Westminster Gardens was a very good place. The interaction between the staff there and me was just marvelous. The physical appearance of the place was outstanding. The activities lined up for the day were very good. They have exercise programs. They have trails, ponds, and gardens. They have tennis and a swimming pool. The value of what they have to offer and the services they give is just superior.

Provider Response

Emil, thank you for your positive review. We appreciate your kind words about our community, activities, services, and our dedicated staff! Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

I visited this facility

Westminster Gardens is set on a very large property and has all different levels of care. They seemed very well organized. They have motion detectors in the bathrooms for independent living. So if nothing gets set off, they'll check and make sure you're okay. It's a very spread-out ground, so you can walk if you want. If you can't walk, you'd want to have a scooter or a golf cart. They have parking for both of those. The units are nice. They are older, but they update them. The residents are very pleasant. The grounds are very nice. We went into one apartment that was vacant at the time that they were preparing for a new resident. We went into the dining room, and the food looked great. The people seemed happy. They have a main house that has a beautiful library in it. The staff gave us some directions, contacted me multiple times, and was very knowledgeable. They also have a gym and a nice guesthouse if you have visitors that want to stay over.

I visited this facility

I have chosen Westminster Gardens. It has all the amenities we are looking for. We don't want to do apartment living, and they have cottages. We visited it before; we did an in-person tour. I think the staff members were excellent. We saw the dining room but everything was closed because of COVID now. We haven't tried the food. They have individual cottages. This is basically what we're looking for. It's very nice and very adequate. They have parking for the car and everything is gated. Right now, it's at the top of the list of where we would like to go.

Provider Response

We're so excited at the prospect of you joining the Westminster Gardens family! We know you have considerable options when it comes to retirement living, and we're delighted our community ticked many of the boxes you were looking for. Our cottages really add to our tight-knit, residential neighborhood-like campus, and we're glad you were able to experience this firsthand. If we can provide you any additional information, or if you'd like to come by for another visit, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Westminster Gardens had a standalone home, but they had no openings. They had a big building that had apartments, but they had one available on the end as though it was a separate unit and it had an outdoor patio, so it had a front door and a back door. They also required a fairly large deposit upfront. The staff was lovely. It's an excellent facility.

Provider Response

We appreciate your consideration, Dottie, and your kind words about our community. While we don't have just one building with multiple apartments, our single-family homes give us a true neighborhood feel. We're glad we made such a positive impression during your visit.

I thought Westminster Gardens was very good, and I'm going to be moving there soon. The people are friendly, I felt like they really care about people, and I just think it's a really good facility. They fixing the apartment according to my specifications. It's very nice, it looks very pleasant, and they've been very helpful that way. The sales people have been very nice. I had lunch there, and the food was satisfactory.

Provider Response

We couldn't be happier for you to join the Westminster Gardens family, Dorothy! We're delighted you found our community to be a place to put down roots, and we know you're going to love the lifestyle, services and people who live and work here. I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I must honestly admitted Westminster Gardens used to be a good facility before with adequate experienced friendly employees to assist the residents. However, lately over past one year, you will see more and more new faces in the facility? What does it tells you? They no longer have reliable stable experienced employees to care for the residents. Some of the old friends have been forced to let go or terminated by HR director in order to save money for paying experienced employees. Honestly, apart from how physical look nice of the place, adequate experienced employees are also very important. If you put that much money for your lovely parents, you may expect more, which means quality of service. Do you think a place with constant new employees can maintain a good quality of service to your parents? Think about it. If Westminister Gardens is just liked some other facility but only have nicer outlook of the building. Is it worth to pay that much to be there in a institutionalized hotel that full of strangers?

Provider Response

We'd appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about your concerns personally. If interested, please contact Michael Walper, our executive director.

We loved Westminster Gardens. The lady we spoke to was amazing, very helpful, had lots of suggestions, and had clearly been through this with families many times before. Although it's a little pricey, we want something that we think would make our mother happy, and we think it's an ideal place. As far as the facility goes, I'd be tempted to go ahead without even looking at any others. The layout was good and all on one level. The studio had an alcove for a regular-sized bed, and the bathroom was adjacent to the bed. There's a living room area, and you can bring some furniture. It was not a separate bedroom, but it was very nice. What we really liked was the dining area because it was decorated in a way that my mom decorates her house. They had activities, a little patio area off the rooms, and a little gardening area, which my mom likes. They had a memory facility on-site. There were always alternatives if they don't like what's on the menu, which had a lot of choices. The head chef was Cordon Bleu-trained.

Thank you Sandra!

Westminster Gardens is a really lovely place. It's quite an oasis of beautiful grounds and trees, lovely small homes with various shapes, a big recreation area, and some nice facilities for everybody for activities. The people there are really wonderful. The staff member, Bernadette, is such an incredibly helpful and thoughtful person. We had lunch with some of the residents and it was lovely.

Provider Response

Thank you for visiting us, Cheryl, and I'll be sure to pass along your gracious compliments to Bernadette. I'm glad you were able to see much of our neighborhood-like community, and take advantage of one of our wonderful meals prepared by our talented executive chef and her team. If you have any questions, or you'd like to come by again and tour a particular residence or program, feel free to give us a call. Michael Walper, Executive Director, Westminster Gardens

I visited this facility

Westminster is on a large piece of land. It has a dog park, a swimming pool, and also a workout room. All the units are in one story, so there are no elevators or stairs to climb. When you walk out your door, there's a little patio and grass. It's very homey. Their kitchen has gluten-free food and their dietician is right on top of that. They even have a place in their kitchen to prepare the gluten-free food so it won't get cross-contaminated. The dietician was smart, knew what she was doing, and how to please the seniors. They also have enough activities and outside activities to do. The units have their own small kitchen or a large one if you wish. They serve 1 meal and I can also fix their own food. The community has transportation or I can opt to drive myself to the doctor. They have everything else other centers have. The staff that I have met are confident and nice.

