I visited this facility

The Lakes at Banning was very homey and it smelled good. It was cold outside, so the fireplace was on and it had a beautiful seating area. The staff during the tour was very nice, very informative, very patient, and took me throughout the whole facility. I did not taste the food. I heard it's good from neighbors that are there. There were a lot of activities offered, everything from bingo to different games. They said every holiday, they celebrated in the dining room. I was impressed. There was plenty of guest parking and easy access for guests to the facility to visit their loved ones.

My mother is over at the Lakes at Banning. It's a small facility. The staff seems very attentive and knowledgeable. The clients all seem very happy being there. The staff are very caring and they seem very compassionate. They're very patient with the family members working with us and everything. They seem knowledgeable. When I call to find out how my mother is doing, they're very attentive. Overall, the building is pretty good. I saw some disrepair in one of the bathrooms. It just needed to be remodeled a little bit, but it wasn't dirty or anything like that. It didn't smell or anything in any of the rooms. I got a calendar of activities. I watched bingo.

I toured The Lakes at Banning Assisted Living. It was very nice. The grounds were very nice. I took a tour on the inside. It was very nice, clean, and organized. The staff was super. They were knowledgeable. They took me on a tour. They were just very nice people. When I toured, the residents were eating lunch in the dining room. It was closest to me, and it was within competition with other assisted living resources.

The Lakes at Banning was a very nice place to look at, but the rooms were really small. That was a concern I had, but it appeared that they had lots of activities. There were things like exercises, movie nights, and bingo. The staff I met was very, very friendly and very accommodating.

Provider Response

Hi Suzan, thank you for your review. Was there a particular floorplan you were looking for? We have several that range from 400 Sq. Ft up to over 1100. We welcome the opportunity to show you additional rooms should you want to take a second look! - The Lakes

The Lakes at Banning is a very nice place. It's great. My mother-in-law has a nice room, air-conditioning, a big shower for senior citizens, built-in shower seats, and everything else. It's big enough to put everything in. She has a television. It costs $2100 a month and that includes all of her meals and snacks. They have a movie theater with lounge chairs for about 35 people. They have live entertainment once a week. They have a bus that will take them out. If they want to go shopping, they'll take them shopping, and they'll tell an approximate time they'll be back. It's a nice place. The nurses are on duty all the time. They check on people and make sure they're adjusting. They give a test for the first couple of weeks and make sure they're adjusting alright. They take photographs of the food that they get. If they take the food back to their room, they don't have to. They have a big restaurant there. It's a very good place. It's everything she ever wanted. The staff is great. The food is very good. Her room is very nice. It's a one-bedroom with a small kitchen. She has her own refrigerator with a freezer. She has an air-conditioner/heater, which is good, and she can do whatever she wants. She has a sofa, a chair, and a bed that tilts up. The activities are very good. They have outings and trips, and they got a pretty good-sized bus. It's all up to them if they want to go or not. It's not like they have to go.

The Lakes at Banning was big and they have room. You pull in there and you'll find a place to park. It's spacious, it's lovely and new. When you walk into the front, it has a feeling of the upper-middle class. It's very classy and roomy. I was just not as drawn to this place as I was with the other two places I toured. Banning is a booming area, and there are certainly places for people to go if they want to walk around and shop. The staff who walked me through the facility was nice. It was just not a homelike feel, everybody was very polite and everybody was very proper. They're a beautiful facility and I saw the menu.

The Lakes at Banning was nice. It didn't have a big reception area, but it was adequate. They're a little bit too expensive. The staff is very courteous and knowledgeable, they were very good. The facilities were very good, they were clean and have good service. They have a beautiful cafeteria, they have a cleaning service, they provide cable TV and they have in-room cooking. The location is close to where I'm living, plus it's in a very populated and nice area. It's quite close to a hospital and lots of restaurants, so everything was convenient.

My mother is a resident of The Lakes at Banning. They're amazing, I would recommend them to anyone. I asked a lot of questions, and they have all the answers. The staff is wonderful. It doesn't smell, it's very clean. They're very professional. Everyone there is nice. Every day they have so many activities. It's so much opportunity for them to do different things. They have dog therapy, that's amazing. They have arts and crafts, all sorts of things. They have an outdoor area. Everything is locked and secure; that's important to me. They have a big dining room, and they have a nice visiting area, almost like a living room in front of the building.

