Dirty and run down. Food is gross. Employees could careless about the patients. Its quite disturbing how they treat residents. Everyone just works there for a pay check.

Found the staff to be the best thing about this facility. Extremely friendly. Some of the equipment needed to pick up patients from their beds seems to be a little antique (outdated) but otherwise OK. My wife is being treated well and is well liked by the staff (what a relief). The only negative i have concerns with is safety and security (there is none absolutely none - zip nada). Anyone can walk in off the streets and not be challenged as to who they are and what their reason is for being in the facility. this causes me great concern.

My mother was sent there from the hospital by mistake, this place first of all, there was a urine and other strong bad odor in the facility, the setting is kind of depressing; there is not too much light coming in, the hallways are dirty, the residents there did not looked happy at all, there was not a single one patient that smiled even, there was trash on the floor, the staff working on that specific day, did not even knowledge you when you first come in or asked if they could help you with anything, every one on their own little world, they have no customer service at all, then the admitting nurse did not look nothing like a nurse, her uniform was scrubs pants, with a spaghetti shirt, and a thin see through sweater, I don't understand how she can be taken serious when she is wearing such outfit, she is not professional at all. My mom is in a three bedroom, she is unable to use her hands at this time, because they are both fractured, the aid brought in her dinner tray took off the top and left the room, knowing she is a feeder, then when I approached the admitting nurse about sending my mom's inquiry to another facility because my mom had requested, she got defensive and asked why we wanted her transferred from there, that they are a five star facility and she was in a great room, with a great team to care for her, she then stated has lots of work to do and was not her job to send inquiries, I then offered to take the paperwork myself to the facility, she then assured me would take care of it right away, next day she still had not sent the inquiry, I contacted the social services liaison, to request to have her sent the inquiry, she had an attitude stated this is the first time she heard about it, and that she will still need to speak to my mother to confirm she wants to be moved, she did not even mention "I will call you back with outcome or anything", this place is definitely not a five star as far as I know. Do not sent your loved one here if you want them to actually get better, how are they able to guess my mom is supposed to be there for 90 days if they had not even assessed by a physical therapist, they seem to only want to use up their medicare days only, that is all.

Extended Care Hospital Of Riverside is nice and the staff is nice, too. Mom's room is clean and there are three residents in it. They have a TV room and a large area to walk around outside. Mom had been here before and we liked it, so that's why we brought her back.

I read a lot of negative reviews before my father was admitted after a brain injury. I was worried but in visiting the place, and visiting my father a few times, I did not notice anything that was a cause of concern. I can't testify to the food quality, but the staff is very friendly and attentive. Every time I visited my father, a nurse, or physical therapist, or aide adding ice water or even doctor was there doing their job. I will admit, such a place is scary to be in, as many people who are rehabilitating may be close to death. Such a place can be difficult to walk through, or be in, but that is why friendliness and comfort is so important. Fortunately, my father is now safely back home. Parking is difficult the first time, but the second, third, etc. was easy because once you know that the lot is in the back of the building, (turn right, before the building itself down the alley) it's easier. It can be tough to navigate the parking lot because there is no outlet on the other side, and parking can be pretty full. If you are visiting, I recommend visiting later than early morning where it will be quite busy.

My dad was in herein May 2012. He was recovering from a terrible experience and was there to get strength. While he was there they gave him the wrong medicines, they had him drink albuterol while putting another liquid I. The breathing machine. When it was brought to their attention, it was no big deal to anyone. At one point my relatives went to see him the employees said they would bring him right out that they were going to give him a shower. About 15 minutes later they brought him into the room where my relatives were, pushing the wheelchair towards them and leaving the room quickly. When they saw him he had a large "goose egg" on his forehead. When they were questioned they said a couple different stories. One was they didn't know, another was that he got up and walked across the door and into the door. He was not strong enough to get up let alone walk. They did not realize that he actually remembered everything that happened. Several times he was put in the shower told to stand there and they squirted him and he lost his footing fell into the wall.that employee ran to get another one. Now two Employees, minimum, we're not telling the truth.. It took them about 6 hours to call the paramedics to send him to get a cat scan. Completely irresponsible! Terrible terrible place to have anyone you love! Needless to say he did not return. I called them to get answers and they refused to call back.
