I visited this facility

If we go forward, we will probably be moving my mom into Belmont Village Encino's Assisted Living in Sherman Oaks. It's super clean, organized, has friendly people, and it's well run. The staff I interacted with during my tour was Diana. She's super friendly and knowledgeable. She addressed many of the residents by name, which was really nice. She knew the people who were there. The facility was excellent. I visited their dining area. I did not try the food, but it looked really delicious. The menu was superb.

Belmont Village Encino was very nice and clean. The people were very nice, and the staff member who toured us was very friendly. We were going to go with them, but we decided to keep Mother at home.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I placed my father at Belmont Village Encino. It is a beautiful place with an excellent location and excellent people. We chose it because it was the closest facility to my home. I just like the atmosphere and the people. There's a guy named Jose there, and he's absolutely fantastic. My father has an apartment, and it is beautiful. Some of the elderly ladies complain that the food isn't perfect, but it isn't bad. They have so many activities, including live entertainment and games like bingo. Once a week, they have an event with an open bar. They serve wine and cheese, and there's entertainment with people who come in and sing old songs. It is so much fun!

My mother has moved into Belmont Village. It is assisted living with two levels of memory care. My mother is in the beginning level of memory care. The main thing about this facility is that it has a memory care for early-stage dementia and not for Alzheimer’s. None of the other ones has it. They only have Alzheimer’s memory care. It is a beautiful facility. Circle Of Friends is where they have the whole program for moderate dementia. The care is very personal. My mother has nurses and caregivers 24/7. Everyone has been helpful. My mother has a beautiful apartment and loves the food. The facility is so far, so good. I would recommend this place.

The rooms and the environment at Belmont Village of Encino were very nice. The dining area had very strict hours, which I did not like. The facility is located on a very busy street.

My mother was very impressed with Belmont Village Encino, but the prices were higher than we have been told. The atmosphere was very nice, and they had activities. She liked one of the rooms, but she found the studio quite small. I would recommend it for someone who can afford to pay for the more expensive rooms.

I visited this facility

I am moving in to Belmont Village this month. It is the only place that has called me back. They are remarkable. I am ready to move in right now or tomorrow if I can. No one compares to this one. I am just too thrilled to find them. The people there are wonderful. They help me and they are just great. I am pleased with them. We went there for lunch twice. The first lunch was extremely impressive, and I am just amazed. They are very courteous. They call me back. They walk us through it and tell us what to do with it, and I called back several times to ask them what to bring. I say I will bring my computer, and they say "No. We got a computer room here". However, my problem is I have my computer and I do research for a group of international growers of plants. I am horticulturist and I need my books with me. If I am downstairs working on my computer and my books are upstairs, that's not going to help me. So, I cannot decide to bring my own computer with me or not and that's the only question I have to ask them. I have the menu here, and I am very impressed with the food. This is the second menu that I picked up and it is different from the first. I met the chef and he is a trained chef. I made sure that he wasn't just someone who sat there and cooked. The lady who is my helper there, she is just a living doll. I just appreciated whatever they did for me. I really do, and I let them know it too. They are very good. My first experience there I tell them I have no transportation, and she says "That's okay. I'll pick you up" and they came and picked me up. I think that is very gracious. They have entrees like pâté, fillet, grilled salmon, grilled fish of the day, glazed chicken, teriyaki, pasta of the day, and stuffed baked potato. I am allowed to bring my cat, which I am thrilled to death. She is my sweetheart, and she saves my life. When my husband died, that was the only thing I have to cling on to. They have so many activities, and I don't know how I am going to keep up with them. They have bridge, card games, and learning how to make glass hobbies, and they are constantly doing something. I am going to participate. I don't want to just sit there and have everyone do everything for me. I want to be a part of the group and I don't want to be outside of the group. However, I am picky about food. I am very allergic on certain things, and I have to tell them I cannot eat cheese in any manner, shape, or form. The food that they have on the menu seems very well planned, they have choices, and I don't have to have cheese. I have to be very careful with what I eat, and they seem to be conscious about that. Belmont is the only one that I feel comfortable in and welcome. It is clean. and nice, the food is lovely, and I really like the place.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Beware: My mother died here due to negligence in the Alzheimer's unit. During breakfast when all the caregivers should be watching residents, she was allowed to wander off without anyone stopping her. She fell on the other side of the facility. She then was transported to the hospital and died. When I visited, I often saw residents wandering without attention. There was not the support needed. If you care about your loved ones - especially those with dementia - DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONE THERE!!!

