I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was recently a resident at Windsor Terrace for ten days. The care he got was outstanding. The nurses are very caring. The physical, occupational and speech therapists, as well as the wound specialist are excellent. The rooms are clean and well kept. The nurses are responsive, coming quickly after they are called. Previously, my husband was in two other rehab facilities that did not measure up to Windsor. Everyone at Windsor tried hard to make our whole family feel comfortable and at ease. Muty really went the extra mile. She treated us like we were her own family. Demetrius (PT), Erlinda (OT), and Estella went out of their way for us. Administrators Ana Tolossa and Cristina Castro couldn't have been more welcoming. They did whatever they could to bring about a smooth transition. They were kind and empathetic. We are very grateful that we found Windsor.

My husband has been in 3 Skilled Nursing Facilities and this is by far the best. Clean, quiet and everyone is very attentive. I can’t believe how quickly they get things done compared to other facilities, and how well they have taken care of my husband. My thanks go out to everyone there.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I came here for Rehab during covid. This place was clean I had way more than enough food so those that don't like it are probably on some kind of medication making it hard to taste or maybe it taste badd to them but I'm not on that kind of medication and it tasted fine and every me who's truly more than I could eat. I never rang the nurses bell and had to wait longer than 10 minutes which was only one time. Every other time if I rang the nurses button someone was here within 2 minutes maximum. The formal physical and occupational therapy I Received following my hip joint replacement surgery was excellent quality. My Room and bathroom were kept clean daily even if they did not hear from me for a while someone would pop their head in and make sure I was doing OK and the staff was truly pleasant and loving and I think that makes a success. I leave here tomorrow with a smile on my face.

I am/was a resident of this facility

This place is horrible! CNAs were not giving me a shower for days until my son came and yelled at them! Nurses did not respond to my cal light for over 2 hours and I suffered from pain, NP was using a foul language yelling at nurses. My lab results was not there when my primary doctor was waiting for them. It was a nightmare

Other

My mother was in this facility for 2 weeks in May 2013 following a hospitalization. The rehab (OT, PT) was very good. However, I found the staff to be disorganized & the Medical Assts. to be somewhat apathetic & not compliant. My mother had a lot of pain due to a torn rotator cuff (shoulder) & the assts would routinely pull her by the arm to help her up. I had to show them the correct/painless/safe way to transfer a patient--and they STILL pulled her by the arm. My mom was transferred there on a Sunday & was not given food (special diet), medication or even a bed(!)--they set her up in doctor's lounge--upon arrival. The Admissions Director was not notified & it took 3 adults and until the middle of the night Monday to get everything straightened out. I stayed the night with her b/c she has COPD/dementia/fall risk and I was afraid she would not get proper care throughout the night. This facility, like many, is probably understaffed and there are not enough NURSES for the amount of patients. Most of the care is provided by Medical Assts who did not seem too bright. Compared to other facilities I've visited from no stars to five stars, I would say this facility is slightly below average.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother-in-law had passed away. She was 96 years old and lived a wonderful life. When she was still alive, we placed her in Windsor Terrace which Van Nuys Hospital recommended at that time. She was there for 28 days. When we first put her in there, the care was good. We went and visited her several times and there were times when she should have been changed but she wasn't. They also had to grind food for her but she didn't like the taste of anything, so she ate very little. She was sent back to the hospital because they thought she might have pneumonia. She was in the hospital for several days and they sent her back to Windsor Terrace. When they sent her back there this second time, they just kind of plopped her in her room. They didn't give her physical therapy nor did they try to get her up and out of bed to eat. Nobody was there to feed her. The last week she was there I felt was terrible and that's why we took her out of there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I do not live too far from this facility, but find it difficult to visit my mother because of the anger I feel everytime I walk through the doors of Windsor Terrace. When my mother was placed there the first time, she only stayed for several days. I had gone to pick her up, bringing our brand new wheelchair & had set my purse down next to my mother, who was sitting in their wheelchair in front of the nurses' station. I went to her room to get her belongings & returned just a minute later, & notice my purse had vanished. They all looked at me like I was crazy when I insisted that it was there & demanded that they return it. They suggested I go look in the laundry room & spent several hours digging though tons of dirty laundry, finding my pen at the bottom of a laundry barrel. I had had enough & called the police. While I was sitting out front waiting for them, someone came to tell me that they had "found" it in the dumpster out back. When I went to get my mother, I pushed her to our car realizing that I had left our wheelchair inside. When I went to get it, it was gone. Poof!! Several hours later, it was dicovered in the corner of a basement. After she was home for a while, she once again had to go to the hospital, but they released her immediately to my care. They set it up to where she would eat regular food during the waking hours & at night, she would be machine fed nutrients through a feeding tube while she slept. Things were good for about a year, but she was once again sent to the emergency room & they discharged her to Windsor Gardens again. Well, my mother absolutely loves food & had no problems swallowing or anything. Windsor Gardens has not fed her my mouth since she has been there, which is well over two years. Everytime I talk to them, they insist that she cannot eat regular food, so while everyone else is having their lunches & dinners in the dining rooms, my mother has to sit there starving to death. On holidays, they will not let me bring her cake, or turkey & mashed potatoes, or ice cream, or anything that she loves & it breaks my heart. I had been sneaking her food, but they keep their eyes on me so it is very difficult & I do not know what to do.