Provider Response

Thank you for the tremendous feedback, Betty. Out of all your wonderful comments, describing our residences as homey was my favorite. We're a tight-knit group of friends here, and our 32-acres really make our campus feel like a little neighborhood. If you have any questions about your visit, or you'd like to come by again to see a particular program or activity in person, don't hesitate to give us a call. Westminster Gardens was fine, but the food was really bad. It was less homestyle cooking and not even as good as the home barbecue. They definitely need to change their chef. The people in the memory care had to walk out of the gate to have lunch or dinner with other people, and it's not safe at all. They charge for every care they provide. The only good thing is it's in a big lot. I did not see any activities. The facility is good for independent living.

Provider Response

Hunter, I'm disappointed to hear about your experience at our community. I'd personally like to invite you for another visit so you can see the breadth of services available to residents across all our levels of living, and our busy calendar of activities you may have missed. Many of our guests speak highly of our dining program, and the diverse menu of healthy options our talented executive chef prepares. I'd very much like the opportunity to sit down with you over lunch or dinner and address some of your concerns, particularly the various ways we ensure the safety and security of our campus. If you'd like to join us again, please contact us and we'll arrange a time that fits your schedule. Michael Walper, Executive Director, Westminster Gardens

I visited this facility

We loved Westminster Gardens. It’s got individual cottages with a lot of beautiful grounds around them. It’s not apartment living or high rise. We just liked the feel of it. It feels like in a neighborhood rather than an old person’s home. Bernadette -- the staff who took us on the tour -- was very lovely, engaging, and very kind, and she is fun to be with. We really like Bernadette a lot. They took us to lunch, and we ate with the couple of the residents and we had a very good time and a very good meal. They have a swimming pool, organized games, and trips.

Provider Response

Thank you for visiting us, Marti! And isn't Bernadette just fantastic? I'll be sure to pass along your kind comments. I'm glad you felt at home here, and had an opportunity to meet some of your potential neighbors. If we can answer any additional questions you might have, don't hesitate to let me or Bernadette know. I am/was a resident of this facility

Westminster Gardens is a well-run, beautiful, healthy community in which to retire. It lies at the foot of the mountains, and is a former estate whose grounds now boast many trees and park in which to walk. The variety of residences and levels of care meet a variety of needs. Our cottage provides ample space for all our needs. We knew this before we moved in. But we could not have anticipated the delightful variety of residents who are now our neighbors, and the healthy sense of community that we now enjoy. There is a range of activities designed to promote healthy aging, including a tennis court, swimming pool, fitness center, and staff to advise on keeping or getting physically fit. There are concerts, social gatherings, and worship services. The staff is professionally competent and enjoys a good relationship with the residents. We are grateful to be here.

Provider Response

Thank you for your comments. We are glad you are enjoying all the amenities, specially all the people at our community. We are glad to have you at Westminster Gardens and thank you for choosing to live here!

At Westminster Gardens, they have very nice apartments and lots of space. There are just many wonderful things about it, but it just generally feels a little drab. The dining area is more like a cafeteria-type of thing, so it looks a little drab. But other than that, as I say, the living part is wonderful. The staff seems very pleasant. I tried their food, and it was very accessible but nothing exciting.

A couple of months ago I did visit Westminster which I really liked. I thought it was fantastic, and I loved it, but I'm not making the decision. It has to be my mom's decision, and unfortunately she is not ready to do that. Their grounds were beautiful. It looks like you were out in a forest with walking paths and streams. It was like you were totally away from the city, and it was very beautiful. The cafeteria was great, and the food looked great. I went there while they were serving lunch. The food looked good, and it was a very nice area. They have everything from houses to where you needed more care, more of a building type atmosphere with rooms. The gal that took me through was wonderful. She showed me everything, and I was very impressed. Some of them were actually houses, and she even showed me some of those. They are like houses with garages. Another where they needed more care was more like separate living. If you walk down the hall, there will be separate living areas, and it seemed nice enough.

My half-brother lived in Westminster Gardens. They have all different levels. You buy like a little condo all the way up to nursing care. It’s a bigger layout. Many of the same type of programs were available. The food is very similar to what you might have at home. It’s a lot more expensive.

Westminster Gardens has full kitchens. They completely redo it for you to your specifications before you move in, with all new appliances, new carpet, and paint. You live independently in a ranch style home. You're not in a tower where there are elevators and other people living with you. Beautiful lawns and gardens, private patio, a lot of things. The staff is so friendly. The residents decide on all the activities, but they have lecturers coming in. They have films; they have tennis. They have different kinds of aerobic activities. They have a pool; they have a library. You can have one meal a day in their restaurant, very tasty. We've been to other places where the food is very bland, like nobody can salt and pepper it or spice it up. This food was just delicious. We're not ready to move in, but this is the place we've decided upon.

Westminster Gardens was a very nice community. They had very nice rooms. They had sliding glass doors that would look out into the green area. This community seemed to be a more open concept than a closed-in concept. They had fairly extensive patio areas that looked out. The dining room was bright and cheerful. It seemed to serve the purpose of gathering a community together. They had an outside dining area for barbecuing that was nice for the warmer months. They also had an inside area that was cheerful with art works from some of the people who were around there. They had an extensive library. They also offered all sorts of activities. It was around Christmas time when I was there, so they were decorating the halls for Christmas. They had all sorts of pageants by the community. They had field trips. Overall, it was a nice place.