I live very close by Belmont Village and I visited the place. The rooms were very high end and very clean. It's a very nice facility and it's like a luxury hotel, but very expensive. The staff is very nice. They have everything in a facility you could ask for. If they can afford it, I would recommend Belmont to others.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

When you first see the Belmont Village in Encino, California, it looks very clean and welcoming from the outside. There is guest parking outside of the building, metered parking on the street and garage parking for staff and 2 hour parking spots. In order to get into the garage you have to have the access code. As for the building, no one can get in before 8 am, unless you are an employee. However, they also have a doorbell for planned visitors to get access. The common areas for the senior citizens are clean and comfortable for socializing. They have a restaurant that services three meals a day. The food is okay. I think it could come out hotter though from my experience of eating there. They do have holiday events which are done in a buffet-style format and my friend enjoys them. They also have a lot of musical concerts in the evenings for the residents. The overall staff is nice and courteous. Some of their caregivers (pals), could use a refresher course on how to handle clothes in the laundry rooms though. When they don't put the number of the senior's room on the washer and dryers, some clothes go unaccounted for. I find that irresponsible. Although, it seems that the best caregivers work during the day and are more proactive with me as a visitor and the senior's clothes. The cooking staff are nice. My friend likes some people in management because she can go in their office and express her needs. They have plenty of activity rooms and always list the activities for the day in both elevators and on each floor. They have a nurses station that is always crowded since everyone desires to get their medicine at the same time. I do see that some of the nurses get frustrated by some residence actions, which baffles me, because they are working in an assisted living facility. It does come with the job. However, they do their job, but it can take time to get papers faxed to doctors when requested. They have a good transportation department who takes the seniors out for appointments and outdoor recreation, which I hear from my friend. They also have a friendly receptionist at the desk as well. As far as maintenance, my friend likes her maintenance man. Personally, I believe they could work on getting more maintenance help since so many dryers in the laundry rooms go broken for a while. That can be frustrating when I'm helping out with my friend's laundry. Overall, I gave them a 4 because my friend who lives there likes the place and I believe that's what really matters at the end of the day.

I visited this facility

This facility was not up to most modern standards. The decor and the feel of the building was very dated, but I guess most senior citizens would feel more comfortable in an environment that they are more familiar with. I took a tour of this facility, as it was one of many places that I was interested in enrolling my grandparents. I wanted them to be in a place that was warm and comfortable, as well as safe and inexpensive. The Belmont Village of Encino in Sherman Oaks, while moderately expensive, was not up to the standard that I would set for my beloved grandparents to reside. Most retirement and live-in facilities for the elderly have a poor reputation as far as the treatment of their residents. From my synopsis, there were no signs of mistreatment aside from a poorly decorated color scheme. All in all, I give the facility a 3 out 5 stars in comparison to some of the other facilities that I've visited.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Before she passed on, my grandmother was a resident of this facility. I recall walking in there to visit her after she had settled in, expecting the facility to look and feel like another part of some hospital. I had been with my mother while looking at other places, and they had given me that feeling. However, when I had entered Belmont Village, it really felt more like a nice club house for an apartment complex with its amenities and more of a "home" feeling. My grandma's room was also different from what we'd seen in other places, which made me feel better about having her there. The staff members could have been a little more polite, but I could tell that they took good care of my grandma, and that's what counted. We often asked her if everything was ok regarding her care, staff, and her comfort level. She never gave any sort of indication that she was ever mistreated or that there was a problem that would have made us want to remove her. I appreciated that knowledge more than anything, to know that she was safe and cared for.
