Oakmont of Escondido Hills was very nice. The coordinator was very helpful. She was a wealth of information. It was the top two that I really, really liked. The staff gave some tips and points on what to look for in an assisted living place and stuff like that. She was really nice and open about things. The rooms were really nice. It exceeded my expectations for an assisted living place. It was very clean. The place was immaculate. The food was great. The dining area was very clean. The staff was very attentive. It was like restaurant-style.

The outside area was very well kept and nice. I think my mom would have been very happy there. I was very impressed with the place.

My tour of Oakmont of Escondido Hills was thorough. The place is immaculate. It's kind of old-style, California-Spanish architecture with a large courtyard. The residents were super happy and friendly. Our tour guide, Mercedes, was extremely professional, warm, and caring. She cared about where my mom would end up, not necessarily just Oakmont, but cared about the client and the residents. It was a really happy place. The staff was attentive. The food was amazing. It's in a suburban area. There's a big garden-like Spanish courtyard. A lot of the rooms open up into the courtyard, and there's a nice space for entertaining and just enjoying the garden. It's very peaceful. While it's close to the freeway, it doesn't feel like it. It's a very peaceful and suburban area.

I saw Oakmont of Escondido Hills. It was a really good tour, super detailed, informative, so it was really helpful. The staff member was excellent. He was very thorough and gave a lot of good information. It was really good. They have a pool, and a gym where they can do physical therapy, or the residents can just use the equipment. They have activities rooms they have, multiple kinds of seating areas throughout. They provide laundry service, but for residents, if they prefer they can also do their own. They do little field trips locally to Trader Joe's or wherever. Some of the residents have pets. I saw a few dogs. They sent us home with an apple pie, it was very good.

We went to tour Oakmont of Escondido Hills. I visited independent living, two different apartments, and the entire grounds. The place was very clean. The employees seemed very happy as long-term employees. It spoke to me volumes that the employees are satisfied with their working conditions and what they need to do to take care of their clients. The rooms were nice, bright, remodeled, clean, accessible, and safe. The person who gave me the tour was amazing. She actually called to check up on my mom several times. She knows where we're at with our decision making in moving her. The dining area was nice, clean, airy, and open. Actually, my mom had friends that were living there. In the past, she had gone there a couple of times to eat with her friends. She enjoyed the food. They have an outdoor patio where they do a happy hour once or twice a week with live music and an open barbecue. Another thing I liked about it was the memory care clients were in a different area, so they were separated. They do a great assessment on those people with memory care issues and try to integrate them into as normal an environment as possible. There may be times when the groups are mixed within reason of the memory care patients' ability to not get disoriented or impacted by mixing in a different environment, so I thought that was good.

We chose Oakmont of Escondido Hills for mom and proximity was the biggest thing. They were about five minutes from my house. The second thing was the level of care. She only needs a very small amount of care because she's young and she's showing signs of dementia. They offer senior living (where it's just unassisted care) with access to the cafeteria and other facilities up to memory care and kind of everything in between. As she gets worse, they'll increase the level of care until she gets to the point where she qualifies for memory care and they'll move her to that section of the building. There are quite a few residents there, so she'll have an opportunity to engage with and interact with a bunch of different people instead of just a small amount at a smaller facility. Because she's so young and because she's still capable, we wanted a place where there's a lot of residents, somewhere close by, somewhere that had a progressive level of care that would increase as she needs it, and then also with the ability for her to be removed and visit us as needed or desired. Those are kind of our basic things and this place met all those things, plus proximity, which makes it very easy for all of us to go visit her. They have really good reviews and they have a nice facility. Nobody's perfect, but they did a good job. There's plenty of people there, and they were all very welcoming and supportive. There's a lot of amenities there. They had barber service, they had a dentist and doctors that show up, and they have a theater. They've got a bunch of staff there that are supporting all that, so it seemed like it was sufficient. The ratio of people was good. They do one large thing every month, like a big luau or party or some kind of event for the whole compound at the senior living as well as the assisted living. They've got multiple activities daily. They've got field trips, people coming in for history lessons and different presentations, they've got bingo and game card nights, a movie theater, a gym, and a pool. It's a lot of money, but it seems to be similar to what other parts of the country are. I feel like they offer quite a bit as compared to some of the other facilities that are a little bit smaller that are charging similar amounts.
