I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom has been at Park Folsom for one year now. I like that she doesn't have to check in every day, but they don't have many activities and that is the part I don't like. She has a 1-bedroom apartment. It's a little small but it's doable. The staff has been very, very nice. They are very good people. It's a very old building, so I guess you can only do so much with the upkeep. They serve breakfast and lunch. They have bingo, and they also have a van or a bus that takes them to the doctors and shopping to the store, or the banks. They have a library, too.

I visited this facility

I looked at a studio at Park Folsom. I liked everything about it. I didn't find anything about it that I didn't like. It was clean and homey. There's nothing special about the room, but it was a nice and clean studio. The staff during the tour was very nice and very helpful. The dining area was nice. The activities looked like it was going to be fun for me because they did have bingo and I like bingo. I think they had movies. You could sit outside and they had patios outside. The staff was very friendly.

I visited this facility

I went to look at Park Folsom. They don't have a pool or covered parking, but they cover most other expenses. The facility is one-story. The staff seemed very client-oriented. They offer two meals per day, which is a major plus. They have a studio, a deluxe studio, and a one-bedroom. They don't have some amenities, but they have sort of a warm atmosphere there. They have activities. The staff was very pleasant, nice, answered all my questions, and helpful.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father is in Park Folsom. It's an older facility that serves its purposes. The rents are affordable. The two meals a day they serve are middle quality. They have cards, bingo, religious services, and trips to medical appointments and grocery stores from their van. They have a maintenance person on site. They have a movie room and exercise class. The rooms are older, but their floor plans suit a variety of needs. The stovetops are kind of outdated, but the bathrooms have the appropriate assist bars or handles. They're generally functional. They have to improve the quality of the stovetops, and the closet doors frequently come off of the track. The staff is courteous and responsive to the residents' needs.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Hi to those that are reading about Park Folsom. My mother just recently passed and this was the first time I ever saw this place, impressive! My mother was very pleased being here at Park Folsom. The staff are wonderful as well as the residents that came by to give me their condolences regarding my mother. It really warmed my heart knowing that she was safe, felt loved and appreciated by many, and she felt very comfortable being here. She rarely had any complaints (I did her rating based on what she has told me over the phone) about this place. She enjoyed the different activities when she joined in them. Her most favorite part was the opening of a library and friends she made! My mom did like the small size room even with all the stuff she had, unfortunately, she didn't have documents that I need to deal with her important things. She did fill up the room with a lot of her favorite furniture and I hope that all or most could be recycled instead of tossed since she did have some nice furniture that would not fit in my trailer. After seeing what my mom was living like, I wish she did allow housekeeping. My mother was a very proud woman who was embarrassed with her health issues and kept things hidden that should have been tossed away instead. As much independence residents have here, I wish my mom didn't keep to herself as much. I found out that she didn't want to bother her only living child with her own mental, emotional, and physical health issues due to me dealing with my own. I have to rely on others to drive me and if I got the chance to see her much earlier, then I would have gotten a better understanding of her situation and place, plus find out more information about how she dealt with her things and get any information from her prior to her passing. I am completely at a loss without documentations and not having complete closure with my loss. I did know that she was ready to go and passed on her anniversary with dad according to what the Coroner put down for her death certificate. She didn't want me to visit when I was able to get a ride there and out of respect, I didn't and I so wish that I did even though she didn't want me to visit her. I feel beyond guilty because of how things were inside her room that I could have helped her with and I live about eight or so hours away from her. I am very appreciative to my caregiver and sister (mom's step daughter) for helping me with my mom's things as well as the owner, managers, maintenance, housekeeping, cook, plus others that I have missed besides some of the wonderful residents that I met when I was there. I am still saddened about the loss of my mother but I am so glad to hear that she was very helpful and liked at Park Folsom, which warms my heart. From working with geriatrics at my local area independent senior living facility and special kids and adults before my health issues gotten worse, I am impressed on how Park Folsom looked and how clean they keep their facility. Everyone was very helpful and understanding. I do recommend this place for those that need a place to live at. I am very grateful to all! Thank you again! ~Lydia, Irene's daughter.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm living in Park Folsom. It's comfortable, clean, the food is okay, and the people are very nice. They don't have too many activities because of the pandemic. It's great because it isn't so expensive. It's not like the other ones I've looked at that rates $3000 a month and more. The staff is very nice, dedicated, works hard and good cleaners. The place is convenient, clean, and very well-kept.

