My husband and I were looking for senior living for my sister. Mary, community sales manager provided exceptional service. She explained all amenities. She was very professional and informative. She took us to a unit that was empty. The hallways and unit were very clean. If you are looking for senior living for a loved one, check out Holiday Highland Trail in Broomfield

Holiday Highland Trail was clean. They had recently gone through some renovations, so there were some newer upgrades in the rooms. It was nice. The least we liked was that it was more expensive than the other property. The staff was friendly, helpful, very knowledgeable, and very informative. The facility was clean, new, and modern. The atmosphere was warm, comfortable, and well-lit. The courtyard was open and inviting.

We have signed the lease at Holiday Highland Trail. All they have there is independent living. It's very clean. The salesperson was very friendly and flexible with my crazy schedule for coming in and touring. It felt like a really nice transition. They offer more than just like a senior apartment, but it doesn't feel like a nursing home either. It's kind of a nice in-between, which is perfect for what kind of level my father is at. I felt like the price was very reasonable for that as well. Twice a month they have kind of an event there, and the staff was telling me that they were getting ready for their Hawaiian luau. On one of my tours there were some individuals that were in the game room playing cards and Scrabble and that kind of thing. They recently got some money for a big renovation, so all of the common areas are being renovated, and then each of the individual apartments are being renovated kind of as people move through them. Everything was very clean, new, and modern.

I went to see Holiday Highland Trail. The staff was excellent. They didn't provide meals at this place. They didn't have a place for me to move into when I needed more intensive care. They had studio rooms and apartments available.

I visited this facility

Holiday Highland Trail had very small rooms. We were looking at a one-bedroom unit and it was significantly smaller than the other facility. They were also very rigid with their dining hours. They only had one hour for breakfast, one hour for dinner, and one hour for lunch. So, that was kind of depressing. The people and the staff were great. I liked them. It just seemed a lot older and a little depressing.

Provider Response

Thank you for considering Holiday Highland Trail for your new home and we appreciate your feedback. Our community is undergoing renovations and we would love to show you around once the project is completed. We enjoyed meeting you and wish you the best in finding your new home.

The unit we saw at Holiday Highland Trail wasn't as big as the other facility we visited. It was a one-bedroom apartment with a living room and a refrigerator. It had a bathroom and a closet, but there was no stove and not as much storage. The lady that got to tour me was nice and very friendly. She offered a lot of suggestions as to acclimating my mother to that facility and some tips on getting her acclimated to any facility, not just theirs. She was great. We had a nice experience touring it.

I liked the location of Holiday Highland Trail as well as the amenities in the area. They provide three meals a day and they're remodeling some of the areas in the facility. I was very impressed with the staff. They were willing to accommodate any problems I had. They had transportation where a bus could take you anywhere in Broomfield.

Holiday Highland Trail was a comfortable place. The outside was impressive. The staff was very informative, easy to communicate with, and very friendly. They have bingo, walks, and outside activities with transportation furnished. I liked the location because my mom lived in the mountains, and it had the same kind of view.

Highland Trail was nice. The bad part is that there are only old people there. It was an area that was close to me. They had a beautiful dining room. I did not eat there, but it looks very nice. The price is something that I could swing if I had to.

We were at a place called Highland Trail before we came to our current place. We liked it, we liked the facility and the staff. Everything about it like the rate was a lot less than what we're paying here. We moved because I thought my wife was going to have to be in assisted living and they didn't have assisted living. It's a senior home, but without assisted living. They didn't have full kitchens either and we also wanted a full kitchen, which we have here. We were there for 2 and a half years. That's where my wife had fallen. She fractured her back, neck, and arm. When we came here to our current place, she was in a wheelchair. We thought she was going to need assisted living, but she's improved ever since we've been here. It's an independent living and it's a very nice place. If they have a full kitchen, I'd go back in a second. The community was good and everything was good. The room we were in had two bedrooms and two baths with showers. We had 3 meals a day. It was not great food, it's typical, I guess you would say, hospital food. The food was good enough though. We did get 3 meals a day and they were all on time. When we were there, we could eat in their cafeteria. My wife was still able to eat in the cafeteria until we had to leave. The staff was good too. Of course, there were certain people we didn't like but that was our problem, not theirs. We didn't participate in the activities but I think they were doing a lot. Because that was before the virus came out.

