I visited this facility

I toured Atria Collwood. I liked all of the programs that they had, the different levels of care that they offered, and the way it was structured. It was like an a la carte menu. They had it in such a way that it was very transparent like that. You could see what you were paying for, and the facility was really well kept up. It's a really nice facility and the people there all seemed really on top of everything. Everyone there was very friendly. One of the directors of something was really helpful. She took her time, showed me the different places, and answered a lot of questions which some of the places did, but she just did an exceptionally good job at that. I thought that's why I like that place so much.

My former husband was at Atria Collwood. It was very good and very clean. The people were very nice. They tried to do their best, but they weren't licensed to do some of the stuff that was needed for my former husband. Everybody was very caring. For the person staying, the food was very good. For the person that was just visiting, it was very bland, but of course, they have to take into consideration everybody. But everything was very nice. The facilities for parking and stuff were very easy. My former husband had a sunny room, which I think is pleasant. He had a window. The bathroom was comparable to assisted living. We were able to put everything in like pictures on the wall and his Juris Doctor degree. He was an attorney. They all knew him by the first name. I wasn't there at the end when my boys moved him out, but there was a lot of stuff going on. They had a nice library. They could enlarge the print and it is very nice to have that. They had people doing bingo all the time, they had puzzles, and they can work out. The people that work there were involved with the individuals on the different items that I just mentioned.

I know someone who lives in Atria Collwood, and I know that they care for their patients. What bothered me was the rate of increase that they charged, it was like up to ten percent, and there was no cap, so that's what scared me off from doing independent care. I'm not OK with putting somebody in a community, and then you're a victim to whatever rate rises that they want to do. So that's a big, big concern. They said we'd be provided food and we never were. If you say you're going to do it, do it. It was a bummer because we planned on it. The person I knew who lived there was well-treated, and the staff was amazing to her. But I don't like being told I'm going to get something and then I don't get it. It was 2020 and during COVID, so the costs were higher. But other places I talked to said three to eight percent, and the average is three percent to five percent, so that seemed just really high to me. The staff is really good and gets along with them well. Every time I went to visit my friend, they were always very kind. It doesn't have as much spaciousness as the other place I toured, but it had cool little spaces like puzzle spaces.

Atria Collwood was nice. The people were nice at the time. The layout was good. They had transportation and food. It was a good value. It was just at the time, that they weren't taking people because of COVID. They just had a change of management. The old management was lovely, and I only interacted with the new management once or twice and at the time, it was a little chaotic because they were changing.

I liked Atria Collwood. The rooms were huge. It was a smaller community. They had independent living and assisted living. The girl at the front desk was very helpful. She was where she needed to be, and she was wonderful. She was a good first person to come see. The place was a little bit older, and they didn't have as many openings as most of the other places. The girl said they were at 90% capacity at this point in time. They had two-levels. She showed me the dining room. They had an outdoor dining and grilling place, a little fitness area, courtyard, walking paths, places that residents could just go sit outside, and a library. The staff was very outgoing and very friendly. Everybody said hello, and that was one thing that impressed me. It seems like all the people that work there, all looked professional, neat, very friendly, outgoing, and had smiles on their faces. It just seemed like they enjoy the environment that they were in. I think it takes a special person to be able to work in that sort of environment. They had exercises, a library, and outdoor dining areas. There's a lot of places that you could go outside. The gal showed me a couple rooms that were actually very large and very comparable. The only thing that turned me off on them was she brought me to a room on the second floor and it had like an outside, almost like a common walkway. Anybody that lived on that side would have access to it. When I stepped out there, it looked like the railings needed painting. It looked like it wasn't used very much, and it needed a facelift. That was the only negative thing I would have to say about them.

Atria Collwood was small. It did not have a lot of courtyard/open space, it was limited, but the location was good. It was more in town, right in the urban area. The rooms were small too, but they were the least expensive. They had rooms starting at $1,800 or $1,900 a month. They had sit down dining services as opposed to a buffet, which looked nice, and daily activities for the people, happy hours every once in a while, and areas where people could exercise. They had some different facilities, so overall, I thought the money was reasonable.

Provider Response

Rafael, Thank you for visiting with us. We are looking forward to seeing you again in the future.

Atria Collwood was very nice, and well taken care of. The residents seemed like they were content there. The staff was very friendly. The gentleman that helped us was the director there. He was just fantastic. The place had a lot of nice amenities, and it would have been great had mother been able to go there. The dining area was very nice. It was very spacious. They're just getting back to pre-COVID things that they can do to get the people back in.

Provider Response

Giorgio, Thank you for sharing your experience. Our residents mean the world to us. Thank you for choosing Atria!