We went to The Lakes at Banning. It's really a nice facility. They offer just about everything. The rooms are nice and just about every time somebody moves out, they completely re-do them. The staff is great. They have game rooms and they schedule different games for them. They assisted us and took us all over the place. It's a large facility, too.

The Lakes at Banning was a nice facility. The staff was very friendly, informative, and helpful. The rooms were like hotel rooms with a bathroom and a little kitchenette, and they were relatively small. They had some outdoor areas where you could walk around, and they had an area between the two buildings. Their front building was assisted and the back building was their memory care, and they had an outside area where people go walk. They had a room for TV night, a game room, and tables with puzzles. There were lots of activities going on.

This facility is very nice and clean. The staff is exceptional. From the front desk to each and every caregiver/pal. My mother had a very difficult time adjusting to the move (she's 92). However, the staff has her happy as a clam now. She is always commenting on how nice everyone is (resident's included) and how kind and caring the caregivers are. I believe her biggest adjustment was being away from me (her younger daughter). I've been her caregiver for years. I am moving into Sun Lakes 55+ across the street from The Lakes in a couple of months. I'm sure she will be completely adjusted once that happens. I can't say enough about this place.....it's fantastic!

The Lakes at Banning was the most expensive place I visited. They charge for everything. They just supply the room and you have to do your own decorating. They have extensive activities. They have bingo, card games, outings, and morning devotionals. The food is excellent. They have about six to twelve items on the menu for every meal and you can get as much as you want. Their cafeteria is excellent. The rooms are acceptable and they have a good amount of space. They supply the refrigerator, microwave, and hot plate that you can use in your room. Their facilities are excellent. They have plush carpet and nice waiting rooms. It's the Cadillac of assisted living.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The Lakes at Banning is excellent, very clean, and attractive. They have various areas like the pool room, and an exercise room with equipment and exercise program. The caregivers, the food and the things they offer are wonderful. The food is excellent, and we have full menus with the special of the day. We have two dining rooms, one of which is open from 7 in the morning until 7 at night, and the other from 7 until 6. They have a bus, which takes us when we need to go someplace, even if it's just one or two of us. If we set up a time with the driver, we can go anytime, so that's a real plus for me because I'm in a wheelchair. They also have musical presentations twice a week, one in the A building and one in the B building. Every week we have someone come in to entertain us. The best activities directors are here. They're always planning various things throughout the week and working to get different sorts of things for various residents, like crocheting for the women and things for the men. It's really a lovely community. Everyone knows your name and gets to know you and everybody is pleasant. They do everything they can to help you. For what I pay, I feel like I'm definitely getting my money's worth.

Once they showed me where the room was at The Lakes at Banning, I don't think I could have found my way out. It was a maze of hallways and my mom would have been isolated down a long hallway. The nurses' station didn't even look like one, it was just a small room which was very noisy and loud. My mom would just get very lonely there. They had lots of activities, but a lot of it was very boisterous and I don't think my mom could have handled that. They always had special food going on like pie in the afternoon and ice cream socials. It was a beautiful facility though.

The Lakes at Banning is an awesome place. They check on my brother twice a day and his meals are brought to his room because he had a stroke. They have entertainment that comes in, bingo, card games, special meals, and provide transportation to places. The administrative staff is really helpful. One of their largest dining halls is open most of the day, and there's another one downstairs that’s open for a limited time. They serve a variety of food. They have specials and other choices in the menu. They have a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and a small exercise room.

The tour at The Lakes was great. We had a great tour guide who explained everything. We were very pleased with it and considered moving there. However, it was quite a chore to get from one place to another. The rooms were very nice, very clean, and everything was good.

The Lakes looked very nice and clean. Everybody looked content. They had trips and lots of activities. The staff was very pleasant, very helpful, and very nice. The scenery was the one thing that I did not like because you looked out the window to a brown field without trees or anything. It looked barren, and I did not like that.