The appearance of Highland Trail is wonderful and the layout seems fine. My mother's room is good. It's just a studio which is basically one big room with a kitchen area and a bathroom, but it's perfect for her and we're very pleased with that. All the staff members seemed good and friendly, I haven't had problems. Their services are also good although she's not using all the services she could use. She still likes to make her own meals even though I tell her she's already paying for that stuff. The dining area is nice, she doesn't complain about the food as well. They have a bunch of activities like movie nights which are movies from the 40's and 50's. I also saw their calendar which is huge and there's a lot of stuff on it. I haven't seen anything there that I'm dissatisfied with at all. The staff people are all very friendly and there were no complaints from mom at all.

Provider Response

Hello Kurt, thank you for the kind words. And, thank you for sharing how much your mother is enjoying living at Highland Trail. We love providing a wide variety of engaging, fulfilling, and entertaining activities for our residents.

I have moved into Highland Trail. It is working out fine. They have quite a few different games, talks, and exercise programs. The staff members are wonderful. Everybody seems very knowledgeable and helpful. The food is very good. They have three choices in all meals, which make it nice. They have an activity room, a TV room, and an exercise room.

My mother-in-law has moved into Highland Trail. It is a great area. So far, we are pleased with the staff. My mother-in-law has some mild dementia going on so we are concerned where things are going to go with that. However, they assured us that they have people in the place that will help work with her, and that she can age in place. It seems like they're doing a good job. One of the big things that we needed for her was the meal plan because she was losing weight, but that seems to be going pretty well. They have multiple things a day going on. At this point, my mother-in-law isn't participating too much. They have religious services, they have arts and crafts, and they have musicians that come in. Tomorrow, they're actually having Santa Claus come in. There's lots of stuff going on. We have eaten with my mother-in-law a couple of times. One meal wasn't the greatest, but the rest were very good. The place is beautiful. That’s one of the reasons we picked it. Her apartment is so nice, bright, and airy. It is very expensive, but compared to others that we looked at, I think they're doing a good job. It is competitive.

Highland Trail was very clean and very quiet. The staff was very informative and good during the visit. We viewed a couple of rooms. The one-bedroom was very spacious and had a balcony. The two-bedroom was a little too big for my dad. The lunch was very good and in smaller portions for seniors. The library was a good size, and the community room where they play games and cards was nice.

Highland Trail was very nice. The manager was exceptional. I liked it very much. We had a meal there and I thought it was very good. I met some of the servers and the receptionist and they were good. I just saw one room and it had a really nice patio. They were very small, but most of the senior living homes are small. I don't know how I'm going to get my king-sized bed in there, but other than that, it was like most of the other facilities. I didn't see anything other than the apartment, the kitchen, and the reception area, and they were all good.

We visited Highland Trail. Their sales force was pushy. It had no kitchen. The residents seemed friendly enough. From the interviews that I did with the residents, they weren't really thrilled. Food was OK, but I wanted something more where I could at least cook once in awhile, and they didn't provide that.

Highland Trail is excellent. It is airy, open, sunny, and friendly. The general manager assisted me. She was friendly and knowledgeable. She toured the whole place with me. Some residents were playing beanbag toss baseball in one room, and others were playing cards in another room. Some other residents were also putting puzzles together in another room. It was just a really friendly feeling. The food is delicious. The dining area is very large. Highland Trail feels like a cruise ship. It is very large, and you hear a lot of laughter. There were some people who were quite a bit older and probably weren’t as humorous as some of them, but overall it was a nice place.

