Oakmont of Escondido Hills was very nice. The coordinator was very helpful. She was a wealth of information. It was the top two that I really, really liked. The staff gave some tips and points on what to look for in an assisted living place and stuff like that. She was really nice and open about things. The rooms were really nice. It exceeded my expectations for an assisted living place. It was very clean. The place was immaculate. The food was great. The dining area was very clean. The staff was very attentive. It was like restaurant-style.

I went to Oakmont of Escondido Hills. It was a great experience. The people there were very, very nice. The room was beautiful. They had lots of activities. The dining room was beautiful. The outside area was very well kept and nice. I think my mom would have been very happy there. I was very impressed with the place.

My tour of Oakmont of Escondido Hills was thorough. The place is immaculate. It's kind of old-style, California-Spanish architecture with a large courtyard. The residents were super happy and friendly. Our tour guide, Mercedes, was extremely professional, warm, and caring. She cared about where my mom would end up, not necessarily just Oakmont, but cared about the client and the residents. It was a really happy place. The staff was attentive. The food was amazing. It's in a suburban area. There's a big garden-like Spanish courtyard. A lot of the rooms open up into the courtyard, and there's a nice space for entertaining and just enjoying the garden. It's very peaceful. While it's close to the freeway, it doesn't feel like it. It's a very peaceful and suburban area.

I saw Oakmont of Escondido Hills. It was a really good tour, super detailed, informative, so it was really helpful. The staff member was excellent. He was very thorough and gave a lot of good information. It was really good. They have a pool, and a gym where they can do physical therapy, or the residents can just use the equipment. They have activities rooms they have, multiple kinds of seating areas throughout. They provide laundry service, but for residents, if they prefer they can also do their own. They do little field trips locally to Trader Joe's or wherever. Some of the residents have pets. I saw a few dogs. They sent us home with an apple pie, it was very good.

We went to tour Oakmont of Escondido Hills. I visited independent living, two different apartments, and the entire grounds. The place was very clean. The employees seemed very happy as long-term employees. It spoke to me volumes that the employees are satisfied with their working conditions and what they need to do to take care of their clients. The rooms were nice, bright, remodeled, clean, accessible, and safe. The person who gave me the tour was amazing. She actually called to check up on my mom several times. She knows where we're at with our decision making in moving her. The dining area was nice, clean, airy, and open. Actually, my mom had friends that were living there. In the past, she had gone there a couple of times to eat with her friends. She enjoyed the food. They have an outdoor patio where they do a happy hour once or twice a week with live music and an open barbecue. Another thing I liked about it was the memory care clients were in a different area, so they were separated. They do a great assessment on those people with memory care issues and try to integrate them into as normal an environment as possible. There may be times when the groups are mixed within reason of the memory care patients' ability to not get disoriented or impacted by mixing in a different environment, so I thought that was good.

We chose Oakmont of Escondido Hills for mom and proximity was the biggest thing. They were about five minutes from my house. The second thing was the level of care. She only needs a very small amount of care because she's young and she's showing signs of dementia. They offer senior living (where it's just unassisted care) with access to the cafeteria and other facilities up to memory care and kind of everything in between. As she gets worse, they'll increase the level of care until she gets to the point where she qualifies for memory care and they'll move her to that section of the building. There are quite a few residents there, so she'll have an opportunity to engage with and interact with a bunch of different people instead of just a small amount at a smaller facility. Because she's so young and because she's still capable, we wanted a place where there's a lot of residents, somewhere close by, somewhere that had a progressive level of care that would increase as she needs it, and then also with the ability for her to be removed and visit us as needed or desired. Those are kind of our basic things and this place met all those things, plus proximity, which makes it very easy for all of us to go visit her. They have really good reviews and they have a nice facility. Nobody's perfect, but they did a good job. There's plenty of people there, and they were all very welcoming and supportive. There's a lot of amenities there. They had barber service, they had a dentist and doctors that show up, and they have a theater. They've got a bunch of staff there that are supporting all that, so it seemed like it was sufficient. The ratio of people was good. They do one large thing every month, like a big luau or party or some kind of event for the whole compound at the senior living as well as the assisted living. They've got multiple activities daily. They've got field trips, people coming in for history lessons and different presentations, they've got bingo and game card nights, a movie theater, a gym, and a pool. It's a lot of money, but it seems to be similar to what other parts of the country are. I feel like they offer quite a bit as compared to some of the other facilities that are a little bit smaller that are charging similar amounts.