My father-in-law seems happy at Park Folsom, so I'm happy. It's not as fancy as other places, but it's nice, clean and homey. The staff provides breakfast and lunch, which my father-in-law seems to enjoy. The dining area is very nice and the food is good. They don't offer as many choices, but it works for my father-in-law. It's centrally-located and there are a lot of places he can walk to. They also have pool tables, all kinds of facilities, they take them to shopping, and they go on trips. He also likes the staff really well. The price is very reasonable.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The staff who work with the clients are kind people, but the owner of this establishment is not what you would hope for or expect. She took it upon herself to order something for my mother in laws room. It arrived around the same time my MIL was hospitalized and later passed away. Instead of her communicating with us directly which you would expect in this situation she did nothing. Even after my MIL passed and she saw me in the office and every day at the facility for the next week cleaning out her room she never informed me it was there and she would be charging her for something she never received or used. Logic would presume you would send it back or refuse delivery. We only found out she charged her for ½ of the of it because she took it off of the cleaning deposit we had mailed to us. The invoice stated because the item was “here” she had to charge her for it. Totally ridiculous and very unprofessional!!! Again, she could have very easily returned/refused the product, but again instead she charged her so she could use it for her facility and only had to pay ½ (unless she used it for another client which after speaking to other is probably exactly what she did!) We also had to chuckle as she also took off a rug cleaning charge which was ridiculous since the carpet already had stains before she moved in and we had to clean the carpet before she moved in just 6 weeks prior. My MIL was told rent was not to be turned in earlier than the 1st of every month but they collected a check from her before that time (5 days) as she couldn’t have given them a check on the first of the month because she was hospitalized on the 28th passed away at the end of the previous month; we’re guessing on the day she was hospitalized. I am truly disappointed that facilities can take advantage of elderly people and families like this. Please do yourselves a favor and look for another facility for your loved one or yourself.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I've lived here since September 1, 2017. Park Folsom exceeded my expectations. I wanted to still have private transportation and vacation money left over after I paid independent living rent and choosing Park Folsom gives me that. The bonus is the that the caregivers really do care about the well being of the residents. The two meals at day provided are breakfast and noon meals. They are nutritious and satisfying. For my night meal, I choose not to cook and have tossed vegetable salad and salad dressing, a fresh fruit, cheese stick, and lunchmeat sandwich. The refrigerator provided is full sized, and there are two electric stovetop burners that I use. Because I choose not to cook, I choose not to have a microwave, and eat my night meal on my kitchenette counter, sitting on a bar stool. My total studio apartment area is 341 sq. ft.. My open area that I call my living room area/multipurpose area is a square of 36 sq. ft. Right now it has my unfolded card table and set-up ironing board for my sewing project. This is the furniture that is around the perimeter of this rectangular studio apartment.: couch against back picture window, bedroom dresser and queen-sized bed on one side, games cabinet, printer table, kitchen table that is now my multi-purpose table and holds my desk top computer, phone, and sewing machine. Fitted in also are two end tables and a small office supplies table.

I visited this facility

Park Folsom was old. The apartments were dated and some of them were not in very good condition, like there were scuffs and scrapes on the cabinet doors, multiple layers of paint, and the carpets didn’t look that clean. They served two meals, and the staff was friendly. They do have a laundry service that takes care of towels and the sheets, and they have a washer and dryer in a couple of places in the building that are available to the residents at no cost. They had pull cords and intercoms, and they would check on you if you didn’t show up for breakfast or lunch. They have a dining room, a library, and a craft room for games and things like that. They have a bus that would take the residents to appointments and weekly shopping trips, which was all included in the rent.

I visited this facility

We found Park Folsom for my father. He hasn't moved in yet, but what I like best about this community was that the people were really friendly and that it was affordable. They have two meals a day. When we visited this facility, the residents that we talked to were really friendly, and they spoke highly of the place. A lot of them have lived there a long time. Regarding my father's room, he will have his own studio with a kitchen. With regards to sanitation, the facility seemed very clean. It is an older facility, and it is not really modern or anything, but my father doesn’t need all the modern amenities. It was a lot more affordable than the other places.

I visited this facility

I would like to go to Park Folsom. The room is a studio, which is 16 x 13.6. It has a very nice sliding glass door out to a patio, which makes it very bright. It has a kitchenette and a very good closet. In terms of service, it is about the same as you would find anywhere else. They have two meals a day. They make your bed and clean up every week. I would recommend it. It is very well kept. It is one of the most reasonably priced places.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mom lives at Park Folsom. She has her own apartment. They provide housekeeping for their residents. They have a dining room. They have their own free activities. The place is extremely clean. Everybody is like one giant family and they were calling on a first name basis. They provide two meals a day; breakfast and lunch. My mom is a picky eater, but she really likes the food there so that's a good thing.