My father had never been to an assisted living facility and agreed to a 30 day trial stay at The Lakes last spring, but only if he could bring his pet dog. The dog is quite large and bigger than their pet policy allows. The sales manager apparently disregarded the policy and told my dad the dog would be OK, so he moved in. Two weeks after moving in they said the pet could not stay. After that happened my dad did not want to remain there. We felt manipulated. We provided the written 30 day notice to vacate to the sales manager and he later approached my dad to try to get him to stay longer. We then were told by the sales manager the 30 day notice was no longer valid and it would have to be resubmitted. We vacated after 7 weeks and they are now sending my elderly father to collections for a month of rent they want for the month after he vacated. In our opinion very questionable business practices and motivations that were not in the best interest of my father. We could not in good conscience recommend this facility.

The Lakes is a nice facility but I don’t like it that two people shared the same room, there was just a little divider between them. The facility looks very nice but the residents and relatives of the residents were not as pleased with it.

The Lakes was my first choice because it was close to where I live. But my father did not choose to stay there because everyone else in our family lives in Corona. One of the things I really liked was that there was a pool for water therapy. The residents could also have a barbecue and invite their family over to eat by the pool, and the family could go swimming, too. For people like my dad who can’t walk, he could still get in the pool and move. That’s why I thought it was pretty awesome. The Lakes is like a retirement community and there’s a really nice, upscale 55-and-over type of neighborhood called Sun Lake on the same street. I think it’s cool because the people who are in that independent living community can graduate from Sun Lake to The Lakes when they get to the point where they need assisted living. One thing I have discovered is that I definitely do not care for sales pitches and being harassed by salespeople who are constantly calling me to bring my dad to their place. That really bothers me. At The Lakes, they did not do that. They were very accommodating with any questions, and they’d call back but didn’t hunt you down like a used car salesman.

My mother has been living in The Lakes at Banning for five months now, and they're pretty good. Her room is very nice. She is in the smallest one you can get, which is all she needs. She has her own furniture in there, and the bathroom is huge. The whole place is very nice. The food seems to be fine as she enjoys everything she eats there. They could have more activities for them, though, and I would prefer having more activity directors come to the rooms. I wanted her close to us, and this place had a really good reputation.

Rudest Nurse Ever!!! Very unprofessional. It was hard enough getting my parents interested in an assisted living, but to be turned off because of someone's attitude - No Thank You. By the way "Very Expensive" compared to the near by options.

I not only visited, but I moved my mother into the Lakes on May 30th, and we are very happy with it. And, what I found was interesting as when we knew we needed a place to put my mother, at first I didn't think assisted living even in any way could be a possibility, but I thought, "Well, why don't I look into it?" And so what was explained -- and what I didn't quite get and probably a lot of people don't get -- is the fact that in assisted living, they have all kinds of supportive care. If you don't need any care, you don't have the care, but if you need help toileting or whatever, they have it. So it has been perfect, and my mom is very happy there. I am most impressed with the facility and the people. It is the perfect solution to what my mother needs right now at this time in her life. She is well cared for, and what I like is when she declines, the care can be increased. It is all very flexible, and I really like that.

My Dad lives at the Lakes in an efficiiency apartment. He's in his late 90's but still gets around using his walker. The staff are really nice and Dad has made several resident friends there to eat with in their dining room on the independent side of The Lakes. He enjoys their 11 AM exercise class and their weekly cleaning of his apartment.

My Mom recently moved into The Lakes. She has a bright and spacious apartment, the food is wonderful and the ENTIRE staff is very friendly and helpful. I'm also very impressed with the quality of people they hire and how much they care for and about their residents. From the housekeeping staff, front desk, activities coordinators and care teams, everyone we've met are very good and decent people and they all know and call the residents by their names. They also allowed her caregiver from a private agency to continue working with her. Most of the other residents have been very warm and welcoming and she is VERY happy to be living there. I agree with what the other reviewer said, the gal who originally showed us the facility immediately turned my Mom off, so much so she said she would never move there. I had to take her back several times to tour the facility and I asked that we be left to tour it on our own. They were only too happy to do so and even allowed us to eat lunch there one day and that's when my Mom decided she liked the place and wanted to move in. There were challenges prior to the move-in that I didn't think were necessary but all in all I am very happy and grateful that we found The Lakes. Most important, my Mom is very happy there.

Lakes Retirement Community was a nice facility. I had a nice ground. However, it was a little pricey. I also didn't like the lady that presented us the room. When I thought my clients could not afford them, she just kind of drop us after that. We weren't important anymore. She didn't try to work with us or offered any other possibilities or assistance.
