I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom went to Windsor Care Center of Sacramento. They were understaffed and overworked. When they get a discharge date, they would do the bare minimum for the clients. My mom went there for rehab. Initially, they were taking better care of my mom. She got the discharge from her insurance. Once they got the discharge from the insurance, they almost couldn't be bothered with my mom. When they sent her home, she was sick, and I had to send her back to the hospital.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was in Windsor nursing home in Sacramento and broke her hip. It's terrible. We had a very bad experience. The staff was not caring and didn't pay much attention. The facility needed updating and the building needed improvement. It's also not a very good location. It's not an appropriate place for someone to be there, the treatment isn't appropriate.

Terrible communication by office staff and administration...no one seems to be able to answer questions...or choose to be evasive and non-forthcoming. Resident released with no supports in place, no ability to meet her own needs, and no follow-up by Windsor. No records provided which support a release to a much level lower of care. Administrator denies responsibility. Multiple phone messages and emails unanswered and cut off during conversations by incompetent staff, denying any knowledge or responsibility. I fear for any resident in this facility. Reported this facility to Department of Health Services...consider doing the same if you have concerns. Our loved ones deserve better.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I read all the other reviews and my sister has been at Windsor since June 2013. I am there twice a week to see her. I always see the staff interacting with the residents. The only time they don't is if there is an emergency. It is an older facility so it isn't shiny and new. There aren't TV's in the rooms because most of the residents only are in their rooms to sleep or to get changed. They do have tv in one of the dining rooms that is always on and music in another the main activities is were they have the intertainers that come, games and movies. They are provided snacks and drinks through out the day. My sister gets very good care there.

I visited this facility

I had to have my Grandmother put into a nursing home a couple of years ago and it was a nice facility, private rooms and was clean. I was very shocked today when I volunteered to drop off my wifes aunts husband today and saw how bad this facility seemed. First of all it was dirty. I have worked in healthcare since 1988 and this place reminded me of some of the places I have seen in other countries, it was dirty and crowded. Three people to a room, no TV's, it reminded me of pictures of the asylums you would see in old pictures from the 40's or 50's. I regretted volunteering taking him to this horrible place and if it was my choice I would have taken him home immediately and found a place that was nice, clean and updated. There are nice facilities out there, just shop around and you will find them. I would not recommend this place at all. My only hope is that he gets sent home and we can find him a place closer to home as this place is 45 miles from where he lives.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I have worked in the nursing field for 30 years and this place is the worst hole I have ever seen.My mother in law placed here by the doctor. All the clients are yelling fighting each other with their P.V.C. pipe wheelchairs, wandering around crying and lost and the staff just sit behind the nurses station and do not intervene or check on peoples welfare.human feces all over the backyard.Several residents looked dehydrated with cracked lips.Residents with greasy hair and unclean clothing. My mother in laws clothing and possessions disappeared within two days of arriving. You can feel the tension is the air with large groups of demented residents congregated in hallways instead of splitting them up into smaller more manageable groups.DO NOT PUT YOUR PERSON IN THIS HORRID PLACE!.The only person who appeared to actually care and interact with the residents was the activity director. Most of the staff are from other countries and can hardly speak english, further confusing the residents.I saw an aide harshly grab a gentlemen and bum rush him down the hallway.I could go on and on.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mom is a current resident at Windsor Care of Sacramento and the other reviewers have said they're one of the few facilities especially trained to take care of Alzheimer's patients. She has been there since March of 2013 and has received excellent care. Yes she wears clothes that don't necessarily belong to her but her clothes are clean and she is always well dressed and presentable. When I visited last July (I don't live in California) it was an unexpected visit and her hair was clean, her mouth as was her body and her clothing was decent. She was emaciated when she arrived there and they have ensured she receives proper nutrition. She now weighs 140 pounds and she's 5'7". When other family visit, she is participating in social activities and spends time enjoying the outdoors playing catch with an aide for exercise. Social Services calls me quarterly for a quick care conference and anytime her medication changes or if she falls I receive a phone call. Is this place perfect? No, but she does receive good care. She is safe, clean and happy. Someone even took the time to paint her fingernails for the holiday season! Back in the day, she never would be caught dead without a proper manicure so it means the world to me that someone took the time to do that for her. I am forever grateful that Windsor Care of Sacramento takes such good care of my mom.

I am a friend or relative of resident

Our mom has Alzheimer's & was a patient at Windsor for 2 years. It was one of the only Nursing homes in the area that specifically trained/designed for Alzheimer's patients so we didn't really have any options but we found the care to be below par & all our family were very emotional when ever we visited due to her care. On a daily basis we had to deal with missing clothing & bedding, clothing worn belonged to someone else (all her clothing was bought new & marked extremely well). Wet diapers, severe lack of hydration with dry cracked open lips, delays in care, Scabies & we were called at 11:30 PM to get the ok to give her antibiotics with the nurse stating "I can't give them without your permission" when this should be standard procedure. Cellulitis on her right foot we believe due to someone (staff or residents) running over her foot with the wheelchair. Had to request her foot to be elevated r/t 4+ pitting edema. We would NOT recommend Windsor to anyone!

I visited this facility

I thought the facility was an O.k. looking place on my first visit, It seemed kind of small and there was not as much outdoor space as I thought there would be, the staff was nice, but seemed as it was just a job and most of the older folks were sitting around doing nothing, but the staff said there were plenty of activities. The facilities seemed fairly clean, and meals looked to be pretty healthy with a good fruit mixture thru the day. The rooms were small but looked comfy and kind you kind of get the at home feeling. But it is not at home, and the hospital style floors with commercial lighting definitely seems it could make you feel trapped, I did not see anyone outside and that is my concern, they assured me though that they get plenty of time outside. Over all I think the place was just average and that the staff could seem like they enjoy helping rather than just showing up for that same old job. I would probably search a new place if I had to choose again.
