We toured Brookdale Sunwest. The appearance was really positive. The neighborhood was not so great though. It's a little rundown part of the city. However, when you step through their gates, we were really pleasantly surprised because things are well kept, and it looks much more desirable than what we would think from the surrounding neighborhood. The staff member who toured us around was extremely pleasant, helpful, not pushy, very warm, and very accommodating. It was Valentine's Day, and they gave us a free lunch. We sat in the dining room and met some of the residents, and that was a very positive experience because we could talk one-on-one with the residents without anyone else around. We liked the food a lot. It wasn't five-star dining, but we really liked it. It was kind of like comfort food. It was the kind of food you would probably fix yourself at home. It was like homestyle cooking. I like the food a lot. The server was fantastic. She was warm, accommodating, and it made you feel really comfortable.

My mother lives in Brookdale Sunwest. It's a community, but she doesn't have people around her. She's in independent living at the moment. She's been there seven years, so it's fine. All they do is provide food. They clean every other week. Other than that, they don't have much to do with the people. My mom has a two-bedroom villa, so she has a garage, a patio, two-bedroom, two-bath. She has her own place. They have a cafeteria and community room. They cook and she pays for the food. They have a pool, a library, a hairdresser, and activities. It's a lovely place. It's expensive, none of them are cheap, but it's a nice place. Everybody's friendly.

I visited Brookdale Sunwest a year and a half ago and it was really nice. They were having some simple physical exercises for people that were in wheelchairs, like tossing a beach ball in and handing stuff to each other. That was pretty neat. They were taking care of the people and keeping them busy. The place was very clean, too. My only concern was that it was a bachelor apartment and it was very pricey. The people we met were very nice. In fact, I live in a 55 plus community, and a couple here is moving there. They're very active seniors and they liked it so much that they're moving there, which was nice. We went to the memory care area and it was real nice and inviting. When you walk in, it's kind of like you're in your home. It's a very nice atmosphere. The woman that gave the tour was great. She was very informative, very cordial, and very professional. I liked her.

I went to Brookdale Sunwest for a tour. I liked their main gathering area. There was just a kind of warmth to it. What I liked the best about them was in their rooms, you had actual kitchens. It was set up a little bit more like an independent apartment. You could fix yourself something there. They had a lot of stuff going on, a lot of things for their residents and I liked that. I saw a sheet of things that they were offering and I thought they sounded fun. Of the three I visited, it was my first choice for my father. The food was good. You get two meals there. It's a little old in some places, but relatively clean.

I moved into Brookdale Sunwest a week ago. So far, I've been happy here. The food has been good. They provide 2 meals a day. The place is very clean and well laid out. I think I'll do very well here. My apartment is small but very comfortable and well-appointed. I have a living room, a kitchenette, a bathroom, a large closet, and a bedroom. I have no complaints about the staff here. We have activities and trips. There's a beauty shop/barbershop combination. Once a month, a podiatrist comes in and we can make an appointment with them.