I visited this facility

I toured Atria Collwood. John, the person there, was supposed to get back to me, hopefully soon. They have a special on one of the studios. Because of my limited finances, he was going to get back to me and let me know if that was still available. I think it was $1,500-something. It suits me and it is in a good location. It's very clean and very nice. We've toured both the independent and the assisted, and I've got the information for both. The experience was very positive. The employees were very warm and inviting. I met some of the people living there; several people. All the rooms were very nice. The studio that I saw was very spacious. Even though it was a studio, it can accommodate a queen size bed. The bathrooms were very nice too. It was landscaped well. Fresh paint on everything with flowers. I mean, it was very inviting. John was the person who walked me through, and he was very kind, very patient, and took the time to explain anything and everything, and answered any questions that we had. He was very accommodating. The dining room can accommodate 50 percent of the people, and then 50 percent they take to the rooms to keep the social distance going, but it was very, very nice.

I went to Atria Collwood. It was really good, the person I dealt with, Joan, was excellent, the service was great, and it looked like they had a lot of activities going on. Their dining hall was pretty busy, it was a pretty nice area and the setup that they had there, they had a room that you can rent out for a birthday, before COVID you could, it's like a community room. Their customer service and hospitality was great. I think I left there with a homemade jar of salsa and a bottle of wine.

Provider Response

Hi Cheryl, We hope you enjoyed the salsa! Your feedback is so important to us, so thank you for sharing your experience!

Atria Collwood was very clean. I talked to the residents as well as the personnel, and they were very nice. The facility is really nice. I'm very happy that my mom is going in there. It's close to me, which is a good thing, too. I just liked everybody. Their attitude was absolutely wonderful. I've been to five other places and they were nice, but they're more helpful here at Atria. It has a bottom floor, and she will be in a studio, not a 1-bedroom.

My mother was in Atria for two years. They were great. Her room was nice and like a large master bedroom with a private bath and a sliding glass door to go out in the courtyard. I liked the food and ate there frequently. They always had bingo and took residents to Target and CVS, but my mother did not participate. They had exercise class. I liked the staff and the medtechs were good; they always called me when there was an issue.

Atria Collwood was a lovely place with a lovely staff. They picked my mom up to her van. The only problem was her inability to transfer. There was beautiful, peaceful garden. We would have to have a physical therapist come there, and they didn’t have facilities that the other facility was saw offers. The staff was wonderful. In fact, the nurse came and evaluated my mom several times, trying to see what modification they could make, but it was not a good fit.

My mother is in Atria. It is a nice facility. The workers seem to be very happy and helpful. The people who live there are very happy and very much like it. My mom does not take part in the activities, but they have a lot of activities for the rest of the people, like bingo, book club, painting, and arts and crafts. I will recommend it because it seems to be a very happy place. The food is good. The workers are highly dedicated, and the staff is very accommodating.

The room is fine and staff is excellent. Activity is adequate. She is not very happy with the food, and she is not very happy with the responsiveness of the staff. One thing Atria Collwood needs to improve on is the follow through.

The rooms at Atria Collwood were spacious, and the accommodation was very nice. The staff who toured us showed us everything. We were shown different rooms and areas, and it was very nice. They offered us a beautiful dessert that was just darling. The food smelled great. They do have activities, and people were allowed to have little garden areas. It was really nice.

The staff was very attentive at Atria Collwood. The room that I saw and the dining room seemed very nice. What impressed me the most was the executive director’s relationship with the residents. They seemed to adore the executive director. There was a very loving relationship between them.

The rooms there at Atria are small, but it is affordable. The staff is marvelous. I did not eat lunch there, but I really enjoyed my visit. They have a lot of activities going on like bingo. They have a beautiful library. It was just gorgeous. The people were very friendly. The dining room is nice, they gave me a menu to look at, and it was nice as well. I think the nicest thing about there is that you can get breakfast at 2 o'clock in the afternoon if you slept that day. They couldn't improve on the size of their rooms, but that would be nice if they could.

The prices were too much out of our range at Atria Collwood. It was a very nice place, and my mother would have liked it. It had a one-bedroom kind of like a studio with a bathroom in it, which was nice. The people seemed to be really friendly there. I really liked it, but I just can't afford it. We had just seen the library. They had a game room, a nice dining room, and a nice garden. The people that work there impressed me the most. They were very friendly, and they all would speak to us. I like the outgoing people that were there. I wish they were cheaper.

I am/was a resident of this facility

They put me in a facility called Atria. I've been here for 10 days, and I am learning how to live that way. One of the things that turned me on was the quality of the food and the cleanliness of the place. They have a brand new chef from the Culinary Institute of America, and I am impressed by him. I think that they're doing a great job. They also have a new executive director who has only been here a week. I have my own little studio, which I decorated with things from home. I've done the best I can with some slight pieces. We've made a little office here and a little sitting room. I have a garden and a picket fence. They have all the activities for people here. They have a library, an activity room, and a card room. They have a bistro where they have coffee, tea, sodas, sandwiches, and cookies all day and all night. The staff is excellent and very caring. They all wear badges that tell how many years they've been there, and it's 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. All I know is I sleep well. I would recommend this to everybody to look at. It's an excellent company. It has a great reputation, it is strong financially, and it's one that's worth thinking about.

