I am living in Plaza Del Sol in San Jose. It's independent, so it doesn't have any amenities that all the other facilities have. It's also a low-income one, so they adjust the rent based on your income. It's quite good. The grounds, the building, and everything else are kept clean. Other than the once-a-month potluck, they don't have a lot of activities, but then it's not meant to have them. They have their monthly activities, but they don't do a lot. However, you're not paying a lot of money here, so of course, you won't have the amenities like the other places. They don't have transportation or any of those things that the other places provide. The staff members are great, including the office manager and the woman who maintains anything that is broken. She comes and fixes stuff. You just have to tell them if your faucet's not working or anything like that, and they come and fix it right away. I have no complaints about that. We are not served food because there are no amenities here. You are on your own. It's really like an apartment complex, but a senior one. You have to be 55 or older to qualify to live here. I have a balcony, and I think most people here have one, so you can sit outside if you wish during the summer months to enjoy the sun. It's not huge, but it's perfect. Just one bedroom, a kitchen, and a living room area. For the money, it's really reasonable, and it's based on your income. If you make a lot of money, they're gonna charge you the maximum they can charge, but they can lower it if you're on a low income.
