Assisted Living Reviews for Royal Gardens of Camarillo

My mom is very happy at Royal Gardens of Camarillo. One of the things I like about them compared to other places is that they were able to meet us at our price point. The cost includes laundry, three meals a day, wheelchair, bathing, and administering drugs for a single price, and they didn't keep on adding on. They have activities like bingo, teas, and different entertainment. I'm really pleased since I haven't seen her this busy and happy in a while. The place is not glamorous, but it's clean and nice. She eats really well and is very happy with the food.

This community is really beautiful. It has a gorgeous center courtyard with an aviary. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. I was lucky enough to stay for lunch, which the executive director himself makes! It was delicious. This place feels like home!

My mother has been at Royal Gardens of Camarillo for a week. So far, it's been pretty good, and my mom is getting used to being there. It's clean and the staff is helpful. My mom's enjoying the food and the meals are good. They take care of her and change her, and the rooms are nice. They do church and they bring in people that entertain by singing and playing piano. They also have Bingo, chair yoga, take residents out to doctors' appointments, shopping, and the bank if they need that. My mom has her own room, which is just a bedroom with a walk-in closet and built-in drawers. She also has her own bathroom and a back door leads to a big patio area with chairs. They have a big bird display with a bunch of parakeets and they have a big waterfall out there. They have a side menu that you can order off of, which is good because they have lots of things to eat.

I went to the Royal Gardens, but I wasn’t impressed. It was like a hospital, it had the odor of a hospital, and it needed to be updated. The room was like a hospital room that they converted into an apartment, it was sterile, and it was ugly. However, the staff was nice.

I liked a lot of things about Royal Gardens. We liked the security, there’s a large area where someone could walk around, but there’s a big enclosure. What I didn’t like about it is that it’s in Camarillo, and we live in Ventura. The rooms were very small for both of us. We saw the dining area, it looked nice enough, the staff seemed very courteous, and the one who showed us around was very open.

Royal Gardens seemed more like a hospital and kind of antiseptic. It was dingy and older. The people working there were friendly and seemed like they’re doing the best they could. There were rooms which were fairly large and affordable, but there were also smaller rooms. The carpet was a little old.

Royal Gardens of Camarillo looked like you would be super comfortable there. I was impressed with it. The apartments were very good and big enough. The staff was really nice, and the residents looked comfortable.

My father has only been at Royal Gardens of Camarillo for just a week now, so far so good. The staff is very friendly and attentive. So far the administration is easy to work with. I just liked what they had to offer. It was a good match for my dad. His room is quite large with an enormous closet, which is really a blessing, a very large bathroom, large counter space, and lots of drawers. It’s a 1-story building so there’s a door into the hallway and then a sliding door to the outside. He is happy with the food. It’s not very fussy and it’s more of what he is in-tune with. They have a rotating menu everyday where they can get two choices along with just regular listed standards. They do all kinds of things, like outings, they do walks, exercise classes, and van outings. They have a huge activity room and every afternoon there’s something going on whether it’s bingo or musicians to listen to, sing-along, and they have memory games.

Royal Gardens is a lock down community. They had a community eating area and a little garden area that I liked. The dining room is spacious enough. Mom’s room is adequate. The maintenance is fine as well. They allow the residents to wander into other people’s rooms. I informed management, and they’re working on it.

DO NOT PLACE YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! Placed my mom there on a temporary respite and they did not properly care for her. She got a UTI which ended up as septic shock and she passed away. Her feet had become swollen abd their so called Dr. put her on Lasix for one week. They thought by elevating her feet would solve the problem. Mom had been able to use the restroom on her own, but because of swollen feet, they humiliated her by making her wear Depends. The first room she was Iin had filthy toilets. I had to ask them two days in a row to clean them. The director, Monica will tell you what you want to hear, then twist things around. I went on to pick up mom's belongings and they had the pathetic nerve to have one of there unqualified employees, stand at the door and watch...mind you I just lost my mother due to their negligence.

The people who work at Royal Gardens are amazing. They really care about the seniors who live there. You can tell they enjoy what they do, because everyone is smiling. The Gardens are well maintained and there is so much open space! Yes, the carpet needs to be replaced, but I understand they are getting "refreshed" soon. Some of the other places we visited are too much like museums. Here, you feel comfortable and at home. You can't beat the price either. For our mother's needs, it's like $1000 less and it includes care!

We visited Royal Gardens. The people were very nice and accommodating. They answered all of our questions and showed us around. We even ate lunch there, and I though the food was good. The chef even went out and spoke with us. They showed us one of the rooms that were set up and a couple of vacant rooms. I thought they were a little bit small, and the place was an older building. In many ways, it was good, and financially, we could probably afford that one. We also visited the room where they had the recreational activities. They showed us the crafts that they were doing. They also showed us the list of entertainments that they had. However, I thought their carpeting needed improvement. It wasn't something that we would have picked.
