can't be sitting waiting an hour for someone to come get you when you have diarrhea. So, she was getting up and transferring into a wheelchair and toppling into the bathroom and transferring to the toilet and then back again to the bed. Those were some of the issues that we had on some levels. There were some very nice people and some very caring individuals, but then some others that were problematic. I also think that the level of communication was kind of lacking not only them with me, but among each other. They changed their visitation rules at one point and because they were still kind of very restricted to Covid. When they changed them, they never made that well known. I could have come out. They didn't have Sunday visiting hours and suddenly I found out at 3 o'clock on a Sunday that they already have visiting hours. I thought they still closed at 3:00, so I didn't go. I found out later that I could have come in till 5:00. Then I found out they opened it up completely; but again, they didn't tell anybody. Things are kind of old, but basically kept clean and neat. Because she hadn't had a Covid shot because of her allergies and asthma, she was on quarantine for the first 11 days. They were bringing therapy to her. Sometimes they would show up late in the evening, like eight thirty (one night it was even 10:00 when they showed up for therapy). She was in her nightgown, and she was winding down for the day. She couldn't really participate in anything outside of her room because of the quarantine issue. She came out of quarantine only a couple of days before she was due to be released. She never really got to experience anything else there. There was gravy on nearly every meal they brought; all slathered with gravy. She can't eat dinner after four o'clock because she has GURD, and they consistently brought it at 5:30 or 6:30. I was bringing her something to eat around four o'clock every day. I would purposely come towards the end during meals so that shortly after I left, she would eat. She doesn't have teeth, and they would bring her stuff that she absolutely couldn't eat. We didn't pay for it. It was paid by Medicaid. I know if I had to put her in there, like on a respite basis, it would be $223 a day. I definitely didn't feel it was worth $223 a day. I would suggest they improve the communication and training and to listen to the patient and the family. I was there several times and went to somebody and said this or that or the other things. Sometimes it was, "I will take care of that" and then nothing.

I visited this facility

Medicare has this facility rated at 3.5. What a joke! They are in a current crisis of c diff bacteria infection under quarantine. Visiting hrs very limited. My moms first night had Palmetto bugs in her bed. They had to spray entire facility. Dead bugs everywhere. The Meal plan is slop at best!! No phones in room. 1-2 hrs if the Nurse button is pushed. 7 days before my mom got a shower. Choose another location if you can!!!!!!!

My husband stayed at Cape Coral Pain & Rehab Center. My overall experience was adequate. Some of the staff were very good. They had church mass. The food was okay, and the facility's condition was very good. They bring music in, they play bingo and card games, they help people moving from their wheelchair, and they used to play the balloon games back and forth.

Other

My experience at the Rehab & Convalescent Center has been exceptional. The staff, cleanliness, food service, entertainment has been much better than I expected. The food is prepared with care adding nice seasonings and exra care to make a good presentation even though dealing with budgets for food costs. The oatmeal each morning was great....not one lump in 20 days! Several selections always available and sandwiches if desired instead of or in addition to the menu items. Residents that need to be hand-fed are handled beautifully and with great care. Activities are fun and upbeat with word games or trivia in the morning wth coffee and cookies. Music was excellent with several entertainers that were very special and interacted with the residents on an extremely positive note. Several religious services available each week. The Therapy department is totally amazing. They are caring, knowledgeable and professional while making it "fun" to do the therapy necessary for the individual situations. Very adaptable to the needs of their patients. Many people are permanent residents and some have been there for 10 years or more which is impressive! One long-term resident noted: family oriented; friendly staff; CLEAN; feel more like a home than an institution; many activities; serene outside area; entertainment; good menu with several selections for each meal. This has been rated as 5 Stars and I can see why!

Terrible place. My Mother just moved in last week for rehab and I am getting her out asap. It smells of urine, staff stares at you like they are hiding something. Resident told me "it always smells this way."

Lots of sick and uncaring staff. Parent sick constantly. Roughed up by uncaring staff. Wound care needed after several drops from staff when getting back into bed. Several pneumonia cases, too. Food is disgusting.

My aunt was a patient here for two weeks. Worse facility she's ever been admitted to here in Lee County. Dirty- there were roaches in her room. Generally cleanliness was below average. It was a major ordeal every night to get clean towels for her shower. Most nurses seemed genuinely caring and interested with well being. But several were horrible. Lack of communication between staff and staff and patients made it more difficult then necessary. This facility would be the last choice.

The first time I went at Rehad and Healthcare Center of Cape Coral, I was very upset and ready to leave. Nobody really greeted us, and then, somebody took us to my mother-in-law's room, but then nothing happened until I finally asked what was going on. I found out later that they had several patients who came in at the same time and things were not coordinated. What happened was not on purpose. She was there for about 21 days, and the care she got was pretty good. The staff were very pleasant with her. She had a roommate, and she did not like it at first, but then she adjusted to it. She liked the food, although I thought it was very repetitive. I thought that it all looked the same. It was an older facility, and it bothered me that the whole place was painted in either white, off-white, or tan. The rooms were older too, and small considering that there were two people with wheelchairs and both needed oxygen.

I am fairly satisfied with the facility. The staff is very friendly and they treat my Grandmother with the utmost respect. The place is usually clean except a few times I visited when they were short-handed it was a little untidy. The rooms are a bit small for people going in and out in wheelchairs but my Grandmother manages to get through okay as long as Items are not left in the way. There was an incident where my Grandmother had fallen and claimed that it took several minutes for anyone to respond. There were also a few times I went there and her air conditioner was not working properly and the room was very hot. But other than that she is pretty happy with the place and says she would not leave it for anything. I would have to say I would recommend it to anyone seeking care.

My cousin's wife was a resident of this facility while she was recoverig from a cerebral hemorrhage. At first, I confess that I found the very plain exerior of this facility to be somewhat unsettling. It is also located on a very busy street. I was concerned that the care would be inadequate and the facility oudated. My cousin assured me that the facility was highly recommended to him for individuals who needed the services that his wife needed. I admit that, after observing the way she was cared for and the way her condition approved, I discovered that a facility cannot be judged by its exterior alone. My cousin's wife was well cared for in the Rehab and Health Care Center of Cape Coral and her condition significantly approved. The staff was friendly and attentive whenever I visited her.
