When we had a friend recommend this place for our Mom, we went to check it out for ourselves and get a feel for the people who work there too. The lady we met with who showed us an apartment was super nice and went out of her way to answer all the questions we had. She put Mom at ease and made her feel welcome. It's located next to a college, which makes Mom feel like there's always activity around her, and it makes her more eager to get out and join activities around the complex. We're really happy with everything here and so is Mom.

This is a big facility of 140 units run by a nonprofit corporation providing subsidized independent senior living. It borders the campus of George Washington, so the area has an active feel. There are also nice views; you can see the Watergate Hotel out the window. All residents have their own apartments, either efficiencies or one-bedrooms, of adequate size; care share can be used to cover private duty care and nursing needs. The dining room is cafeteria style"”offering the type of food typically found in senior living, although some options of choice are available. The staff is very knowledgeable. There is a resident care manager who coordinates medical care appointments and care from outside vendors as well as occasional care assessment of residents. This is more than most similar facilities offer"”and is especially helpful if there are no relatives or friends nearby to help supervise care. The common areas feel very safe and secure. And there is a little area in front of each elevator on every floor where residents sometimes gather and socialize. Volunteers from the community come in and provide entertainment and activities or run errands, or simply sit and talk to provide companionship. The staff will coordinate transportation if needed and a van is also provided to transport residents. The cost is less than for similar facilities in the area.
