I toured The Montera and I was very impressed with the community itself, their reception of me, and their willingness to talk about anything. They took me around the facility. We toured the dining room and all of the social areas outside. Connie showed me a couple of different floor plans. She couldn't show me all of the floor plans. They didn't have vacancies in some of the styles, but I was very impressed and we're planning to go back to have lunch there on Thursday. We looked at a one bedroom and that was huge. We looked at a studio as well. We're looking for one that has a kitchen and a sink so that my dad can make coffee. We only looked at one that had a sink and that was the one bedroom, although they have some other floor plans that have that feature. We're very interested in possibly taking him later because I think they'd be suitable for him. Connie was wonderful and very personable. She knew the names of everybody that we saw and all the residents we saw as we were touring the facility. The menu looked great. I wanted to go back for dinner because they were having butternut squash ravioli, which is one of my favorite things.

We considered the Montera. The only reason we didn't choose it was because when I told them that my husband and I are still independent ( although my husband has been diagnosed with mild dementia), they wanted us to pay an additional $600 for his medical dispensation. I do all the ordering and I take care of that because I'm still able, so I think that was a high price for something that's very minimal work. The building was well-kept. It is not new, but it's very clean, and the residents are very courteous and friendly, even the staff. I even got close to Connie, who was my contact person, and explained to her that it just seemed the $600 price was too steep for dispersing his medication. We are not rich and we are relying on our retirement. We tried their meals and it was good. We had spaghetti during lunchtime and even got a dessert.

We had an in-person tour of The Montera. The staff was nice and friendly. We had lunch there, and the food was great. My mom enjoyed her lunch. We also like the location. It was a little closer to where my mom lives now. There were multiple buildings, so for my mom to get to the dining hall or whatever, she would have to exit one building and go to another, and we were just concerned. My mom was kind of intimidated by that aspect. The staff was great. She followed up a couple of times before we made our final decision. She had a wealth of knowledge about the property, and she was very informative during our tour. They had activities. They had a nice outdoor area with a pond where the residents could go and have a quiet time and things like that, so that was a good addition.

The Montera was honestly way better than I was expecting for any sort of assisted living. I was very impressed with the facility and the happiness of the people that were living there. The residents liked the food that they were being given, the activities, the accommodations in general, and how it was managed overall. I got a really good impression from them. The staff was great, super accommodating, and very good with follow-up as well. The rooms vary in size, but I thought they were worth the price. I thought some of the rooms were on the smaller side, but for somebody like my mom, who probably doesn't need much space since she has mobility issues, it wasn't a concern for us. I didn't try the food other than the complimentary cookies that they gave us, which were amazing. I asked some of the residents about the food, and they had nothing but great things to say about it. I toured their common space, where they had computers set up. They mentioned that they sometimes do a little bit of wine tasting. They showed their gym activities. They also had a pool with a handicapped-accessible entry.

We went to The Montera. It's a very nice facility. It's been upgraded recently. It has a beautiful koi pond area for people to sit and watch the fish. The people are very nice. It's laid out nicely. I think everything was pretty good. The staff were very kind. They showed us around. We talked about lots of different things. They're very knowledgeable, too. They had a very large theater. They had an exercise room. The koi pond was beautiful; that was comforting to see. It was very clean. It was open. There were lots of places to walk outdoors that were safe.

I toured The Montera. It was very good. I'm definitely considering that if it comes down to that. The rooms were really good. They looked good. The one I happened to be in was just being redone, but it looked like just what we were looking for. We went through the dining area and stuff. It was quite nice. Everybody was quite friendly. The overall condition of the facility was really good. It looked excellent. They had a TV room and a library sort of thing, and that's really all we need. My wife would like to have an indoor pool. They have a pool, but it's outdoors.
