I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

they are UNDERSTAFFED and the manager treats their staff terrible. they have a high turn over rate for a reason. if you love your family members do not send them here. this is not a good place for anyone.

The rooms were okay and neat. The caregiver was fine but the staff was poor. The lady boss I saw doesn't even interact with another patient. Very poor management from the staff. The activities we're fine but too much for people that don't know anything anymore. They enjoy walking and listening to old music and performances like before but now since there is new management they don't do it anymore. That is why it is so poor today.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend is happy at the Melrose Gardens, and so we're happy. The memory care is restrictive in structure, but if you're having problems with dementia, I think that's the best place for you, because they might give you more care. He seems to be finding his way through that. We're all happy he's finding some peace there, and he has a great roommate. The general facility is really attractive. The food is OK; it isn't spectacular, but it's adequate. The residents just watch TV, and I'm not happy with that. They just sit in front of the TV and don't pay attention to it.

I visited this facility

I liked Melrose Gardens & The Cottages. I put a deposit down there. I liked the staff and the rooms. They seemed friendly and knowledgeable. The list of activities looked like the right list to help my parents with cognitive stimulation and socialization. It's a good location for the family. The dining area was a little small, but the facility was small. I saw a sit-down exercise program when I was there.

I visited this facility

Melrose Gardens was really nice. The staff seemed to be very professional and caring. The rooms and apartments looked pretty clean and nice. The food was good, and the dining room was nice. They had a wellness trainer, and one thing unique about them was that they actually have light weight training for the people.

I visited this facility

This looked like a lovely facility on a tree lined street in a relatively safe neighborhood. I know that this neighborhood can get noisy at night. Parking was extremely difficult near the facility and I had to eventually park two blocks away. The rooms were generous in size and were well maintained. The common rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. Everyone who worked there seemed to have about the same level of commitment and expertise as most facilities I have visited. One thing that stood out to me was that the schedule of activities seemed to be provided to only satisfy the requirement of having one. In other words, I didn't feel confident that the activities actually took place. Nothing was going on at the time I toured and and I am always a bit leery when "board games" are listed as an activity. The price was a bit less than other places in the area so I seriously considered moving my family member here figuring that I could provide the activities for her. Ultimately though, I chose another solution.
