We went to Fredricka Manor, which is really very lovely, but you were just too distant from the center of activities. You are basically living in a house, and I'm not interested in living in a house anymore. I'm very happy to be in an apartment, in a community where people are close together. The facility is beautiful, but I just found the fact that if there is bad weather, which we have been having quite a bit of, you are isolated in your home. To go to the main building, you have to go out in the elements, so if you have a senior with health issues, it just didn't appeal to either one of us. Interestingly enough we met only the marketer, and we only met one other person in the community. I made arrangements to have lunch. Unfortunately, when we got there, we were told we were supposed to make arrangements ahead of time, which I had done. They made no effort to give us the opportunity to have lunch, because according to them we did not call ahead, and that is incorrect. So, I found that very negative, that they basically were telling me I was a liar. I did not care for their marketing people at all.

Fredericka Manor has been magnificent. This is just a beautiful facility and we have a lot of input from the administration. We have meetings with them constantly. We have wonderful paths to walk on, we have an exercise program (which is important to me), and a discussion group. The staff is wonderful. Food is delicious. Various levels of care are available so you don't have to go to a new facility if you need more care. Our administration is on campus and his door is always open for us. So, if we have something we want to do, we go in and talk about it and Craig would usually say 'yes'. I've started a group to discuss current events and we have another thing we're working with right now. We also play bingo. So, there's a real variety of programs. They've also just been remarkable during the pandemic. They have gone out of their way to take care of us. They come in every day even though it's difficult to do that. The people here care about one another.

I toured the facilities of Fredericka Manor and they were very nice. I went to tour their independent living and Kerry was very nice, informative, and helpful. The rooms were very nice, reasonably priced, and some of them even had nice views. They were more like apartments. The dining hall was also very nice. There were lots of amenities but I mainly saw the dining hall and the library. I didn't have a meal, but the dining hall looked great and the meals I saw looked really good.

I did a tour of Fredericka Manor. It looks wonderful, but I just didn't feel that it was for me at that time. I don't know why. They have everything for everybody, from medical care up to people that can live on their own. They showed me different places. The staff was great. There were several different kinds of rooms, they were great. It has different levels. They have both apartments and studios. They did have a bus to take people to different places like theaters, and just different places in San Diego. They have an exercise room; I don't remember a pool. They have buildings all over and everywhere. They have been around a long time. We saw the lunchroom and the library.

I went to visit my grandmother this week at Fredericka Manor Care Facility (not the living facility). This was the first time I had been to the facility. I was met by a person who, definitely should not be the receptionist. Susan was curt, rude, confrontational and insensitive. She argued with two families who were there visiting and, generally was not helpful to my family. After about 30 minutes of visiting, Susan came to collect my grandmother saying it was shift change and started wheeling her off without letting us say good bye. My sister had to yell to get Susan to stop! I left wondering if the rest of the staff was this careless. As the face of Fredericka Manor, she is literally the first person you come in contact with. We were already in a sensitive situation. We’re missing our grandma and hoping she will get well. She just made a bad situation worse with her horrible attitude. I would suggest to management, to move her to a position where she does not have to deal with the public.

Fredericka Manor is the best of the five places I've seen so far. 23 acre campus, with small homes plus a 7-story building with apartments, with the upper floors having fantastic views. A lovely, large pond where one can sit quietly and read or just enjoy the view. In a good part of Chula Vista, with nearby interesting shops and restaurants. No pool, but there are a couple public pools not far away. The real surprise was the general mood of friendliness, helpfulness, and even joy that I encountered in the residents I talked with. They all seemed quite happy to be there. The meal point system is the most realistic I've seem, as it in effect means you don't end up paying for meals you don't eat. Worth checking out, for sure

We went to Fredericka Manor. The staff member, Cristina, was incredibly awesome. She was very kind, was very professional, and she showed and shared what the community was all about, while still allowing us to ask questions. She was very articulate in allowing people to make up their own minds, while providing that information and opening up that dialogue. The surroundings are beautiful, it's like a neighborhood, it makes you feel right at home, and it's all landscaped and beautifully done. The whole place is tremendously well kept, and they've done a lot of renovations. The rooms were spacious, the apartments were wonderful, they allow a sofa, you bring your own furniture in, you can have your bedroom, they have a mini kitchenette, they provide a mini refrigerator/freezer, they provide a microwave, and they have a laundry service. You can have rooms with views. The food is five stars.

I'm moving into Fredericka Manor's independent living. The people seemed pleasant and they have a variety of living situations. When you need assistance, you can add that in like an a la carte option. You can have assisted living at your residence until you are required to move to another route because of health reasons. I've chosen a studio cottage, which has a bungalow arrangement. They're prepping it before I move in with new floors, new carpet, and new paint. There's a variety of floor plans. It's one of the older communities around, but everything is in good repair.

