I visited this facility

Jackson Creek Senior Living is pretty new and it was delightful. It appeared almost as though you would be living in a hotel. It had the elevators, and the hallway with the apartments. They had nice little rooms on the main floor. They had a library with a grand piano and they had a little place for happy hour, little bars. They had several private dining rooms that you could use if you wanted to or you could order and have the food either take it up to your place or have it sent up to your apartment. And it was just really nice and it was very close to the medical team that we used there. And they have a lot of shopping, and just a lot of everything within a mile, shopping, restaurants, grocery stores, banking. Those are the pros. Now, the cons are the fact that the apartments are pretty small and they're not all alike. Some of them have angles where you could get what you wanted and there are other places you couldn't. The dining room is one open area. They have a place where you can have a private family party if you want. And then they had a sitting room in the front of the place upstairs. Independent living is on the third floor, assisted living is on the second floor, and then the memory care is on the ground floor. On that third floor, there was another sitting room with all glassed in. It was just one big glass wall or a big window that you could look out. And it looks right out within a quarter mile of the mountains surrounding the Air Force Academy there. They did have a workout room. They didn't have a pool. But they do have a salon and they have all kinds of activities for the residents like clubs and painting and things like that. And they also had a place outside where you could garden some. And I think they had a nice backyard, so to speak, with a gazebo, plenty of grass and everything. They did not have balconies, which I think is very important. They did have plenty of social things to do. They had two baths and two bedrooms. Two baths are what we looked at and they weren't both master bedrooms. So, one of them had the bathroom off the kitchen as you walked in. But it was a full bath and they had washers, dryers and they served three meals a day. It's included in the price.

I visited this facility

I have toured many places and Jackson Creek Senior Living is one of those that stand out. There wasn't anything that I didn't like about it, it was a beautiful facility and I was impressed by the staff. They have two different dining rooms, they have a room where a physical therapist comes in, and a doctor comes in and tours. There's a priest that comes and tours and does rounds in the rooms. So my mother's religious needs would have been attended to there. Everything about it I loved, and I would move there as well. I have not tried their food, but it smelled delicious. There's always something to do. They had a gym and a salon, they had an activities room, they have multiple community areas to come out and socialize, and they have tables where activities are set up. They had puzzles set out if you want to come out and work on them, and I've seen residents there doing that. I saw a 100-year-old woman wheel herself out of her room to come down, and she was sitting there working on a puzzle with three friends sitting around, and they're chit-chatting.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father lived at Jackson Creek Senior Living but has moved out now. The facility was well kept as were the grounds. His room was inviting, it was appealing, and the staff welcomed my dad to the independent side. We liked Laura, who was the intake coordinator. I think there were many activities offered, but he was unable to participate in those. They had exercises, movies, they did field trips, and they had special food for the Super Bowl, and although because of COVID they couldn't do a party, they did a little party tray, and came to the residents' apartments to try to celebrate it in what way they could. My father never got to sit in the dining hall even once, he took all of his food in his room. The independent side had good food. The memory care side did not and I have verified that they are different. He stayed in independent living, and then he had to transfer to the other side, which was the memory care side for more help. The administrative staff was so different from the main staff. They should stabilize the management. We had a lot of individuals who left. The turnover rate was unfortunately high, so the best way would be to lead with stable management. It would be so great if, upon intake, they went through the duties that they are and are not willing to perform, up and through an individual's end of life.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother has moved into Jackson Creek Senior Living. Basically, they're very accommodating. When we met with them, they took us on a big tour showing us all the facilities and all the activities that are available to the seniors. It was very inviting and warm. It just happened that we put her name on the list one day, and a couple of days later, they had a place become available; so we jumped in on Jackson Creek. The people are wonderful, and they're very helpful in trying to help her figure out some things. She's adjusting to her new living conditions. Any time she has a question, she just calls the front desk; there are no issues. It's a nice community. One of the things that she noticed about it right away was how bright it was. We went and visited another one and the halls were dark, and it was kind of dreary. This place is very bright, cheery, and open. That was a huge deciding factor. It's a 2-bedroom because she wanted a little bit more space. She has an office in one of the bedrooms, and then her bedroom, This one happens to be a 2-bedroom and two baths. They have all kinds of things. They have puzzles, and they've probably got about 10 to 15 activities a day on Sundays. They have various church services. They have singing and a choir (which she loves and wants to do that). They have outings a couple times a week. They do the grocery shopping for her. They've got a whole bunch of different activities going on like cards, bridge, and things like that. On Friday nights they do a happy hour or ice cream social. There is a whole bunch of stuff going on any given day. They have a progressive thing. She can get into an independent or assisted living, and if she needs to they have a memory care unit. That is the other thing that we liked about it. They've got varying degrees of assisted living, just like most of these senior living facilities. That was one of the big things too; the communities are all together. They can dine together with people in assisted living and people with independent living. I don't know about the memory care unit. These are all people that she will get to know, so if she does have to move, she could be like, "Oh! Hey, you're Betty from upstairs." I like that they're not all segregated, which is one of the things I was looking at.

I visited this facility

Jackson Creek Senior Living was less than a year old, it was very nice, and the staff was nice. It's a beautiful place, but it was too far away from where I wanted it to be. The person who showed us around was absolutely helpful, but we did not get to the financials. They had dining areas all over the place, some were open all the time, and some were open only during mealtimes. They had a swimming pool, gym activities, and they were playing bingo.

Provider Response

We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to Jackson Creek Senior Living and proud of the community that has developed since our opening Oct 2018. We are also grateful to be close to the Tri Lakes YMCA so our residents with YMCA memberships have the option of exercising in our fitness classes and/or use our equipment as well as take a quick trip up the street to use the YMCA's pool.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother lived in the facility From January to March of 2019. Sadly, my 96 year old mother passed away in March. We moved her into the facility because she really just cold not take care of herself anymore and we needed a safe environment. The staff was so kind to my mother and helped her with her needs. My mother's room was perfect for her. She lived in a studio apartment. There was always something to do each day and the food was delicious. We were treated like family and I was grateful to the loving care my mother received.