The staff at Oakmont of Escondido Hills was very professional, compassionate, and very thorough. I chose not to eat, but they offered. They went over the menu and selections and it looked really appetizing. It was very clean. The dining area was pretty elegant. The residents were out and about, very friendly, and seemed very pleasant. It's a beautiful facility.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I'm now in Oakmont of Escondido Hills. It's really good. I don't have any complaints. The staff members have been very helpful, and they seem very kind, and caring, too. It's a nice place. I'm in a two-bedroom, which is very nice. They come in and clean it once a week, they do my wash twice a week, and they make my bed and empty my trash. They do a good job. Every day they have games and bingo, there's a pool table, and a swimming pool, and there are people coming in who sing and have get-togethers like that, but we haven't had much of that since we have been locked down. They have lots of activities.

Oakmont of Escondido Hills was a lovely community. They seemed to have a lot of services, and they were able to fit their clients through every level of care. They were able to take good care of them, not only physically but recreationally. They had in-house speech therapy and occupational therapy, but what I liked the most was the variety of living scenarios for the individuals. You could go from an independent living casita with your own garage to full-time care. I've never been to another place where people can have their own middle home with their garage on campus, to 2-bedroom apartments, 1-bedroom apartments, studio apartments, shared apartment, assisted living, and to a nursing home care. The staff also seemed knowledgeable and kind. It seemed pricey, but all of these communities are. We went there on a holiday and saw the staff interacting with a client with a balloon and a racket, and I thought it was great. The halls weren't just quiet halls or doors closed, there was interaction between the staff and the resident, whether they needed physical therapy, range of motion, or some kind of stimulation. Seeing them working with the residents in the hall was awesome.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend has been in Oakmont of Escondido Hills for two weeks now. It's been pretty good, but he's having some difficulty settling in, which is common for people, so it's going pretty well, I guess. The room is small, but it's nice. The staff is wonderful, and they work with me regularly. He has hospice care, too, and the hospice staff is really good. It's a small facility, so it's kind of cozy. They have extensive grounds. I think they have 4 acres outside and with courtyards for both the memory care unit and for their regular facility. They also have casitas for independent living people, so it's a complete community. They have an award-winning dining program there that is very popular with family and friends. I haven't had the food myself, but I'm told it was really good. They have a movie theater and they have movies twice a day, in the afternoon and in the evening. They have an activity director in the memory care area, and I'm interacting with this person. They have kind of interactive driving and flying, like a video game, for the people plus the usual Bingo and other kinds of things that you will find for the senior residents. If the residents prefer it, they have some one-on-one activities. They're actually a really good facility and really good to work with. The staff is wonderful. They just replaced the carpet there, but the facility itself is very clean and very elegant. It is older, it's not brand new, but it still has the looks of a boutique hotel. I haven't been really participating in any activities, but the activity director is really, really good.

I was rather depressed with Oakmont of Escondido Hills because there were so many wheelchairs and walkers outside the dining room and that turned me off. I didn't know in the beginning that I would be looking at more of assisted care people rather than independent. The food was excellent and very good though. The rooms seemed to be a little bit bigger and a little bit newer-looking. Everyone there has been very nice and friendly to me and my son.

My visit at Oakmont of Escondido Hills was fine. The people were friendly and welcoming, they showed us around, and answered all my questions. The rooms are very nice, they're just at the higher end of our budget. The place looked nice and was kept up nicely. They showed us the library, they have a place to watch movies, dining facilities, and they have a swimming pool too. The staff member was nice, friendly, and prompt.