The one that I really liked among the places I visited was Highland Trail. I liked that it was closer to the mountain. It had a really nice view. The residents were happy. They had nice people. I loved their dining room. They had a really nice place where they could go walking if they wanted to. It was very nice. People working there seemed to be well trained. They had activities like bingo, and they had a little ice cream social. They knew we were visiting, and they saw us walking. One of the residents said: "I have been here for about three years, and I really like it". They were all very nice. It was clean. I could not see anything that was distracting or my dad would not feel comfortable.

Mom and dad are at Highland Trail, and they’re both happy. It has individual apartments, a dining room, and beauty shops. They have games and feed them. They took awhile to adjust, but they have adjusted. I think the people who run it seem to be quite good, though I would say they have a little trouble at housekeeping sometimes; housekeeping comes and goes. I know they can improve on that.

I visited this facility

I visited Highland Trail two months ago, and it was good. They had one meal, and the food seemed fresh, not frozen. The dining hall was nicer than the other facility I visited. It’s a new place, about three-and-a-half years old. It’s a big, bright building with lots of light and wide halls. The managers live there in the building. The people were very cordial, and I got this feeling that they would work extra hard to introduce my mom around and try to make her feel welcome. The only thing I didn't like was that it’s in a residential neighborhood at the corner of an intersection travelled a lot by commuters. Their building seemed to be in a V or L shape, and the back of the building faced the intersection, so if residents go outside, they're right there where the traffic is buzzing by. I think they can fix that by putting in some mature trees. I looked at one and two bedrooms that were 900 squre feet wide, which is probably 200 more square feet than where she is now. We looked at a smaller rooms, too, which were pretty typical small rooms.

Highland Trail was really nice inside. I looked at two-bedroom and one-bedroom apartments with a small kitchenette. It was a small place. It was open. There was an area towards the back where people sat on a table talking. I walked around, and it was very nice and comfortable place. Everybody that I talked to seemed nice.

I know a number of couples that live in Highland Trail, and they're excellent. The food was fine, nice facility, great people. For the rooms, they have a choice and a number of different layouts -- two-bedroom and one-bedroom units. They're pretty new, in great shape, and well taken care of. My wife's parents live there also.

My dad likes Highland Trail. He likes the fact that they provide the meals and the room. They come and clean once a week for him. They vacuum, dust, and everything. I think they offer everything. They have exercise classes, and they cut their hair. He just seems to be doing really well there. They do allow pets. He has his cat with him. He seems to be happy, and they seem to take good care of him. The important thing is that he is given good care, and he is content where is. I like his apartment. He has everything he needs. It is well organized, and it has plenty of room.

Mom is in Highland Trail. We chose it because it is close to home. All of her kids and grandkids are within five miles. It is just five years old, and everything is nice and new. It is very affordable. I am very impressed that it is very clean and very personable. I went around and talked to the residents while we looked at the place, and everybody we talked to seemed to be happy and liked the place. We had lunch there, and the food was great. They have a pretty and well-maintained dining room. The tables are spread out, and the wait staff is top notch. Mom is in a spacious one-bedroom apartment. It is a nice size, very roomy, and has a lot of closet space. It is a nice setup for her, and it has a nice balcony. The staff is very professional all the way around, from the wait staff to the management. Most of the staff knew my mom and where her room was within the first week she was there. They have a well-rounded group of activities. Mom is mostly into the musical activities, and they have some people come in a couple of times a week and perform different instruments. It is top notch, and we have had a really good experience so far.

My mother-in-law has been at Highland Trail for a week now in their hospice care unit. The staff are doing very well, and they seemed to be fully staffed. They do just about everything they need. They do medication reminders and wheel her to the dining room whenever she wants. They assist her in bathing and help her get dressed. The facility is very clean, but just the only thing that would be helpful is for them to have skilled nursing care.

It's excellent. Outstanding accommodation and meals, but it has become so expensive. The staff is pretty good, but they had had quite a turnover.