My cats and I have lived here going on 4 years now. What a great community! And a true community is what it is -- we all know each other and care about each other and help each other. The staff are beyond wonderful, so friendly and ready to do whatever we might need. Senior management is very accessible -- if the doors to their offices are open, you can just walk right in and talk to them, no appointment needed -- very responsive to concerns, very open to suggestions. I love going to community-wide meetings held by the Executive Director several times a month, to keep up with what's going on. They're always very lively, since we're encouraged to ask questions, on any topic, throughout. And believe you me, our residents aren't shy about doing so! We have many volunteer committees that help run this place and make sure it's what we want it to be. Fredericka Manor offers "aging in place", so although I'm independent living, everything I say goes for assisted living, too -- we all intermingle freely and have access to the same activities and facilities, and when I get to the point I need assistance, it will be brought to me in my own, cozy apartment. I live in the Tower, and yes, the views are extraordinary. The campus is lovely, flowers and butterflies everywhere, any time of year. I'm particularly fond of the pond, nestled in its own park, where I walk every day, communing with nature (koi, turtles, wild ducks that live in the area or drop by on migration, a family of great blue herons, hawks, egrets, always something new to discover), visiting with old friends who love the pond as much as I do, and making new ones. There are so many activities, it is literally impossible to do all of them. Lots of emphasis on staying healthy, with all sorts of exercise classes (the Fredericka Manor Cyclepaths are national CyberCycling champions!) but also things like qigong and guided meditation. The food ... well ... it's just yummy! Like every other department, the dining services managers are readily available to answer questions and listen to suggestions (and compliments -- they get a lot of those!) And our beloved Chef Reyes and his staff are always cooking up celebrations to surprise and delight. Those pictures you see on our websites and in our brochures and such? Those aren't stock photos, they're all real residents and staff -- I know (and love) every one of 'em. What can I say? I thoroughly researched all continuing care communities in the County, and I found the best.

I went to Fredericka Manor and toured the whole community. It was great. I have no complaints about it. It's beautiful and very clean. It's 24 acres, and they had cottages and apartments. The staff was very professional. They had beautiful grounds, lovely fitness center, wonderful dining, a pond area, gardens, and great parking.

I really liked Fredericka Manor, and we are looking forward to living there. The rooms were lovely and had enough space for all our stuff, so we were very pleased with it. Everybody was really friendly. They had a very large library and a lot of activities. The food was very good, and the staff was lovely. I liked the location because I could go to the beach and drive to places. The apartment we chose had two bedrooms, a kitchen, an outdoor space, and was very accessible.

I visited Fredericka Manor, I loved it, and it was my favorite. However, it was not as close. The sales people seemed nice. The dining room is beautiful, the apartments were nice size, nicely laid out, and they had some casitas, and little houses, which were really nice.

We thought Fredericka Manor was very pleasant, nice, and seemed like a place where I could be happy. The cottages would be perfect for couples or a single lady with a friend. If you're alone, there were also apartments available. The place was pretty and very well done, and the people we met were all terrific. We had an excellent lunch. The salad bar was great. It was a very clean and beautiful place with glass all around so you can see outside.

Fredericka Manor was excellent. It was very nice ,and the staff was very friendly. It was one of the best. They were a rather unique place because they actually had little cottages, and you could stay there instead, so I really liked that. And they had the apartment area as well, but the cottages were quite unique, and they were very nice. This was the only place we saw that had that kind of facility. The dining room was excellent, the food was great, and the view out of the dining room was gorgeous. The lands around the area were great. It was just a really nice place.

My father has lived in a cottage for 2 years and loves it! He was widowed 3 years before deciding to move into a retirement community because he thought he was doing just fine on his own...and he was. However, it was lonely and isolating to live in a big 4 bedroom house with 2 stories in Mission Viejo. He's as social as he want's to be. Currently, he's in charge of the weekly Bocci game, participates in daily exercise and weekly ballroom and line dancing and the choir. He has a good group of friends that he shares dinner with nightly and they often attend live theatre together, something he would never have done living alone. He loves the close proximity of Balboa Park and Coronado Island and visits often with friends and out of town guests. He tells me all the time "this was the best decision I could have ever made!"

My mother is at Fredericka Manor. It has flexibility for people who can still be on their own, but there's always somebody there. My mom still plays ball. They have English-speaking staff, so communication is pretty easy.

Fredericka Manor was OK and had some availability coming up for my dad. The staff took me on a very quick tour. The rooms looked crowded and outdated. Outside, they had beautiful grounds. Inside, it was really busy and didn’t look updated. I didn’t get a nice warm feeling. It was like a big nursing home with 200 rooms, so it was a bigger place.

We toured Fredericka Manor; the lady explained everything, and she was very professional. After her presentation and us touring the facility, my youngest daughter and I decided that we would make application for residency there. The room was absolutely fabulous. The entry was the kitchenette, straight ahead was the living room, to the left was the bedroom, and off of it was a walk-in shower and bathroom. It's more than I expected, and I would be able to use my VA entitlement.