I absolutely loved Oakmont of Escondido Hills. Everything was great. It was nice and clean. I like the fact that it is assisted living and independent living all in one. I love the marketing director, too. She did a fabulous job. The food was delicious. They do your laundry, change your sheets, take care of your medication and appointments, and serve three meals a day included.

Oakmont of Escondido Hills was a much smaller facility than others we saw as far as number of residents and space. It’s very well kept and very clean, but some of the rooms were extremely small. The gal who gave us the tour was very capable and did a very good job at explaining things. At the point where my friend was feeling very nervous about it, she allayed his fears and helped him. It seemed like their food and restaurant areas were very nice. We have another friend who has beed a resident there for three years and is doing really well, so I can say that it’s a good facility. It’s more isolated and not in walking distance to any shopping or restaurants. They had a shuttle bus, though, that takes people to appointments and shopping. There were two separate, small dining rooms. I think that they schedule people to come at certain times so they don’t have to wait in line to be seated.

Oakmont of Escondido Hills was very nice, and new. It's very clean, and it seemed as though they have the staffing there to take care of the people. They had a library. The rooms were pretty nice, but a little small but probably good for the type of situation that they're trying to handle.

I visited Oakmont of Escondido Hills. The food was excellent, and I liked the grounds and the facilities. Because it was a newer facility, I just saw a model room, which was very nice. Depending on the orientation of the windows, my wall decorations will serve to make the room feel more like home. The dining room was fine and very open.

The staff at Oakmont of Escondido Hills was extremely friendly. They greeted us and when we were walking around, you could see them talking with the residents. When my mom got tired of walking, the girl giving us the tour got her a wheelchair and helped her upstairs. The genuine care is very interesting; it was pretty obvious. When we first walked in, there were a lot of residents in chairs either sleeping or drooling or slouching, and they didn’t look like they were happy. They looked bored; there wasn't any interaction with each other happening.

We saw the independent living cottages at Oakmont of Escondido Hills. It was fine, just a little bit old. It was like a little, spacious townhouse. It looked like it was kept up nicely even though it was older. It had good ADA accessibilities, and I thought it would be good for my parents. I think they had a beauty salon and bingo, other activities, and a pool.

The only thing that I didn’t like for the memory unit was like a time served for when the patients get up at night, and they weren’t located in an area where they could be notified right away because of where they were set up in the room; if the patient were to fall they wouldn’t notice or they won’t know. Probably more caregivers and clearer as far as what they are going to charge as the patient declines. The grounds were very pretty, so that would be the standout of it.

Oakmont of Escondido Hills was a newer facility, really nice, large, and had lots of activities. They had monthly events. They gave me a cherry pie, which is my favorite dessert. The price was right in the middle. It wasn't too high, wasn't low, but it was very reasonable for what they offered. Out of all the directors that we spoke to, I felt like they really cared. They had exercise classes and art classes, and they do special events, like a farm day in the summer, animals come, out and they do a petting zoo. They also do family events where they have an open house where the families can come and enjoy. They do a circus day and fun things that are enjoyable for everybody. They're perfect. If I were to put my mom anywhere, that would be the place we would take her to.

The part that struck us the best on Oakmont of Escondido Hills was the remodeling that they had just completed. It was very attractive, very bright, and cheery. That was very, very nice. They didn’t have anyone that wasn’t friendly and helpful. It seemed like they had very happy and content people. The dining room was very similar to all dining rooms. The food was very good, but it wasn’t exceptional. The rooms were larger than any of the others. The only reason we didn’t consider this as the main one was simply because it seemed like there were too many people there. However, I would recommend this facility.

I've been to Oakmont of Escondido Hills four times, and every time they have an event, they're kind enough to call us to come and take part. The people were very friendly. I asked two ladies who were residents there what they liked best about Oakmont, and at the same time they said everything, so that was pretty impressive. The place was clean and beautiful. We like it a lot. It is very eye appealing with beautiful grounds, a courtyard, and nice wide aisles. I like the rooms. We had eaten there, and the food was very good. Coming up next Thursday, it's going to be a four-course meal and a casino night. It has been established, and it's been there for a while.