I went and looked at Atria and it was great. The pricing was good. The staff was wonderful. Everybody really acted like they loved their job and they really acted like they like hanging out with those old people. They had some nice people there, all the way from the waitress staff to the cook. Even when we went to check out the facility, although the cook was off duty, they didn't even go home, they were just talking to each other and trying to plan tomorrow's menu. It was really refreshing. I knew that they would do everything for you, like they would do your laundry and they would feed you. I liked everything about it. They were the best and I would definitely put my mom there, except she came from a 5,000 square feet house and the rooms were 210 square feet. Speaking of the studio, it was one tiny hotel room and you can't even put an extra chair or a refrigerator in there. There was a little closet and a little dresser, but there was no kitchen. You had a bed and a shower. You could hang out with other people outside because there was a big area. That's my only complaint. However, if you wanted to buy a double room, it was $4,000 and you could have another sitting room, I guess, but if you were trying to stay within your means, you wouldn't want to do it double.

Atria was very nice looking, very homey, and smelled nice. The Atria experience for my mom was good; she was there for more than a month before she passed away. They allowed my mom in at a special rate. The medical attendant’s care was very good. They took care of my mom around the clock. They also moved her to a new room closest to the nurse station at no additional cost. They have a chef, so the food was very good, and the dining facility almost looks like a restaurant. Almost all of the rooms were studios, and they have one room with a closet and separate bath with shower only. There is another kind of room that has a living room suite and a bedroom, but they are the expensive ones.

Atria was extremely friendly, and the cleanliness was above average. The food was excellent. All their activities were easy to get to and fit into. It was easy to get around the place. She has a room with a bathroom and a closet. Her room on the ground floor walks right out to a large garden. My cousin chose Atria because when she walked in, the people living and working there talked to her, and this was what she needed. The staff is very accommodating. If you have questions, they walk you through it or talk to you, and if they don't have the time, they refer you to somebody else. My cousin is happy there.

Atria Collwood is where we decided to put my mother. We find it quite adequate. There seems to be a very good staff to resident ratio. It seems some of the staff almost live there. My mother's care seems to be quite professional. She's getting medical assistance in terms of taking the medications on time. She seems to be very good. My sister, who is involved in my mother's care, has no complaints whatsoever.

I like Atria Collwood the best. I visited the facility, and it appeared to be clean. I like the flexible dining schedule. The room sizes were large, and the parking was accessible. What I looked at there were two-bedroom studios that were connected by a door, and the other facilities that I saw didn’t have anything like that. That would be very suitable for my mother and father. The staff are very friendly. I like that they have flexible meal hours. Their dining is always open, and my parents like that.

The Atria Collwood is more of a home-like atmosphere, and they cater to all levels of care. They have a really nice dining room where the residents can order off a menu; they don't have to eat what's given to them. It's very clean, and the staff is just wonderful. They are very helpful, friendly, and unbelievably very nice to the patients. They're actually the best thing about this facility. My mom's been there for about a year and a half now.

I really liked this place for my grandma. The reason why I liked it is because she was happy and made a lot of friends there. The facility kept my grandma engaged- from their library to their social events- she always had something to do. The staff made a huge difference here too. They were always polite to me and my family. They were gentle with my grandma when ever she had problems. They were there to help when ever she needed it, it did not matter what it was! They took her cloth shopping, reminded her to take her medication, and helped her clean her apartment. My grand ma has become a bit of a picky eater, which really was not a problem here! Usually negative thoughts come to mind when one thinks of food at a hospital or retirement facility, but the food here was great and there were options for my picky grandma.

This is the nicer of a couple facilities I had seen recently, and it's also the more expensive of the two which is okay because the facilities are great - clean, modest, quiet. My grandmother was able to get a large room, larger than we expected so she was not going to feel cramped in a small room. The staff was really nice. There was more staff than I expected as well, and it's 24 hour so that was great. The place is near a college in San Diego which is a little worrisome for an elderly woman, but the neighborhood seemed quiet and manageable regardless of that detail. My grandmother seems to really enjoy the time she has spent here; she often talks about new friends and feels very connected to those around her and assisting her. She has also said the food is great! We are proud of our decision to have her reside in this assisted living center.

The Facility is a relief that i could have my mother live here,Rather than alone in her own home. The homey feeling of the facility really replaced the feeling of her old home. My mother quickly became friends with the staff they were like her second family. The events Really helped her get out and meet people, playing easy board games or cards was never really her thing. The biggest thing that i loved about this place was the fact she had a reasonable sized room,i bought her a treadmill and put it in the room for her to have nice simple workouts surely it came in handy. Artia Collwood is highly great for a down to nature kind of senior nice and quite place.