We have found a place, and we are moving there in two weeks. Most of the places in California do not have a kitchen, and Fredericka Manor has kitchens. If they didn't have a kitchen, I would discard them. It is an entire cottage, and the rooms are large and light. I am still working -- I am an artist -- and it had room for a studio for me. We stayed there, and they were very gracious. They gave us a guest suite, and we lived in the community for four days. It was very nice. That included all the meals and everything we wanted. They managed to sit us with different people for every meal, and the people in this community were really gracious. The food was good; it wasn't exciting, but it was good. But there are so many restaurants down there that it doesn't matter. It is not only assisted living, but they have a lot of independent living. And one of the reasons we chose it is that they have very vital, active people still running around in there, and it is beautiful.

I visited Fredericka Manor, and it was excellent. I liked the meals and the privacy. They had everything like Spanish classes, movies, and all kinds of things. I would recommend them because they covered all the aspects of assisted living.

My mother didn’t get to stay longer at Fredericka Manor; she passed away. I think she was there for only two months. Everything was absolutely excellent there. It couldn’t have been better; nothing could be improved. They had everything from classes to bingo to total involvement. I totally recommend that place; it’s unlike any other, and it’s a residence as opposed to a nursing care home.

Fredericka Manor is very nice housing away from the main property. There were different choices of housing and the grounds were well-kept. There is a one or two bedroom and the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating.

My choice was Fredericka Manor. If I could afford it, that’s where I would be. Not one single negative. It’s a beautiful setting. Very clean, very nicely decorated, beautifully done. It’s very easy transportation from San Diego or any of the suburbs as it’s right off Highway 5. I was very impressed. Of all the places I saw, it made me the happiest. It has a 1-bedroom cottage. I had two meals there, one lunch and one dinner. Excellent food, nice bar, wonderful people. I only met 3 staff members, but I like them all. The residents were all very friendly and all seemed to be very happy. I only met maybe 20 residents but I like them very much.

I did stay in a place called Fredericka Manor. I was at rehab there. It's a very large complex. The rooms are usually two to a room. The staff was very outstanding. Sometimes, the food was real bad, especially for breakfast. They have a full range of activities: movies, dances, parties, bingo, church. It's right in the middle of Chula Vista. They have a little hospital. There are shopping centers. Anything you want is there.

I visited Fredericka Manor and it was also very nice. Except it was more of a large campus and it wasn't individual homes. They had a high rise where the assisted living people would be. I was only able to talk to their sales rep but I ate lunch, the food was good and the people were nice. It seemed like they had a few activities, but I didn't participate in any of them.

The grounds of this facilIty are serene and peaceful, conducive to an environment promoting wellness. The homes are well appointed and spacious while every effort has been made to anticipate and accommodate the needs of the population served. Stairs are minimal and access to nursing and non-nursing care is readily available allowing residents to live in independence as long as possible. With an on-site subacute and inpatient facilities, residents are not far from 24 hour medical care should they require it. In addition to these, activities within the community support social interaction and community involvement in each setting.

I went with a friend to check out the Fredericka Manor to help him find a place for he and his wife. She has early dementia, and he still enjoys working part time and is unable to care for her on his own. They have resided in the Chula Vista region for quite some time, so this is the area they would like to continue to stay in. There were many different types of accommodations available, from nice garden homes to spacious apartments in the Asbury Towers. Each was lovely and very easy to access. The outer grounds were very nicely maintained and offered spacious places to enjoy walking around freely and safely. There was also space to have parties, picnics, barbeques and other gatherings with friends and family. The receiving area was fresh and bright with a nice colors and furniture. The interiors were all designed with beautiful views in a calming, current décor and lots of fresh air and light. The social rooms offered easy ways for seniors to easily socialize, make crafts, play games, watch TV and films and participate in the many stimulating activities. Communal activity rooms were spacious, with comfortable furniture, where seniors can play games, read, watch TV and visit with friends and family. They also have an art center where residents may work on projects that may later be displayed at their facility in Carlsbad. They work with local community organizations to disseminate a better understanding of the aging process, which we found extraordinary - since my friend's wife is an artist. Some of the many outings included local sight seeing, nature walks and visits to all of the great activities that Chula Vista has to offer. Seniors can use exercise facilities at any time and also go on daily walks, with assistance as needed. Aerobics and yoga classes are offered and residents are encouraged to exercise daily. The menus all had healthy food options for all kinds of diets. Healthy snacks are offered all day and into the evening, and whenever requested. The dining rooms was nice and the food we saw looked and smelled delicious. Seniors may also opt to prepare food themselves in their apartments or homes if they like. Bathrooms and all facilities were designed with safety in mind. All of the seniors living in this community seemed very content, in a living environment specifically tailored to their needs. This facility is definitely one of the favorites that we've visited thus far in the region. We thought that this living environment would work for my friend and his wife, since it is designed as a retirement community with just the amount of support they would need. It's very nicely designed with competent and caring staff.
