I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The one star is for the Handful of good people on this place. My husband has been at this facility for 5 years now so I am definitely speaking from experience. When you chose a facility for your loved one make sure to do your proper investigation such as inspection history, CDPH complaint historíes and and public reviews. Unfortunately I was not able to do this because at the time I had no choice and the reason I have stayed this long is only because I visit everyday and stay for long hours to make sure he is really being cared for and even while I did this there’s much to complain about. This facility lacks stability when it comes to administration. Since we’ve been here there’s been numerous administrators (10) social workers, DSD, DON. They are only here for a few months then gone, and because of this complaints are never being resolved. The accountability is literally non existent. So everyone does as they choose. Belongings are constantly getting lost and no one is accountable and management will not reimburse or care to investigate why this is. In their website they state that they offer cable television and wireless internet. If having three channels working on an old television is what they call cable television then they do offer it. This is clearly a joke, I’ve been asking to change out the tv in my husbands room for nearly three years. Before the pandemic began I offered to buy a tv and all they Had to do is mount it and to this day they have not. So if you want your loved one to lay in bed and stare at a non working tv 24/7 then this is your place. (Imagine during a pandemic while isolated, depressed, anxious and not having a tv to at least keep your mind occupied.. smh) As far as internet goes that is a joke also. During pandemic when FaceTime was the only thing we had we didn’t. We always had poor connection and if we were able to get a connection it was only for a few minutes and that is even if we were able to get through. This place had a huge issue with picking up the phone. There was days that it would take me up to 3 hours to get through. So this is another big negative. They have phones in every nurses station but no one has the ability to pick up calls. This is extremely sad! As far as comfortable goes this place does not offer air conditioning that works. This was my first complaint when I first got here and 5 years later I’m still complaining about it. You have patients spiking fevers because the rooms are 90 degrees at times and other times the are literally freezing. This was my biggest worry when I was locked out and with good reasons. Now that I am allowed back in I realize that the a/c is still a problem. This is why my husband suffered hypothermia twice during the lockout. Honestly this is a huge problem. Every time I walk in there I feel like I am in a different part of the world one day it’s freezing and it feels like I am somewhere in the east coast and the next day it is so hot I feel like I’m in Death Valley. I have complained millions of times and they still can’t get it right. If you can honestly call this being comfortable then you are at the right place. This place is also always short staffed. I don’t believe having 20 patients to one CNA is ok. Do the math and figure out how many times that CNA will change and reposition your loved one. This is also why simply things like oral care and grooming are not being done and this is so important to patients well being. They also only provide one RT for 20 patients during the Night Shift. It has been like this for 2 years since pandemic began. This is so scary not only for patients but for the RT working. Why would they put patients lives in danger like that. Money is everything and humanity is nothing!

Basic neglect, no cameras, no security, phone service poor, professionalism lacking, little or no contact with doctors, dirty and smelly, toilets often not working , confusion by staff of the rules.

My Dad ( was 32A now 17B)) was admitted late January 2017. At first, I felt the facility was not going to treat or meet the care of my Dad with the necessary attention he needs. My immeadiate intentions were to remove my Dad from Fountain View once an opportunity would open up. But you'd be surprised what lovely people work there. The Nurses just attend to administering medications but are very polite and answer ALL questions. The respiratory techs are incredibly awesome and on every hour to suction patients. My admiration esp. goes to all the CNA 's.... WOW! I go visit my father just about everyday at different times and the care provided by those CNA's is exceptional. Day in and day out all nurses and techs are friendly with positive aditude . The vocation of caring and the service provided is extraordinarily. Who cares if the facility is a bit outdated! The CARE given to patients is what's important ...... I'm truly impressed and Thankful to all Fountain View Nurses, techs and CNA's for the support and empathy my father and I have received by them!

The place was aright , not that great but I won't recommend to anyone especially they charge the room so high rate the food not good , the room is dirty at times, the administrator is not available to be reach out when in needs . Business Office Manager is always busy to Share of Coast of my father. So I decided to transferred my father to better place .

Fountain View was OK. The main doctor was fine. I didn't get any response from the people there until it was too late. My husband was not satisfied at all. I thought it could have been better; it could have more beauteous surroundings. Some of the staff was OK, but he didn't like it. He was in a room with another man, it was cramped -- but I expected that -- and I guess the physical setting was OK -- medium, not great. I was not satisfied because I think that they kept him too long in the facility, and he should have gone back to the hospital sooner.

I visited this facility

Whatever you do, make sure your loved one does NOT end up in this place. It is where Kaiser Hospital sends it's patients for care after surgery, and also has some long term residents. My longtime friend and neighbor ended up here to recover from a broken hip surgery. The care was neglectful. The place was smelly and dirty. The sheets were stained with holes. The rooms were dingy with no daylight, 4 beds stuffed into one room, a small flourescent light above the bed, a shared bathroom with a smelly dirty toilet and sink. The place is run by a staff of very young people who are noisy and do not attend to patients well. I was just shocked by this place. It's not the first nursing home I've been to; some are clean and well attended. Here is where my friend got a bedsore within 7 days. They never moved her. The "physical therapist" who came in (I arrived early during his visit) did nothing but wiggle her toes and leave. The staff did not make sure she drank any water (glass left sitting from morning, untouched). They did not make sure she ate; just brought tray in and left. My friend ended up back in the hospital with a staph infection. Wow, what a surprise. I made sure she was not returned to this place. They should be cited and removed from service. I can't believe Kaiser actually sends people there.

I found the food portions on the skimpy side. I was frequently hungry. They gave me more when I asked for it, but I did have to ask. I never did get the TV to work properly. There were no magazines, newspapers, or any other entertainment. My main gripe about the place was it was always as cold as a meat locker! I did complain this. The staff I spoke to seemed concerned, but the thermostat was locked. They offered me more blankets, but my body was so weak from my heart attack that it couldn't generate much heat. Blankets did me little good.
